It could get mighty dark out there. They better wear their shades. I'll be driving to the show then. We're only getting a partial eclipse there so it will just get dusky for a few minutes at peak time no biggie. I hope they mention it at the show though, it's still cool that it's that day. Hermione
Ordinary World (movie) is also in the category of things that are too cringeworthy for me to handle . Although in a twist it's not Billie's acting that makes me cringe but the terribleness of the writing/plot.

Although in a twist it's not Billie's acting that makes me cringe but the terribleness of the writing/plot. Perhaps I should have said it's unintentionally hilarious There are so many little things that look a lot like "plot simplifications" (that moment when he fishes out a capo out of his pocket because that's what you carry around 24/7) and then there's the whole story - that's as if it was written by a kid. Everybody acts like an idiot and it doesn't seem very realistic, but I found that funny too. It's a silly movie but that fit Billie's acting, so it's ok. I enjoyed it. Actually I was thinking about OW this morning. Yesterday I saw an Elvis movie, and let me tell you, they knew how to make the fangirls happy. The whole movie is just Elvis being sexy, talking in a raspy voice (just got outta the state pen y'know) ofc wearing short sleeves, singing or laying around in bed. It was the corniest thing I have EVER seen, but I totally see how awesome it was. If we were in the 50's, I'll be one of the screaming fangirls at his shows, I have no doubt. Why I'm saying this is that watching that film, I came to the conclusion that Billie needs to make another movie, but this time with a less dorky story/character. I never really care about his acting but it could be pretty awesome to see him on screen again. Now I hope the AI thing happens and he gets to play St. Jimmy. I never cared about it or wanted it to happen but hot damn, imagine something like The Wall but with AI and broadway Billie in it. That would be so rad.

Like it should've ended with him rediscovering his musical side and maybe incorporating it into his life in some minor way so he has that fulfillment, but also can make his family a priority. Instead it's sending the message "so what if you're completely unfulfilled in your life's dreams, at least you have family." And like what does he end up doing for a job after he's kicked out of the family business? I'm so unsatisfied with that movie haha.

And everyone treats him like garbage to the point that it's just depressing. And so many parts of the plot and the things people do make no logical sense and the humour is cringeworthy. The acting including Billie's was all fine but I couldn't stand the film itself. It was surprising because I was expecting to be cringing at Billie in an alright film but it turned out to be the opposite

The script isn't perfect but it felt relateable for the over 40 set, just with how your life could turn out different from what you thought but still okay. I love his acting in it, he's natural and funny and great with one on one dialogue. I very much want to see him try something else.

It was surprising because I was expecting to be cringing at Billie in an alright film but it turned out to be the opposite Right, like I get that he shouldn't have been working at the family business but his brother was only like "we just want what's best for you" after he got caught. And his wife was wondering about him working there too and I'm just like "guys, he's 40, maybe you should've said something in the last 20 years!" The humor is cute at times I think, but yeah some of it is cringeworthy. I do think it was one of his better acting performances. The film genuinely depressed me though and now I can't listen to Ordinary World for the same reason. It brings up my fears of never doing anything significant with my life, haha. Funny how it's probably a completely different perspective for Billie who had fame and success come at such a young age and probably worried more about being successful with his home life/family since he already had the career side of things. He starts teaching guitar. I'd say that counts as incorporating music into his life in a minor way Oh, does he? I completely missed that. I think they might've underplayed it a bit. That's good though. 1 hour ago, pacejunkie punk said: Yeah I was going to say I think the OP missed that bit. I like the movie. I think they were weak on selling the "still okay" part because they played up how much he felt like he missed out something amazing, and then did a weak job of showing how he found the "still okay" aspects. Maybe it's because I don't have a spouse and kids so my perspective might be different but to me just having those things and completely hating your job/not doing the thing you're passionate about in some capacity is not fulfilling at all. But yeah, I did miss the part where he ends up teaching guitar. That makes it better but should've been a more memorable scene I think, haha.

This is why I say the movie is very relatable if you're of the age and have kids. The "still okay" part is the message that at some point in your life, you start living for your kids' futures and come to terms with your own past. It doesn't mean music can't still be a part of his life (he puts up a sign at the guitar shop for kids guitar lessons, he gets his daughter the guitar you know he wanted and he offers to start a band with her) but your focus shifts so that it's no longer all about you. That may not sound uplifting when you're 20, but it can be a very satisfying thing at 40 to come to terms with. That was the message of the movie. ETA: Further I think the movie did a good job of showing how his life was now markedly different from that of his single friends who still only focus on themselves. Sad and confusing for him at first, but in the end he sees the good.

It's tough because Billie has a lot of younger fans still who were probably all excited to see him in this movie and then went "huh??" at the story. Meanwhile I'm guessing the older fans enjoyed it more. My daughter is 19 and a casual fan but when it came to the movie I told her not to bother because she wouldn't appreciate it. (But I've seen it at least six times now!)

I'm not 40 but I've been out of my teens for awhile now and I tend to connect with movies that target older audiences, but this one not so much, haha. The pretentious former film student in me (sorry) couldn't get past parts of it. But at the end of the day I didn't hate it, I just desperately want to tweak it. And everyone gets different things out of movies so it's good that some people are connecting with this one in a positive way. 1 hour ago, Hermione said: Same. I agree that I got a kick out of that. Like I genuinely forgot it was him and that he's hugely successful. It felt so real! I actually liked that aspect of it though because it made him seem more human and "normal". Not that I don't love his wild side, but it's always fun to see the other side. I actually watched this before I saw his scenes in other movies, etc. so I didn't realize how much he improved as an actor until I went back. To me, this and the Nurse Jackie scenes are his strongest filmed performances.

I was not expecting that with the Nurse Jackie scene and he did a damn good job because it felt real enough to scare the shit outta me! But yeah the scene from Haunted was also good! Wait, I'm looking at the years of all these things and I feel like instead of steadily improving he went the opposite direction until OW. Maybe his performance is just really dependent on the quality of the director? This is only based on what I've watched but this is how I see it... 2002 Haunted - Pretty Good 2012 Nurse Jackie - Pretty Good 2012 This is 40 - Not so good 2014 Like Sunday, Like Rain - Not so good (although this movie is great btw) 2016 Ordinary World - Pretty Good 3 hours ago, thundercatmary said: Just noticed that under Billie's name he writes 1972-? reneetaleena
I really like Ordinary World, I especially loved the scene where Perry went to watch his daughters performance after his mess of a night, the expression on his face was just so damn genuine. I've seen it a couple times now, once by myself and once with my sister where I pretended like it was the first time watching it, haha. I wonder what type of roles Billie Joe will end up doing next if he sticks with it.

I hope Billie can more acting role in future maybe A.I movie start production after RevRad tour?
