The story around AI and 21CB is definitely ambitious but musically is not. It has no edge, no personality to it, just incredibly bland pop rock. Billie Joe is a better songwriter and performer now than he was in the 90's. AI and 21CB are musically and lyrically Green Day's best and is nothing like other albums

You'll be horrified rather than inspired. Oh I know But there's usually a decent amount of sense on display too, I'd say.
Billie Hoe
Do people ever tell bands like System of a Down or Rage Against The Machine/Prophets of Rage to shut up about politics and just stick to music instead? Or is that reserved for Green Day.

Just came across this band called Superchunk (new to me) taking down a butthurt Trump supporter and then some: Spoiler (They just gained a new fan)
Beerjeezus
I assume people say that to every band that's vocal about politics.
pouty bitch
I hate the fact that people comment "stick to music" on Billie's personal instagram account. Like, it's his account and he has every right to talk about things other than music. Just because he's a famous musician, doesn't mean he's not allowed to have an opinion.
Hermione
Not just every band but every celebrity. A lot of it stems from jealously I think, many people have a chip on their shoulder that means they resent people being famous/rich/successful and that they're in a position to have people listen to what they say. Of course they'll still give their own opinion on politics to anyone who'll listen and don't see anything hypocritical about that.....but they're bitter that bands/celebrities have a platform to share their opinions that they don't have.

It's one thing if it was just on the GD account (although I still think that's obnoxious) but it's his personal account. It may be a public personal account and he may use it for band related stuff but the account is for Billie Joe the person and all that entails, not just Billie Joe 1/3 of Green Day. Honestly, I just roll my eyes at the "stick to music" posts at this point but the ones that call him dumb as well, that shit pisses me off. Like even if you think that, what a lousy thing to say. I almost fell over laughing at one I saw though that called him dumb yet managed to have both a grammatical and spelling error in his one sentence response. Billie called out the spelling error and that made my day.
Popular Post DeJennsitized
I'm laughing at the GD twitter tweeting about the Trouble Times video where u been mate Also, every so often I get this massive surge of love for Viva La Gloria!. That piano and then when the strings come in, and Billie's vocals. It gets me every time!
St. Jonny
Had that on earlier, know what you mean! The piano is brilliant there. The lyrics as well.
Popular Post herewegoagain
Viva la Gloria is practically perfect, but the melody and harmonies after the guitars kick in especially are like a drug to me This from St. Louis last night is Billie at his finest, I love him so much (#kfadhatersgohome)

At least some of these statues are actually getting taken down now. So we're seeing some pushback.

Hermione
Normally I love it when he does deliberately silly and awkward stuff. I think it's just the fact that he actually believes that voice is hilariously funny (to the point that he can't stop himself laughing when he's doing it and even couldn't help bringing it up and demonstrating it during an interview - prompting a response of silence and fake laughs from the interviewer and Mike and Tre) that bothers me

Not this one, but do you remember that scene in OW where he calls his friends to invite them into the "presidential suiiiiiiiite"?

unextraordinarygirl
I just had a weird random thought: Their sound check on Monday in Cleveland could be very interesting because it's outdoors and will be happening at the peak time of the solar eclipse. It could get mighty dark out there. They better wear their shades.
