There is some algorithm that we can't see that shows what city or what fans are listening to. I know this because you could win tickets to a garage session with Vance Joy in OZ on the basis of who were the top listeners to his music. Wonder who the surprise guest will be?

Also it would open up a small part in the setlist for some surprises.

My guess would be it is primarily the same mix of songs. Yes there could be some surprises but for the most part, they do play their most streamed songs in concert. I'm not saying they can't mix things up, but if they did based on this, it would still be a similar set list.
The Bellie
I've never seen a Metallica show so I don't know how it's built and what are the strong points, but in a Green Day show the setlist purposely built in some way is a strong point. It may be subjective to say that Green Day have gone better as the RevRad tour went on but to me it has definitely something to do with the core setlist staying the same. They just played it with more and more passion and I loved that. Same for The Longshot. Billie puts some sense into the setlist as he puts some sense into the order of the songs in each album. Of course any Green Day songs we haven't heard yet, and even more rare songs would be great too if they feel to do so, but the way they more lately played their many hits is so badass that I'm plainly satisfied with it, and I don't care so much about how many hits they'll keep for the future setlists and if they keep them all. I would only be a bit disappointed if my favorite RevRad hits were gone for good. Never again witnessing songs I loved to see live would be an immensely bigger disappointment than never hearing other songs I love as much but that were quite never played. But I trust Green Day to do the best choices of the songs they'll play so that they always put on the best shows ever. If it's a strategy by Metallica to try to attract more fans by changing their setlist so easily, good for them, but Green Day don't base the strength of their show on this type of strategy, and I like it that way. It doesn't mean they don't pay attention to what the fans like, they have played many, many rare songs through the years and during each tour. Even if they don't add them to their regular setlist. And they have, once again, played several rare songs throughout all the RevRad tour, and many other rare songs in the previous tours while their setlist was also different, with a lot of new songs each time. I really don't complain about how many and various are the songs they've played until now, if anything I don't want them to feel obliged to change their setlist more than they would have if it weren't for wanting to do like Metallica.
Guest
I'm so desperate for the next Green Day era! First time I'll be here on GDC to join the hype and I can't wait. Finally people to discuss and obsess over minor details with! I have such high hopes for the next album. I feel like they gained confidence with RevRad and hopefully there's more experimental music in the making. Maybe, just maybe, they'll switch up the setlist too. Not holding my breath for that one though 😁

I think its misleading because people who dont subscribe to Spotify are just given these songs when they search GD. Im not saying that they aren't the most popular. I only listen to GD by albums in general but when I listen on spotify I have a GD & side projects playlist so I would be know help. @jengd if I lived close & there were public tickets available I would grab one. I don't think these are the songs people are given. They are the songs people know, so they search them. And if they listen to a GD playlist, they might hear something new to them and the plays might increase. But for the most part people want to hear the songs they know.

I think what @SHART means is if you don’t have a premium subscription to Spotify you can only choose an artist but not the songs (free Pandora is the same). The service will then choose the songs for you. They may be chosen randomly, by popularity or based on whichever songs the service wants to promote for some reason. Guest
You can choose songs without Spotify Premium on the computer, but if you use it on your phone you can't. I don't have premium and it's not the most popular songs that starts playing. I'd say it's a mix of everything in their discography so it seems pretty random. That isn't true, I don't have a premium subscription and I search choose songs all the time. I created a playlist and just add each song to the playlist I want it in. So my point is that people are searching and playing what they want to hear. Yes spotify makes suggestions and brings up songs based on what you search, but ultimately people can play and hear what they want.

gaslight13
I kinda feel guilty saying this because they're having fun with this playlist but I just had the thought "I wish GD would change their setlist half as frequently as they update the Oakland coffee playlist"
