That’s true, but it was the release party - where else would they play these songs?

True. I don't know how much they were into the album. I still feel like they may have done it to troll Warner and get some more leverage that let them cut a better deal. (I don't want to speculate since you know how I feel about speculation LOL, though there is a big difference between speculating on professional work versus personal feelings.) 

I guess it is just weird because it feels like everything has been in suspended animation for the past year. It feels like so long since anything has happened, and yet that's inevitable given how everything was forced to stop. I do think when things do open up, Billie is going to feel like all of us, like we just got out of jail LOL, and I can't wait to see that level of joy and enthusiasm on stage. I think it will be epic no matter what they play.

I saw them on the Idiot tour and Rev Rad. Both arena shows (& at the same arena, too). Minimal song differences between the 2 tours that were (roughly) 15 years apart.

I didn’t mind that as I don’t go to GD shows religiously (2 shows since 2005). I was excited to see them in hella mega even though I knew going in to buying tickets I’d hear basically the same set list as the last two times and a maybe 1 new song off FOAM. 

they put on a fantastic show so it’s worth it to me

I went to 7 Green Day show from 4 different era and honestly this is basically the same show everytime. Except some new songs from each era.

 

BUT I LOVE THEM SO MUCH

I waited years to see them, then saw then 2009, 2010, missed out 2012/13 for which I will never forgive myself, saw them 2017 but only once when second show was cancelled and should be seeing HM but with that strike rate I’ll try to see them if they anything like close enough.  You guys who see them so often you can complain are lucky mofos!

Lucky mofos indeed!  I've only seen them twice, my first being 21CB and I missed the Trilogy tour because they never rescheduled the show after Billie's rehab. I don't really have the luxury of being able to travel much. I was super lucky that The Longshot did a show in Seattle and I had to really plan for seeing AI on Broadway (I guess that's technically the only GD related show I've traveled for) and I was able to stay with my cousin who lived in NY at the time.

Just realised that the Longshot album came out three years ago today

I'm not interested in travelling to multiple shows per tour but if they play in London (2 hour train ride away) my sister and I will always try to see them. Luckily they go there for every tour and have done some extra smaller shows there so starting in 2009 we've ended up seeing five GD shows + one FBHT, half of them being last minute surprise ones. All thanks to joining GDC, I certainly wouldn't have known about the surprise ones or how to get tickets for them etc without this place. I was amazed just to see them once on the 21st CB tour and went home satisfied, but then FBHT turned up one week later and the day after that they announced a stadium show the next year... . They're the only band I bother to go and see, really looking forward to seeing them again whenever that happens.

At least we just identified one thing GDC is good for! 🤣

This wasn't a person I had conflict with LOL. Also I am not sure I had actually had a conflict with any people, only a disagreement over an approach.

In hindsight, I'm even more grateful that I drove to DC for that shitshow of a Longshot show where we nearly died. Who would've known it would be my last Green Day-related gig for God knows how long.

I feel that way about traveling to St Louis for the All Star game show. Spent an uncomfortable twelve hours in the subfreezing temperatures to watch three songs but I had no idea at the time it would be the only time I would see them in 2020 so I’m glad I did it.  Weird that thousands of us were packed in the crowd less than two months before the world shut down.

Same. I had such mixed feelings on that show. First I felt dumb for traveling out for 3 songs, but after I was super thankful that I was able to go. Not only was it a special experience that only a few fans got to be a part of, but it was one of my last shows of 2020. So I consider myself very lucky that I got to see Green Day that year, especially since I didn't intend on going to HM.

Other songs may be played once or twice but I think those 5 will be the ones that will get played the most

My prediction if it’s based on what they originally intended is we’ll hear FOA and Oh Yeah and that’s it. Maybe MMOTR that would be great but they didn’t play it at the record release party so idk. At the RevRad release party they played several more songs that they then played on tour.  FRA they’ve only ever played for the NHL and honestly it was a strain for him and didn’t sound great. Graffitia I don’t think they rehearsed for the tour because they did their production and tour rehearsals already when the Asia dates were cancelled. About a month later Billie tried to play Graffitia for an at home video and he could barely remember it. I don’t think it was rehearsed for the tour or he would have known it better.

If I recall correctly, at the start of RevRad era, they only played BB, SB and RR. And then started playing other songs a bit later, mainly Youngblood and Ordinary World. And they did Forever Now sometimes. But they played other songs a couple of times like Somewhere Now and Troubled Times
