If a stable, reliable setlist of hits is easier for him, maybe that’s just how it has to be. I’m not saying the two always have to go together but it is true the set lists were often wilder when he was messed up and being impulsive.

I was at that show and at the time no one thought anything about any of it until iHeart happened. Everyone says in hindsight Billie was f**ked up that night but at the time it was far from people's minds
Popular Post solongfromthestars
I really don't think setlists are something we need to start associating with Billie's issues. They were more varied back then because Green Day were still very relevant, which meant more people were interested in hearing deep cuts (especially at a small show like Shepherd's Bush). Even on the 99 Revolutions Tour there were some pretty exciting setlists because that was before the trilogy's lack of success was clear. It's not that deep.

It was obvious that the trilogy was a commercial flop by the time 99 Revolutions tour started so I don’t think it had anything to do with the album’s success either.
BillieJoe727
I love when Billie Joe harmonizes with himself, especially on Rusty James.
Mar
I heard Good Riddance on what was the "oldies" station tonight. I think their programming format has broadened in recent years, but it was still jarring to hear my favorite band on the station my dad would listen to when I was a kid and annoy me 😂 2
Popular Post Slave To The Network
There's a customer who comes in to my work from time to time named Claire Armstrong, and every time I have the biggest urge to ask "Any relation to Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong?" even though it's a super common name and there's no way. But what if? What if she was like "Oh, yeah I'm his first cousin once removed" or some shit like that? I guess I'll never know! 1
Little Boy Named Booze
Don't know where to post this. In 2017 Green Day was supposed to do a North American tour only but they cancelled for different reason. I just heard from a big festival owner in Canada that they want to do this again but in late August in 2022. And this time they want to make it work. I really hope it's true. After cancelling Toronto I think we deserve it, us Canadians 😂

If they announce Toronto for next summer I think I’d go, it’s pretty close to me
jengd
Aargh just booked to go to Canada next summer, leaving Toronto on 1 Aug - if they do announce date close to that I’ll be gutted! Really hope you some dates in Canada though.
Popular Post Mar
I was helping a guest at work today, not looking too much at her since I needed to use my device to help her. I looked up and realized she was wearing a Hella Mega shirt. Let's just say I haven't been that kind to a guest in a while 😂

That Dude
Green Day are the busiest band ever. 1987 -2021 of Green Day Activity. Also, it's really annoying that the internet collectively changes the year of their formation all the time. I've seen every from 1985 to 1990. I know it depends on if you count Sweet Children years as formation of Green Day, but even that changes from time to time. Oh well. 87 to present. Popular Post Slave To The Network
I was talking with my mom today about my car and the various minor repairs I've done on it and then we went on a tangent about how older cars are easier to diy repair because they are all mechanical and don't have a computer in them like newer ones and someone we know just sold a car he rebuilt for like 80k and I said "You wouldn't know it by looking at him, but Billie Joe really likes rebuilding and restoring old cars." She said that didn't surprise her at all. She said "Oh, I can totally see that. If I were to guess his hobbies that would be one that I would put at the top of the list! He looks like a gear-head." 1

That Dude
I hope Billie actually writes a song called Shut The F!@#$ Up When October Begins. I imagine the same riff from Wake Me Up, but fast and gnarly. Very heavy metal. Some industrial vibes. And of course, Father of All style vocals. Maybe a musical nod to Too Dumb to Die as well, because that's one of their best. 1 2
