What about them?

They're not exactly a shining example of Billie's greatest song-writing :P

Well yeah, that's true! I do think it gets unfairly slated though, it's hardly the worst on the Trilogy.

There are plenty of songs on every GD album that aren't shining examples of Billie's song writing abilities...

That's like saying "Armenia, Darfur, Indonesia—pick which is the worst genocide." :P Honestly, the painful lack of self-awareness of Billie singing about "living a cliche" before launching into the incredibly cliched chorus is just facepalm-inducing.

And you don't think that's intentional?

If it were any one of their previous albums I'd be more inclined to give Billie the benefit of the doubt, but the Trilogy as a whole is so full of that lack of self-awareness that I chalk it up to most likely being more of the same.

Fair enough really, I just think that one's too obvious to not be totally intentional. I hope I'm right, anyway :P

None with more than the trilogy that's for sure

You've never listened to the perfection of Insomniac or American Idiot then? :P

Oh come on, how could anyone legitimately argue that WASN'T intentional? Carpe Diem is one of the most obvious clichés there are. It's the hipster version of YOLO. You're right.

I thought the hipster version of YOLO was YOLO. I didn't know Latin was hipster, anyway.

What I meant is Carpe Diem was promoting the YOLO lifestyle before YOLO was even a thing.

Well at least it didn't do the same thing as 99 Revolutions and bring the whole thing back up months after it stopped being relevant :P

I got yelled at in a thread for saying Occupy was lame, but 99 Revolutions like 2 years later was even lamer than that. That's back when everyone was all "TRILOGGGY IS EPIC!!!"

I'm now trying to picture BJA working that phrase into a song. "Let yourself YOLO, let yourself YOLO, let yourself YOOOOOOLOOOOO..." Doesn't quite work, does it?

When it first came out and a bunch of new people came on the site. (Granted, I was still pretty new too.) I got lectured about how Occupy was the movement of our generation or some shit and was fighting for disadvantaged people, etc. I can't remember for the life of me who said it.

Ah, I too remember the days of old when everyone loved the Trilogy. Those were the glory days. Cynical people we have become.

I prefer "discerning". :P

This thread has almost single-handedly ruined 70 percent of what I liked or was indifferent about on the Trilogy tbh
