My new fear is Hella Mega getting postponed so instead of moving on from this weird ass era it will go on longer than planned

I was curious to see what other artists who put albums out in February are doing.  And basically, there are two groups - those who are playing somehow uncancelled shows (surprisingly Halsey is playing arenas in Europe these days) or they have interviews or some content like music videos or RSD stuff coming out (Hayley Williams, Eminem - btw I like how he’s involving fans on IG and sharing their videos, Ozzy Osbourne has an older, possibly less social media crazy audience, and still did a Reddit AMA on top of the shitton of press he has going). I do not understand what Grimes is doing and I’m afraid to look into it any deeper.

Green Day needs to do something right now. Anything to take our focus off of the virus.

Yes. Maybe they can release the songs that have been cut off from Foamf.

They've been bragging about them long enough, they may as well release them.

It somewhat annoys me how the GD boys get asked sometimes if they're going to play certain songs, like old songs or ones they haven't done in a long time, and their response (or rather Billie's) is always something like "It's been too long. I forgot how to play that song." or "I forget the lyrics."

I'm not a musician, but to me it seems like they could just, oh I don't know, maybe practice? 🤷‍♀️ I guess this is also why their setlist is always predictable as hell. I know they are fully capable of playing other songs. They just don't want to.

I don't know how to play any of my songs live so I won't bash Billie for not knowing. Lol.

I think they should definitely do a some kind of by-request show at least once in their career. Maybe to benefit a charity like they did for Hurricane Harvey in 2017 but they could do in a bigger venue again with live stream and it would be great, if they’ll let the fans decide the songs by giving two choices from deep cuts they prefer playing so finally we could have the perfect setlist just for once in our life time lol But of course they have to spend some time to practice for the ones they forgot. I remember Muse did the same thing I told a few years ago and said that they checked out some cover videos from Youtube to remember the songs lol but they always tend to play the new songs and usually don’t prefer playing that many songs from old albums unlike GD cause they always play old hits and it’s also in doubt whether they’ll play a lot of songs from the new album so yeah I just hope we could see more variety in their setlists in the near future

I can't tell you how much the line "As we watch the world burn" from Junkies On A High gets to me right now. Following the Corona chaos worldwide and trying to digest all the craziness happening around me and the fact that my country is like 5 minutes away from a complete lockdown, this song gives me a serious punch in the stomach. Green Day have always had a talent for writing prophetic lyrics, but they have probably never been more spot-on 😥

God Muse is just as bad as Green Day. Though what really pisses me off about Muse is Matt's thinking when it comes to songs. Origin of Symmetry is one of their most popular albums, yet they seem to avoid it in the states. When someone asked about them playing older stuff or even some b-sides Matt's response was something along the lines of oh do people in the states know those songs? Dude, we have streaming. We have access to your entire catalog. Just be confident and please don't play Starlight for the 100th fucking time.

True but I'd argue that they're even worse. 😄 It seemed that the whole show was on a click track from start to finish on the last tour they did leaving them with no possibilities to compromise/do any changes on the setlist. At least Green Day pulls deep cuts from time to time and even the standard setlist is more varied usually.

Yeah, they could see USA shows more differently as a British band and Matt is always being unenthusiastic about their old stuff since they already mentioned they don’t actually like their debut album and have always tried to change their style with the new albums anyway but at least they did that request show in Paris and that box set was a cool idea for the hardcore fans who want to get more idea about their musical background but still I like their setlists in general. Of course, they cannot do it without playing the hits like every band that big. A lot of old bands for example don’t really wanna risk it with the different songs after some time in their career and usually have enough hits to play so prefer to more focus on the quality of their shows by just trying to give the best experience to the general audience etc. but still I kinda get that the setlists are always tricky for the bands and some fans might want them to play all the hits. I was like that for some band came to my country last year. I wouldn’t go if they played the new songs or unknown ones cause I was a casual fan and think for a while if I should go or not even though I love all of their popular songs and live performances so it depends on the situation I guess lol

I didn't even bother seeing them on the last tour, but that sounds about right. The only spontaneous thing I remember from a Muse show is when they would project a roulette wheel and have it decide between two songs. Knowing them it was probably all pre-planned. And what pisses me off is they'll play all the songs that people ask for overseas! I had so many people tell me they wanted to hear Citizen Erased on the Drones tour. But no, because according to Matt we don't know that song. But Europe knows it so they get it.

I'll give that, the debut album is iffy. And yeah it's hard to balance between new stuff and hits, but I wish more bands like Muse would just be confident. Especially since they have to know the audience isn't just made up of newbies. I just wish bands had more of this fuck it attitude with their setlist, especially if it's not a huge production, which for Muse it usually is. But goddamit they can't even present Knights of Cydonia in a different way. They keep going with Chris and the stupid harmonica and it's like....can you at least introduce it a different way? I'm gonna scream if I hear that harmonica one more time. Or just switch some songs out! The first time I saw Gorillaz they didn't even play Feel Good Inc and it was their first show in seven years. I was like damn...that's a bold move. And I loved it! I got to hear other stuff instead of a song I like, but I've heard a thousand times. So, I feel like these bands can do it, but for whatever reason they don't want to. And I'm sorry with that last album Muse should be more inclined to include their older stuff. (Maybe I'm just bitter because they ignore what is their best album in the states).

Yeah I've heard about this phenonemon before. It's ridicilous. 😄 Never would want to see Muse in the US for this reason. Now that you mentioned it, I also remember that the show did feel a lot more organic on the Drones tour. Even when comparing the shows in Helsinki that I saw. Maybe the next tour they do won't be so heavily coordinated as the last one so we in Europe might have some hope... America will definitely still suffer from bland setlist in the future also though im sure. Not that I'm happy about it😄

It's also a very old fashioned way for the band to think. Like you said, these days we do have streaming services so it's not the same as before. Like you have the possibility to listen to all the old stuff even though the first two albums weren't released in the us originally.

I stopped seeing them not just because I didn't enjoy the last album, but because they seemed to put more thought into their production then into their setlist. After a while it just bored me. Oh Matt wants a giant robot out on stage...cool? I just wanna hear Bliss

I actually don’t follow their shows regularly. I just wanted to give an example as a request show which they did cause I really enjoyed and would like to see GD doing something like that in the future other than that I’m not a master about their setlists lol I love a lot of their songs but still not a die hard fan. However, I think their one of the best live bands out there right now so I would definitely go their show if I have ever a chance no matter what they’ll play cause I’m sure they’ll always give a great experience as a live band like Green Day. Even the people are not their fans could be impressed by them, it’s a different ability that not every band have
