TwoWatches
To be honest, I get that with most of Billie's lyrics. But I guess I've been through absolutely 0 of the problems that he has, so maybe that's it.... ...you've never spent a lazy day masturbating?
Mar
Ugh, EJN. The guitar is just so monotonous to me and it's not awful, but it's just not that rewarding of a listening experience to me. There are some great lyrics in there, but I wish it was better overall.
AlissaGoesRAWR
Mark's voice is far more easy on teh ears than Tom's. Mark.... Oh definitely, he has some great lyrics, even if I don't find them that relateable. My problem/dislike is that sometimes his writing can be quite abstract, and I can never get to grips with that. Sometimes it's just bad - 'we're to old to be misbehaved' - sorry, what?! Trilogy lyrics don't count. Well, some of them. Some of them are OK too. That one's just a bad example.

The Disappearing Boy
21 Guns is nothing special on teh album, but teh live version is incredible. That said, I'm honestly not sure how it might work without teh huge backdrop and pyros from teh 21st Century Breakdown tour. I mean, it does simply sound better live, but it was massively enhanced by teh visuals. I find it a bit grating sometimes. Like how Billie can't do the falsetto so he either butchers it, or gets the crowd to sing it. Or after the solo when he repeats the chorus about 6 million times. I do like the piano on the live version, though.
Hermione
If they never played Holiday/BOBD live again it'd be fine by me. Replace 'em with EJN and 21 Guns.I prefer BOBD to 21 Guns, better song and it's cool when the crowd sings half a verse and Billie does the bowing down to the crowd thing (or occasionally a headstand). Plus watching Jason's hand playing the guitar at the end and exchanging amused glances with my sister when Billie sings the last "...that's beating" lower as always is entertaining.Agreed on Holiday/EJN though! Both create the same type of atmosphere, difference being EJN has the awesome saving a child bit. Plus there's already a rallying American politics themed song on the setlist (American Idiot). Seems a no brainer that EJN should replace it.
localinsomniac
I'LL MAKE YOU SURRENDER I'LL MAKE YOU SURRENDER I'LL MAKE YOU SURRENDER I'LL MAKE YOU SURRENDER Sorry, wrong song. Jesus Christ. Half of that album's lyrics just sound like a sexually frustrated teenager trying to be clever, don't they?
Pat1308
Jesus Christ. Half of that album's lyrics just sound like a sexually frustrated teenager trying to be clever, don't they? I think teh music's fine, but a portion of teh lyrics are just so...I don't know what to call it. Particularly the repetitive 'I'll make you surrender' - I think it's kinda tacky. Anaïs.
I am not amused by this year's April Fool's joke, everyone. Actually, it's kinda awesome, I just hate that I look uneducated when people quote me and the word "the" crops up. I don't see how he could have been when he was bonking Lady Cobra every night. OH MY GOD I NEARLY PUT LADY NIGHTLIFE INSTEAD OF COBRA #youknowyouvebeenongdctoolongwhen I think Lady Nightlife's a much cooler name, actually.

Backyard Skulls
Mark is better looking and a better signer than Tom "In thee car I just cent wayt tew peeck yew up on our very feirst dayte. Is it kewl if I hewld yewr hyand?" I finally got around to listening to shenanigans, it's sad when an album full of b-sides is better than the majority of the trilogy
Guest
I finally got around to listening to shenanigans, it's sad when an album full of b-sides is better than the majority of the trilogy B-sides are often a lot better than songs that actually make the album, they just don't fit the theme, style, or narrative of the album the band wants to release. That said, Green Day have barely released a dozen b-sides that weren't copy and paste covers. They're really not a b-side band.

Spike
Here, read this. It'll clean you right up (its negative opinion on 21CB aside). Sputnik Music do valid Green Day reviews now? I remember that site when it was MXTabs and the comments sections on every single Green Day tab consisted entirely of "what a shit song/band etc."

Certified Nimrod
And "Reading 2013- and a half" wait...say that again Billie... I still don't understand what that meant The first time I heard SWTRLF was at the Brixton gig, and since I didn't know what it was I honestly thought it was a Sweet Children song or something because of how badly written it was. Spike
BUT THE SOLO It's hardly One For The Razorbacks, though. Ergo meh. I get really depressed listening to "Burnout" and "Basket Case" these days, because then I go back to listening to Tre of the last ten years and think "What fucking happened?" I feel the same when listening to American Idiot. I'd say on balance that's Tre's best album, although Dookie is undoubtedly pretty good. Shame they had to edit the crap out of it in the studio.
