Random Green Day Thoughts

Thinking about how the American Girl 80s character, Courtney Moore, was 10 years old in 1986. She lives around the bay area in California. She'd be 12 when Sweet Children formed in 88 and 16 in '92 when Green Day released Kerplunk. Thus, it would be entirely possible that she and her older sister would've probably seen Green Day live before they made it 'big' with Dookie in 1994, when she'd be 18. (Yes I love American Girl at the age of 26, come at me)

So basically, in the 80s, this teacher created a series of 3 dolls, all from different time periods: American Frontier times (1850s), Edwardian Era (1904), and the USA in WWII. Each doll came with a set of 6 books, and outfits. (All sold separetely, besides for the 1st book is packaged in with each doll). They later added more dolls and eras, but they were very well-known for being extremely well-researched. In addition, starting in the 90s they started releasing just regular 'dolls of today' and then baby dolls, but they still make a lot of books. I definitely credit the company with my love and thirst for history, and the reason why I'm a writer today. Honestly, I could write you an entire essay on how much I love AG, just as important to me as Green Day I would say.

@The Grohl YES THERE IS and she's ok. I like the 80s aesthetic, definitely. Also found it funny how they had her be from 1986 just so her Xmas doll could be Molly. Unfortunately, the quality of the dolls has gone down significantly and even tho the historicals are still important they don't really take special care of them anymore, which is kinda sad.

Aww that's sad to hear they're not the same quality. I remember AG being THE thing you had to get. The phenomenon was so wild they had hair and skin products...for your doll!! I was all in 🤣

Back in the day I had Molly, Samantha, and Addy (she was my first). Now I just have (most of) Addy 👀

Sometimes the googles do what I want them to do, yay!   Over on the Redundant Green Day Podcast, a certain quote caught my attention about 21 Guns.       I've heard Billie Joe say so many things about that song, be it related to anything from war to divorce.     But this one is MORE interesting, because it's personal to Billie, and probably the real genisis of the song idea.    That darn American Idiot era, man.    It really did some damage.    I hope he's found his way back.

Deep into Green Day lore tonight.     Escapism of the strangest kind.

Anyway, I found this nugget and it blew my mind:

Sugar - Sweet

Youth - Children.

What do you call a Green Day fan?

Green Day fans are called 'Idiots'. That's presumably because of their hit song 'American Idiot'. [ Reprise Records]

That seems to be a pattern with him. There’s that other older interview where he’s said he needs to create drama and pick fights with people to make himself feel even worse and write.

I have a feeling Sugar Youth was about a different kind of sugar :D

When nothing feels right. i'm just so glad for GD and music in general😣 mentally idk whats wrong with me, I just don't feel right. But I listened to Pollyanna and it made me cry lol... concerts are the only way I feel ok. And I'm just grateful I get to see GD again in July and August. Just gotta save up more money and be super cheap in the meantime so I can afford to go to even more, I don't feel ok everyday but as soon as the lights hit and I'm in the first or 2nd row of the pit at a Green Day concert, I feel ok💚 and all my troubles are gone for in that moment.

I just got back from Thailand and I am, of course, reporting that I saw shirts saying "God's favourite" and "live out loud" in Bangkok. I would've bought them but I'm no good at bargaining and I wasn't paying 150 baht per fugly shirt, not even for Green Day. I saw people wearing them too. I doubt they had any idea they were Green Day references but I was still like :ga:

You know your mental health is not at its best when concerts are coming but you aren't excited. You basically feel nothing about this

Actually, it's not that I don't feel anything. I'm a shitty person I guess because I'm already tired of hearing "let's queue 32424 first, let's do this, let's do that. We have to run."
I'm getting anxious. The Italian dates are less than a month away and I have no train tickets and no place to sleep. To make a point.

In all this I have a friend, she is not a fan but she wants to see Green Day and she cares about this concert she would stay with me the night after.
She has already told me "I'm telling you right now (because she knows I want to get there as soon as possible and try to be iat front row) if we don't get together and hang out I already know I'm going to be alone in the corner and have a shitty night, I'm going to get nervous and I don't feel like it! So in case, I'm selling the ticket!" Wait what
This + the fact that I am not very convinced about sleeping on the floor the night before but from what I understand I can say goodbye to the front row = I can't. No, I can't. I don't wanna live on this planet anymore

I understand you very well. Hope you feel better and hope you have so much fun 🥰 I remember the concert in Italy in 2017 where I was in the front row in front of Jason. The feeling I felt was "I feel so alive."

My son was playing with his xylophone early today and I just came across it and figured I'd give it a shot.

When I Come Around is super easy to play on guitar, so I've been translating that to xylophone language and while I'm still terrible after several minutes of playing, it's starting to sound like Green Day.   Woo hoo!

Duh nuh / nuh nuh / nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh

I've noticed that almost all the more modern Green Day songs with vocal "harmony" are just Billie's voice layered on top of itself (or it sounds like it). I love his voice and I think that's great, but I really miss his true harmonies with Mike, where Billie sings the melody and Mike does the harmony. That really can't be beat. Songs that come to mind for an example are Word's I Might Have Ate and Haushinka. Such beautiful harmonies in those! I hope they'll give that a try again.

Could not agree more!

So I'm on a cruise full of old people and was expecting all the singers/bands to be singing boring slow old people songs but then I walked into the bar and the guy was singing WMUWSE :D

I HATE myself right now. Yesterday I booked the flight to Copenhagen + I got the ticket
I don't know why I didn't purchase also the flight back to Milan "I will think about it tomorrow"
Now it's 200 €. Yesterday it was like 100. Fuck!

Been doing a deep dive on the Trilogy lately and I forgot what a fucking banger Dirty Rotten Bastards is! The song seems lackluster in my memory but when I heard it recently I was like damn this song is great!

I really like Fire Ready Aim, but I just cannot unhear "stick a hammer in your bum." It gets more stuck, not less, the more I hear it...

OH no now I'm gonna hear it too!

It's really, really grown on me too. I liked it but didn't get the hype around it when it was released. Now I love it
