Random Green Day Thoughts

Debating writing a poem using phrases from Green Day... like:

I would probably have been "an accountant" or something only but then people would think I'm worth nothing, but that isn't how opportunity goes and at least this way I keep ya on your toes...     for what possibly could happen without repeating "haha you're dead" while stuck in a suit-case going over someone else's debt...      is it better off much to live your life this way... instead of getting out and having time to play...   doing what you like to be possibly doing

Someone posted that they had the demo for Cigarettes and Valentines in their collection:

I'm not fully convinced, and figured it might warrant a reply here instead of its own thread. OP said they had it a long time and can't remember where they found it... not the most convincing story. The singer sounds passingly like Billie, but I think the quality is intentionally low to mask any overt differences.

That's weird, I clicked on something, and the next page came up with Cigarettes & Valentines the album, listing 24 tracks; Cigarettes & Valentines, Too Much Too Soon, Favorite Son, Governator, Clusterbomb, Private Hell, Shoplifter, What About Today, Lights Out, Tales Of Another Broken Home, She's A Rebel, Rock and Roll Girlfriend, All Systems Down, Hearts Collide, Right Hand A Rama, I Fought The Law, Things I've Heard Today, Minnesota Girl, When It's Time, Foiled Can, Boys In The Bathroom Stall, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Why Does It Always Rain On Me.

Some I of course have heard before are legit', others don't sound like Billie Joe and some the quality is very poor.

The song, Pollyanna's title reminded me of a movie that has a fictional character who used to be one of my role models.   I really should watch the entire movie again but may end up crying at the end of it like I did years ago.     I really enjoyed the prism scene and the glad game.  I did not understand the importance of the glad game but it's all about perception changing, just as Green Day's song is about perception changing.    

When Holy Toledo came out I was appalled at first but then I noticed something...   perhaps they aren't wanting to get into trouble but wanting to sing about the problem so that others can see where the trouble starts so that they can avoid repeating it.    I should really go back through the lyrics and think about them differently. 

Macy's Day Parade however seems to be an I'm sick of waiting on you therefore I'm going to lose patience and break up with you song.... which proves that they don't love the subject of the song... because.... well...     Love is patient.    A person who really loves themself ... well it can be argued they'd be more patient than breaking their engagement with themself... yet at the same time I see why they did it... they wouldn't want to be a Narcissist. 

As to Billie being a perfectionist... he will not ever be truly happy as long as he seeks perfection over love... so I hope he isn't doing that. 

Love in an art form does not judge the art but accepts the art and the raw emotion for which it stands. 

Perhaps a theme isn't what is needed for 1972 yet the title of it already indicates a themed album, but then.... perhaps the theme is being written out of something other than writer's block.

My 4 year old son is discovering how great American Idiot, which is fantastic.

He is, however, trying to figure out all the words.   Cussing is fine because my ex wife cusses like a sailor, but he's asking me what a fack-bag is, haha.  That's what he thinks Billie is saying in American Idiot and Holiday.  🤦

It is really interesting to see him listening to the story and piecing it together.   

He made up with own version of Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

"I am all alone in this world.  No one is here with me" intermixed with Twinkle Little Star.  😄

There’s Carolina in the title because the word cunt starts with C. But let me explain:

1, “rhymes with chlamydia”

If the song is about Lydia, more than anything it just makes Billie look like an idiot more than anything else. Like, yeah it's un-feminist, it's gross. But more than anything, I'm just thinking is Billie stupid? Writing something like this and releasing it publicly, even if it is just under a side project just seems really really stupid to me

I think it’s that he can get away with it. He never openly says it’s about her so no one can really confront him about it. But I agree it makes him look like an idiot. I’d excuse it because his judgement might not always be perfect, but he’s done this before with Platypus so I guess it’s his kind of thing relatively consistently.
