I’m feeling really emotional today about missing Green Day and that photo right there brought it all back. The inclusiveness, the generosity, the way they make every fan feel accepted and important. He gives us love we give it right back. It’s not something to take for granted, It’s not something every band does. It all comes from Billie and his desire to connect and create community, an extension of the community he came from. He wants people to love music and to get all the good feelings from it that he does. For outcast people lacking that kind of love and acceptance in their lives especially (I found it as an adult but did not have it for much of my life), being a part of Idiot Nation feels as necessary as breathing. I was watching one of the many many videos where he brings a fan onstage to play guitar, in this case a young girl, and she can’t play the chords so he has to pick someone else, but after he calls her back and gives her the guitar and tells her to practice. She says “I’ll do it for you”. That’s a fan that could have walked away feeling rejected and bad about herself and instead he gave her this gift of kindness and her memory is a positive one and she will go to the ends of the earth for him (or walk through a wall of spiders!) I have never once seen or heard a story of a fan interaction when he was not kind and generous. If those stories existed they’d be out there and they’re just not. That’s how special he is, I have rarely seen someone with such enormous empathy. It really matters to him that every person he comes into contact with have a positive experience. That feeling you come away with carries over into times when he’s not around and in ways he doesn’t even realize. I’m feeling Green Day’s absence more and more as we go into year two of no shows and now months of no online interaction. I get that he may need to do this for his own well being and mental health and I support it but it’s only because of the person he is that his absence leaves such a void. The occasional merch drop just can’t make up for it. That would make them just like every other band and they’re not like every other band. Sorry for going off but the longer it goes the harder it gets and I just needed to vent. 🥺 3 1

Beerjeezus
I’m surprised he’s able to live as privately as he seemingly does. It’s pretty impressive.
Slave To The Network
@pacejunkie punk you captured the true essence of what it is to be a Green Day fan and why this band and Billie are the rarest of the rare and absolutely to be cherished. I hadn't thought about why their absence, and Billie's in particular, is hitting us so hard, but you completely nailed it! It's because what we get is so special and when something like that is gone, it really does feel like there's a void where it was. 11 hours ago, Beerjeezus said: I’m surprised he’s able to live as privately as he seemingly does. It’s pretty impressive. It is impressive and that's another thing that I admire about him. Other celebrities are so vain and constantly talking about themselves and every little thing they're doing, thinking, etc. and spewing their opinions all over the place. No senses of privacy for themselves or others and it's fucking annoying. Even when Billie does share things with us when he's in a social media mood it's cool stuff that still allows him to have a personal life.

I am not nearly well enough versed but I think the original is actually from a very popular and famous classical piece which musicians have been using/borrowing for years and years, such is the difficulty with music! To be fair Billie hadn't exactly been complimentary about Oasis in the past

Flashback
Oh my god guys look what I've found. This is a picture of Pete and Meat, Billie's amps, taken during the rig rundown video of the 99 Revolutions Tour. The pink one is a Marshall but the silver one is a ... Look closely! This is the proof that members of THE NETWORK have infiltrated Green Day!!!
Christian's Inferno!
Does anyone know why Warning hasn't been certified platinum in the US yet? Like, it's sold 1.2 million copies in the US as of 2012 according to Wikipedia and platinum only requires 1 million units. I guess that could be incorrect (it's Wikipedia after all) but I still feel like it should've gone platinum by now, especially since streaming counts towards album units as of 2014 too & the album receives many millions of streams per year
Beerjeezus
Ever since I first saw the music video for Meet Me On The Roof, I couldn't stop feeling like I've already seen those sideburns somewhere else. I realized where last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuOhQZP821o

Fred's a good guitar name. He should name another guitar Fred LOL. My favorite part of this video is at 6:03/6:04 when I am pretty sure that Tre says, "There's a surplus of fishcakes." That sounds like a good problem to have. Fish cakes are amazing.

Rumpelstiltskin2000
On another note "Demolicious" is seven years old today! Now where the hell did that time go 2 minutes ago, BillieMyLove said: You just travel the whole world to follow Green Day, don't you? 🤣 A little. Not as much as some people And I may be too ill to attend Hella Mega even if it goes ahead this year (doubtful). No worries though. I'm very happy with what I have managed to do

The Grohl
I wish I had the means to follow some bands on tour. Green Day maybe, but I would love to follow a band like AFI or The Cure because they constantly change their set list.

I usually used to try to go to a show somewhere I had never visited before and kill two birds with one stone. There are some fans who try to be the person who's been to the most shows. That's not me, I've only ever counted because I was asked

Still want to see a full concert though.

This is when the setlist never changing comes in handy - you don’t have to worry about what show you go to because they’ll most likely play the same show give or take a couple songs.

I am sure that's true in the club shows, though I was also thinking about the tours. Don't they play stuff for whatever album they are touring for LOL? We will have to see what happens with Hella Mega. I would like to hear some of the non-singles live (I think "Junkies on a High," "Sugar Youth," And "Take the Money and Crawl" would be great live. I don't particularly care for "Stab You in the Heart" as a song, but I think it could make for a good performance. Basically the singles are the weakest part of the album, IMO.) I agree with your choice of songs, but realistically I don’t expect to hear anything else other than the singles. They never played anything else at the shows they played last year.
