Random Green Day Thoughts

I would say not to wait if you want to see them more than once and have the chance.  Another tour of Europe could be two years away and apart from a new song or two may not change that much from what they’re doing now.

Yeah that’s the view I’m leaning to, but I’m not sure if it’s worth seeing twice. I’ll decide after the show I have a ticket for…

Plus I have a feeling that they’re relatively close to calling it quits (tour, casino, Las Vegas is the next and then retiring/a cruise).

I knew Somewhere Now was heavily inspired by The Who, but I didn't know it sounds exactly like this song:

How did they get away with that without a co-credit when songs like Outlaws and Still Breathing borrowed single line melodies only?

Setlist.fm does something that really bugs me when it comes to Green Day.

They list "Welcome To Paradise" as a Kerplunk song and not a Dookie song.   I know it's on both, but come on.

Everytime I look at the stats, I'm like "huh, only 3 Dookie....wait a minute!"

What do you guys think?   Does it count as representing both albums, or are they playing a version that represents only one or the other?   I personally think they are playing the Dookie version, but whatever helps them sleep at night, I guess.   :)

Also, I hope they keep rotating out NImrod tracks.   Scattered is the best song they've played in a LONG time.

Oh, and Longview will hit 1000 performances with just 39 more shows.

I wonder if the boys get their own separate rooms at hotels or if they do a big suite together. They probably have different sleeping habits or routines for going to bed/waking up so it would make more sense for them to be on their own. They need to be guaranteed good rest while they're expending all that energy on tour.

We know they often share buses, but guess they don’t often sleep on then anymore.  I think they would get their own rooms.

I'd say they're playing the Dookie version. I hadn't even thought about considering it a Kerplunk song to be honest! I suppose it is essentially the same song though so any finicky Setlist.fm editors are going to insist on listing it as a Kerplunk song.

I have finally chiseled my top 10 Green Day songs out of the 64 finalists.   Feel free to roast me, as I know this list might cause some of you great distress since there are no Dookie tracks on here.   Stuart and the Ave is the oldest song on the list and it put up a fierce battle against my favorite singles, like Holiday, Minority and Hitchin a Ride to get here.   Welp, back to work on the other 54.   :)

1.       Too Dumb To Die

2.       American Eulogy

3.       Still Breathing

4.       The Saints Are Coming

5.       Scattered

6.       Rusty James

7.       Haha You’re Dead

8.       Brutal Love

9.       Stuart and the Ave.

10.   Restless Syndrome

I love this list, apart from the one cover. I’m not a fan of the song but also covers shouldn’t count for favorite GD songs IMO.

I've got a list of favorite studio album songs as well, but this list was from everything they've ever done.     I was very tempted to put Saints Are Coming as my #1 choice because I love it that much, but hey.   We all hear things differently.   Covers almost overtook my whole top 10!   A Quick One While He's Away, We Are the Champions, Hybrid Moments, Working Class Hero, Surrender, Bastards of Young, Johnny B Goode, The Kids Are Alright....  imagine if Too Dumb To Die was the only original in the list...

But here's the real kicker....Tre Cool's Chocolate Rain cover was in the running.

Not kidding.

:)

These need more tinkering, but I'm working on my top 10 singles, album cuts, b-sides and finally, covers.

I think this is the first time I'm seeing this full photo (usually only see the top portion). That guitar case really looks like real alligator or crocodile skin and that makes me sad. :(

I’ve never seen that at all. What’s it from? Looks like 2010-11ish?

I love to watch a behind the scenes of how this kind of video is made, as I'd love to learn this skill.

Too bad Graffitia wasn't a single.

Not only was my morning Uber to work a Tesla, Brainstew was playing as soon as I got in.

Today's gonna be a good day.

I got a Hawaiian pizza yesterday night and all I could think was Billie would hate this. It's pineapple on pizza.

Mods, we need an instant ban for anyone eating pineapple pizza on GDA.   :) Billie Joe is not the only one, but he'd be leading the angry mob coming for you.    A quick stop at a China shop and the law of the land is doom.

You know this is how Pizzagate starts, right?

Don't know where else to post this.

The Final Jeopardy category a few days ago was '1972'. I don't remember the clue, but wanna say it had something to do with Watergate.

Anyway the answer ended up being Richard Nixon, which brought me to the opening line of 21CB.

And sometime last week there was a clue wherein the correct response was Who is Holden Caulfield?

I am old and I love Jeopardy!.

Feels really weird to look at setlists they're doing right now and NOT see She anymore. I think there never has been a tour nor period where they didn't play it (even on secret shows and shit it was played). End of an era to my favorite live song for now :(

Holiday was playing on the radio during my driving test the other day. Radio X is great. They play quite a lot of Green Day. Still failed the test though :ga:

Every time I see myself on the leaderboard in 2nd or 3rd place, I start singing "Horseshoes and Handgrenades".
