It's just not specifically about losing a father as WMUWSE is. It seemed like both were being talked about at the same time so that's why I was confused. 😅 I do love JOS, but I would drop it for Whatsername in a heartbeat! Give me Whatsername, Extraordinary Girl, and Letterbomb and I'll be a happy. I would also love to hear Give Me Novacaine again. and not a little acoustic encore version of Whatshername or Extraordinary Girl either. Part of the main setlist and electric. Would fit nicely near the middle or a bit later in the show.
The Grohl
I'm gonna be selfish and say I hope WMUWSE doesn't return. I don't need to have a breakdown at a concert! 1

Plus it's a beautiful song. I understand what you mean, though. It's definitely a heavy hitter for both the band and the fans. I just happen to like that.
Popular Post jengd
The emotional ride produced by songs like WMUWSE is one of the things I love about a GD show, you get fun and goofiness, shouting and screaming and crying and at the end you are exhausted but my goodness you’ve been so alive for those 2 1/2 hours, you don’t forget it. Not many bands can take you through the switch from fun and silliness to raw emotion as quickly as these boys can. 5

It's personally linked to loss for me and I can't do it anymore. The song is already sad but now I feel that weight on a personal level.

pacejunkie punk
Watching this interview with The Struts and at around 29:00 Adam the guitar player talks about how he first got into the idea of playing in a band by seeing Green Day’s video for Minority. Then he says he learned to play When I Come Around and then became obsessed with American Idiot and he talks about that. He was obsessed with Green Day for like three years. Crazy. I can’t believe Green Day are partly responsible for inspiring Adam to start a band which eventually became The Struts! (Ironically, The Struts later got a co-writing credit on Still Breathing because of the melodic similarities to It Could Have Been Me). Would love to see The Struts and Green Day tour together someday.

DookieLukie
In "Sugar Youth," is the line I am the child of coyote and bandito possibly a reference to the "coyotes" who smuggle Mexican kids over the border?

I don't know all the story behind that song so maybe I shouldn't speculate, but it sounds like it could be possible. Lots of little socially subversive things like that hiding in Green Day songs, and I know Billie is no fan of the Trump immigration policies. Popular Post The Grohl
For years ago today I saw Green Day at the Aragon Ballroom! Such an amazing show that I almost missed out on. Luckily, an amazingly sweet Green Day fan saved the day! I wanted to share some of my favorite photos from the show (That's the money shot right there) 4

Slave To The Network
I finally got my Nimrod and Stop Drop and Roll!!! records today! No idea what to do with them now since I don't have a record player, though. 😅 Still really cool to have them. Also the address for 1-2-3-4 Go! Records starts with 420. 😏
solongfromthestars
Someone messaged me to thank me for my Bay Area landmarks tour posts so I went back to reread them myself and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Seeing the places that inspired Green Day's music really is one of the most memorable experiences I've had. It's also insane corona was actually on the loose in January and I was obliviously chilling in one of the biggest corona-holes and even attending a gig. I'm so grateful I had the chance to go. I can't wait to go back when this is all over. 2

That Dude
I got a new record player tonight and you KNOW what the first record I had to play on it was. American Idiot (on red and white vinyl). I started with American Idiot, then was drawn to Extraordinary Girl. From there I was hooked, skipping only Homecoming for some reason. I also listened to Foxboro Hot Tubs, and then Dos just to get a feel for the player. Dos had way better sound quality than the others, I was surprised. I played a bit of Cheap Trick before calling it a night. Got some other nerd business to take care of. I don't want to waste a ton of money buying music I already own, but I think Nimrod and Warning may be worth getting on vinyl. I dunno. Like I said, nerd stuff. it's waiting on me.
Slave To The Network
Wait, you can skip things on vinyl records? Boy is that a game changer! No Excessive and annoying saxophone on Little Pieces of Truth for me! 1
