Yep, and I got Whammed really early on 🥹🥹

I always argue with my sister about this since I believe the Jimmy Eat World version is far, far superior.

I cannot abide that Wham song, don’t know the Jimmy Eat World version but it must be better, may check it out.  Or not.

Definitely listen to it!  I heard it long before I ever knew it was a cover.  When I first heard the Wham version, I was like what the...  Who the hell would do this to the Jimmy Eat World song!

Maybe we get Whammed harder in the UK. I'd probably like that Jimmy Eat World cover if I'd never heard the Wham version, but I've worked at a supermarket at Christmas and that tells you all you need to know about my relationship with Wham.

Xmas TIme of the Year is perfectly OK, but I might punch something if I heard it over and over, every year. I used to like All I Want for Christmas but yeah, retail at Christmas. I do like these versions of Green Day songs though.

I might have included a few of these in my "work appropriate "Christmas playlist.😎

Listening to Alkaline Trio tonight and just made a Green Day connection.

"This Could Be Love" mentions the Berkley Marina, the same one that Billie Joe mentions in "the ballad of wilhelm fink".

There it is.   Definitive proof that Matt Skiba is Mongo Fink, and Billie Joe is his older brother, Wilhelm.

Got a new phone or Xmas (got it early bc I LOST MY PHONE AT THE AIRPORT HAHAHA) and with it I'm finally able to view my full Spotify wrapped. WMUWSE won my most played song and said I played it 40 times on February 28th which I just don't remember??? I must've been going through it that day holy fuck

Haha I had a similar thing happen with Holy Toledo. It came up as my most played song and I know it was because when I came out I had it on repeat for over an hour (yeah, I liked it 😊)

Lyrically, what is the happiest Green Day album overall?

I'm thinking Warning, but what do you guys think?  Rev Rad is bleak.  Take out Bouncing off the Individual Wall and However-Old-Adrienne-is-Blood and it's an abyss of sadness and despair.

21st Century Breakdown is the most depressing album and I love it for that lol. With the exception of See the Light, every song is just really dark in one way or another

I'd agree with you that Warning is the happiest album. It's their most optimistic album for sure

Last Night on Earth and Last of the American Girls are on the more positive lyrical vibe, but yeah.  You might be right.

The anecdote from the gal on Jeopardy tonight was about how she met Green Day when she was a baby. Apparently all she did was stare at Tre’s green hair, hah.

So I know I'm late and xmas is over....but I cannot believe how the classic Wham song Last Christmas is getting slammed! I thought it was a cherished classic! I absolutely love that song (the Jimmy Eat World version is good too!). For some reason it gives me warm fuzzy feelings whenever I hear it. It's one of the few xmas songs that perfectly captures the season for me (along with Eurythmics version of Winter Wonderland). If there's one xmas song that I like but can no longer stand it's definitely All I Want for Christmas is You...unless it's the MCR version.

Yeah, I noticed it was down the past few days too.  The Muse one is down too.

Same. That's the issue I've run into several times with these Heardle offshoots hosted on glitch-me. They all just stop working. I used to do a metal one that stopped working. The NIN one also doesn't work.

These sound like the same kind of people who slam The Anthem by Good Charlotte because “UNORIGINAL! EMO!”

I think the biggest problem with it is that living in the Uk and it being such a huge hit, we hear it so often it’s got to be really horrible for people.  I was never a Wham fan nor liked the song so however many years on, to still be hearing it so much is just grating.  It’s everywhere all the time round Christmas.

Yes, maybe Warning, possibly FOAM?

Since 39/Smooth in 1990 up to Warning as well as a new awesome sound to fry your brain, you could relate to Billie Joe's lyrics which where dark and sometimes depressing. Coz that was happening to you. Pissed off, living in slums, no work, no money, and a government who didn't give a fuckin shit. Songs about life, which was shit, about you coz your shit. And the happier moments with songs about girls, who were not shit.
