Anaïs.
What stuff should I listen to? I have listened to AI. Everyone seems to hate that album and says it's no good compared to old Green Day. I just sort of believed them haha. What else of Green Day's sounds like the Trilogy? 1. Don't believe them. 2. Nothing, which is why the Trilogy sucks. 3. Go listen to Nimrod, Warning, Dookie, 21st Century Breakdown and Insomniac and report back to us.
Spike
People keep saying that Billie Joe Armstrong is a nice guy. I have trouble believing it... because he had said that his behavior on stage is really him. If that is the case then everything else he does is an act. I think that might be taking it a tad literally, to be fair. As a performing musician, I feel most at home on stage, as if that's really who I am, and that's most likely the case for a lot of professional musicians. It doesn't make everything else an act, it's just that some people feel most at home on stage.
Guest
Billie Joe is definitely a prick. Sometimes you just know these things, and yeah... he's a cunt.

Love the man's lyrics (pre-2012), but he's annoying as hell in real life.

That is good that you feel at home on stage as a musician... however, based on Billie Joe Armstrong's behavior on stage and things he has been saying over the years (ignoring the charities he has helped)... I am not certain that he is as nice as people claim. I think he has a temper.

HARVESTER
Well that last bit is definitely true What's that about ignoring charities? He has helped a lot of charities in the past. Based on his attitude when he is doing other things, I do not think he is as friendly as people seem to be thinking.

I've read quite a few things from different people saying they think he's not that great a person. No doubt there are reasons for thinking that, but what I don't understand, is how is him having helped charities evidence that he's not nice? Seems a bit contradictory. What I am saying is... without thinking about how he has helped charities... how nice of a person is he really? Just because he greets people... is not enough information to determine how nice he is or not.

WhiteTim
Is he nice most of the time or is he mean? No one on this board can answer that as we are not around Billie in his personal life
HARVESTER
does it matter? He's an entertainer. He entertains his fans well, which means he does his job well. Whether or not he's a nice person is his problem. Saint Nicolas is going to have a tough time this year.

Oh, from your quote "ignoring the charities he has helped" it sounded like Billie had somehow ignored charities, I didn't realise you meant as in without taking that into account. Anyway, it's not like we'll ever know what he's like in his personal life.
Pat1308
Well, Billie could be a prick for all we know, but at least he's a prick who makes some nice music.
localinsomniac
He's probably a perfectly decent guy. Why would anybody who has just met him lie about how he treated them? Like anybody else, it's a matter of catching the guy at the right or wrong time.
Z J
Yeah idk how people can jump to so many conclusions on Billie's personality based on what seems like weak evidence. The only real thing that I've gathered about him through watching interviews is that he is passionate. His broadway idiot interviews don't give off a prickish vibe at all. I actually thought it was really interesting to hear Billie express how excited he was to have interesting dialogue about his own melodies/writing with the musical people. I think the words were "...a conversation I'd wanted to have my whole life" And I just think that was quite cool.
JOE THE X-KID
I think he's just quite a shy and nervous person when he's not on stage which I can relate to. Everyone gets angry at times.
Guest
I dunno, I make snap judgements about people's characters within minutes of knowing them and I'm rarely wrong. I feel like I've know BJ for almost a decade now, and I've accepted the fact that he's a bit of a dick and I wouldn't want to be his friend. There's always Mike. You've known his public image for almost a decade. That's something quite different to knowing him personally. I'm not even saying you're wrong, I'm saying no one outside his personal life can ever know either way. But yes, there's always Mike.
Hermione
Lol at people thinking they know what kind of a person someone is when they've never even met them. I mean you can get a vague idea, but you can't really draw any conclusions unless you know them. Isn't it 'I wanna jump out'? Which kinda fits in with the whole anxious feeling of the song; like the narrator wants to jump out of somewhere and stop being so anxious. Or some crap like that. I'm sure Hermione will explain it!You've just made me realize I don't know what it says and it doesn't say it in the lyric booklet . I hear it as "Pride (or something with an "i" sound anyway), what is your pay out?". I seriously don't know though. Your version makes sense with the song as well but it's so hard to hear that who knows. Someone needs to ask Billie this.
Anaïs.
Someone needs to ask Billie this. Billie's hard-pressed to remember the lyrics to songs he wrote five years ago.
Spike
I always thought it was "I wanna jump out" too. It makes sense in context too.
