But I wasn't there to see you there. And as Ken Ham has taught us, unless I was there personally I can't confirm you were there. Unless it's the origins of the universe, because Jizzus.

But speaking of this, I've stated in the past that I unequivocally like the AAF CD more than BIAB, but now I think it's a little closer. Watching it yesterday I realized that Billie's performance goes from meh to incredible as the show continues on. AI/JOS/Holiday were nothing incredible but then from Are We the Waiting on he and the band just keep getting stronger and stronger. Hitchin A Ride is absolutely fantastic.

I've got to agree with that whole-heartedly. I love AAF, but BIAB is an amazing live performance.

I actually really like the in-your-face neon theme of the Trilogy artwork—it's just the crappy Instagram photos that ruin it for me.

I don't know, man, it just really fucking depresses me. Just looking at the Trilogy artwork and forgetting what it's attached to, it looks like so much fucking fun. I just really wish that they'd pared it down to a double album, really fucking focused on getting the lyrics perfect and livening up the arrangements/dynamics, worked with Vig again instead of Cavallo, and actually had the balls to record it live with dirty guitar tone. I'm just picturing the vibe of Exile on Main St. with Green Day doing it and oh my shit that could have been the best thing ever. That, in the end, is why I so despise the Trilogy—not the poor quality (though it does suck balls) but because it was such a disappointing delivery on what was promised.

Basically, if it were completely different to what it actually was! Though I do completely agree with you. The Trilogy was full of so many good ideas, but they were executed terribly.

Nailed it.

The Death of St. Jimmy and Dearly Beloved are tied as my absolute favorite thing they've ever recorded.

I love death of St. Jimmy. The whole 'Jesus fillin out paperwork now' verse is brilliant too.

Basically Homecoming is amazing. That is a fact!!!

I know, I was just mentioning the brilliance of that verse in addition to the brilliance of the Death of St. Jimmy.

I mean, just in case I haven't said it before, I do quite like Homecoming :)

I was thinking about this earlier. The thing is, there aren't too many truly terrible songs on the Trilogy. Off the top of my head I can think of Wild One, Nightlife, Amy and The Forgotten. I wouldn't even include Oh Love in that list as that belongs in the category which makes up 75% of the rest of the Trilogy - boring. Not bad songs, but also not particularly great. Just thoroughly, depressingly middle-of-the-road. The Trilogy is also full of good ideas that were badly executed. Nightlife would have worked well if it had decent lyrics and a decent rapper (and get rid of that terrible vocal filter), songs like SDV, Ashley, Baby Eyes all had fairly decent melodies in the vocals and other good bits, but just ended up boring. So many other songs - DRB, 99 Revs, Stop!, Kill the DJ, Let Yourself Go would have been good with just a bit more tweaking. I guess we should be grateful that the Trilogy at least gave us some good songs, but we can only hope for better next time.

Yes homecoming appreciation

Unpopular opinion, I much preferred the opening on the 21cb tour, the building guitars on the intro to 21cb just added to the atmosphere so much. Although it was my first concert I got goosebumps when I heard the opening, especially once the electric guitar and drums started <3 the 99 revs tour opening was fun but I didn't feel that same excitement.

Damn, Reading 2004 was something special.

Also, I wish that Last Night on Earth: Live in Tokyo had kept the very end of American Eulogy in. Billie singing "Nobody Likes You" while the backing vocals are still going on...chills.

I think that's probably one of the most popular opinions there is! That intro was just perfect, they'll never top it. That run of YMCA, Do You Remember Rock n Roll Radio, Song Of The Century into 21st Century Breakdown with the band coming on during the guitar intro was absolutely amazing.

It was, I honestly don't think they've ever done a better gig. Surely the best crowd ever, too.

Sucks when they play their songs as they are on the albums, doesn't it?

Actually, you know what would've made it even more awesome? Keep the harmonizing, but as soon as Billie sings "They're all out without you having fun", segue directly into "Letterbomb", minus a big speech in the middle.

Oh my god. Can you be Green Day's musical director, please?

I'm up for it. Maybe Andres and the rest of you lot can give me some recommendations so Billie Joe doesn't slam the door in my face. ;)
