I wanted to start ''The Green Day Wives Fanboys' Confessions Thread'' like 2 years ago but @Hermione said no.

Well then @Hermione needs to get more accepting of diverse sexualities. 🤣

Wait, you can skip things on vinyl records? Boy is that a game changer! No Excessive and annoying saxophone on Little Pieces of Truth for me!

Yeah, you have to meticulously find the groove for the next song and put the needle in the right place. You get used to it eventually.

I got a new record player tonight and you KNOW what the first record I had to play on it was.

American Idiot (on red and white vinyl).

I started with American Idiot, then was drawn to Extraordinary Girl.  From there I was hooked, skipping only Homecoming for some reason.

I also listened to Foxboro Hot Tubs, and then Dos just to get a feel for the player.   Dos had way better sound quality than the others, I was surprised.

I played a bit of Cheap Trick before calling it a night.   Got some other nerd business to take care of.

I don't want to waste a ton of money buying music I already own, but I think Nimrod and Warning may be worth getting on vinyl.   I dunno.   Like I said, nerd stuff.  it's waiting on me.

My tip is to buy your absolute favorite albums on vinyl even if you already own them on other formats. I save buying vinyl for exclusives, artists I really love and have active collections for, and albums that mean a lot to me.

I just moved the needle over. But I believe there are record players that have a skip button now.   If you have an unlimited budget, there are some insane record players out there.

I got a 110.00 player, but it has decent volume for blasting Green Day and Foxboro hot Tubs at high volume.

This still feels very unfair to the gay and bisexual fans. 🤣

It would have been so much fun if Billie Joe was a conspiracy theorist or an anti-mask. I mean... I'm happy to know that Billie is smarter than that. But his instagram would have been pure joy post everyday.

I have my copy of Kerrang! Green Day special issue and there are some interesting things I don't remember about 21st Century Breakdown.

Please turn with me to page 118.   You guys brought your magazine to class, right?

In 2008, the guys had 70 pieces of music!  It was after the Idiot touring stopped, and after them hitting a bump in the road as well.   They struggled to write, so they nailed drum head to the wall like a spinning pie graph, with different eras and genres like "death metal or 60s garage psychedelic".

One really interesting tidbit was that "some jams were 10 minutes long".    Butch Vig edited those down into shorter songs.   Hmmm.

The magazine criticizes "Christian's Inferno" for goofy lyrics.   Another hmmm.

Alright guys.

Say Goodbye came on today while I had my GD music on shuffle and this song is even more topical than it was four years ago. Either Billie has the power of future sight or his song writing is just so good that it remains timeless. Or it means that our world has continued to be just as fucked up, if not even more so.

Did they ever perform this song live and if so, is there audio or video footage?

I believe they only played a part of it during another song.  Better than nothing.

*example question:

During the 32nd show of the 2nd year of touring for Amercan Idiot, what color was the 486th strand of hair on Tre Cool's head.

This sounds like the intro scene of the umbrella academy.

also, I totally read it in the UA narrators voice

Your classmates are going to hate you like a platypus.

I hadn't thought about giving a test until you mentioned it.  Now I am preparing the most difficult Green Day Quiz in history.

The questions will be so obscure that nobody on here will pass.

I am NOT grading on a curve either.

What a strange coincidence that I can't take the test because I feel sick *cough cough*

Thought so. Why is it always the best songs that they never play live? 😔

Listening to Brutal Love from reading 2013 and good god the goosebumps  ❤️

the scream gets me every damn time.

I love that song so much. It makes me so emotional, but I can't tell what the emotion is. It's like sadness and nostalgia, but it's neither.

11 years ago tonight, from 1am to 3am after playing a 3 hour Green Day arena show across town right before, my favourite show ever took place

And I'll never get over that they have a professionally shot video of the whole show and we'll never see it :P

I can still remember hearing these Foxboro tunes for the first time.  I think it was on Myspace and there were a handful of them.   It was unclear at the time if it was Green Day or someone else.

I see that I joined GDA the day before the album was available for download, wow.    I joined not for Green Day but for the Tubbies, haha!  I was probably trying to find an early download of the album and just so happened to join the most awesome Green Day community ever.
