I've noticed Billie chews gum more now when he sings

He’s been doing that more since RevRad (since he got all new caps/dental work). Bridgework will make your mouth dry. He said in an interview once that Dave Grohl taught him the gum trick. There’s a scene going back to Cuatro in 2011 where he’s annoying Lady Cobra in the vocal booth with his gum chewing in her monitors. “It lubes you up” 😄

Yes that makes sense with caps and dentures

We complain about Green Day not playing songs from certain albums.  Nothing from Trilogy, Rev Rad or FOAM - that's crazy!  This is not a Green Day specific problem.  I've heard venues and promoters are essentially in control of what artists play, so the creativity on writing a set is out the window.   It may have come from Covid,  and sure everyone wants every show to be a big hit, to sound nice and all that.  But dang.

Musicians are in a bad situation.

If you want to find some interesting stuff, go to spotify and search Green day.   Go to "appears on" and there's an endless supply of compilations and stuff that are really interesting.   Listening to a live performance from an album called "Welcome to the 90s" right now.   For the completist in us, there are 50 playlists and you can like the songs multiple times, making you MORE of a fan.   Let Spotify how much you love Green Day.

I heart 655 songs.   Beat my number!

Back when I was collecting I bought loads and loads of compilations with Green Day included on them and I don't have anywhere near all of them. One day I'll have to make a list of them (when I can find them all - we moved 12 years ago but they're all still in boxes

Most of the playlists and compilations were the big ones.    Basketcase, When I Come Around, Broken Dreams, American Idiot, Wake Me Up When September Ends.  I think Welcome to Paradise was on a few.    I found it hilarious that Boulevard of Broken Dreams was on a playlist called Upbeat Songs 2023 or something like that.  What?   Haha

I have a quite a few with some lesser known songs on but don't remember off the top of my head without seeing them all

I started collecting random compilations featuring some of favorite bands on them years ago and it's funny what I end up with. Never thought I would actually own the Godzilla or x files soundtrack 😂

Honestly, the significant increase in Spotify listeners over the past year can be attributed to the anniversary of "Dookie." It was featured in many playlists. If they were to release "American Idiot" with individual tracks, "Letterbomb" and "St. Jimmy" would also make it into several playlists. The new album needs to appear in various places for people to get to know it. The general fan base seems to revolve around "Dookie" and "American Idiot."

Please do not respond to this comment. It's just a speculation. Thank you.

setlist.fm needs to fix this:    Welcome to Paradise always shows up as a Kerplunk song when it's almost certainly meant as a Dookie song.     I always see that green day played 4 Dookie songs and 2 Kerplunk songs and I'm like "nope".       This bugs me even though I have bigger things to worry about.    Maybe I should buy one of those Worry Rock's billie was singing about.     Do they work?

Just listened to Father of All in full to contrast it to Saviors (well, what we have so far).

a few thoughts:

1) God, the production is abysmal. It's badly mixed, muffled vocals, all kinds of unnecessary bits and bobs, weird guitar tones etc. etc. There's so much wrong with it, it's hard to list everything. Listening to the two recent singles (TADIKM and LMNB) demonstrates just what a difference it makes to have Cavallo and CLA back on the team. Song-writing is one thing, but the difference in production is also just night and day.

2) Whilst most songs on the album make me physically nervous/twitchy and I sit there watching the clock in the hope that it will finally end and put me out of my misery, Graffitia is actually a really solid song. I remember thinking this back in 2020 and I still do. Really glad they played it in Vegas a few weeks ago, here's hoping it sees the light of day at other shows too :)

I can imagine that's because it came out on Kerplunk first, but that's just a wild guess🤔

Yeah, that's almost certainly why.   But their playing it because it's a big hit from Dookie.    International Superhits doesn't list it as a Kerplunk song, but a Dookie song.   God's Favorite Band....same thing.      Maybe one day'll I'll fight this.    But not tonight.   I got Cherry Limeade sparkling water to drink

Green Day should roll out a big piano onto the stage and have a gospel choir of 100 women join them.    End the show with I WAS A TEENAGE TEENAGER.

Featuring Elton John and Enya for some reason.

Oh gosh, Stab You in the Heart came on and I gotta go turn it off.

So my presale code for the tour just arrived, that’s all fine and dandy, but why didn’t they have one in place for the club shows? I mean, I assume the logic is that they would risk selling out, before getting to general sale, but honestly, even if they did, would that be such a tragedy? It would mean anyone that attended the show would be dedicated enough to have preordered their newest album. Cannot really see the problem in that tbh. If the worry is a financial one (ie. some people did not at the time have the funds to preorder), then they could reserve a part of the tickets for general sale with a lottery system. Though that seems unlikely and weird given the pricing. Or they could just have done that in general: a two round sale, first with access codes, then without, both times it’s a lottery draw.

Now yes that would have been more effort, but honestly if you just play a handful of club shows and announce them broadly everywhere, including on major ticketing sites, demand is gonna be huge. I think the presale access codes are one elegant way to grant priority in such a scenario.

Give Me Novocaine is Green Day's most streamed non-single with 63 millions plays.    Burnout and 2000 Light Years Away are also some of the most streamed.     Last Night on Earth is also a big one.

Well Give Me Novacaine/She's A Rebel since they're combined. Whatsername is also up there with 62 million streams. Last Night on Earth started getting a lot more streams in the past year or so. It used to be around the same as East Jesus Nowhere in terms of streams

That’s interesting to me! I would have guessed something like St Jimmy as being up there. Burnout and 2000LYA makes sense as they’re album openers. I’m also so pleased Burnout seems to be on the setlist because it’s one of my favourites.
