Random Green Day Thoughts

I hate that the iHeart performance is still so out there and the unfamiliar watch and judge the band by it. I wish I could slap a huge disclaimer on it.

I personally love Reading 2013 he seemed to be having a great time. IMO he sounded really hoarse and out of breath at Pinkpop but I figured it was because it was the first show back after a short break.

Wow, that Hyde Park footage ^

We'd better get a live video from this era. Their performances have been on point all tour

Ah no, there are plenty of badly mixed pro-shot recordings which ruin the performance. When did he say this (just to narrow down the options)? It could have been Rock Am Ring 2013 (Vocals awfully mixed and Billie wasn't in top form, don't know about the bad drumming know. After listening to the Hyde Park Broadcast I once again know that Tre's drumming is as good as it ever was. Everyone has bad days though...) The other Rock Am Ring recording was poorly mixed, so was the recording at Wiltern... Or it could even be Reading 2013.

I know, it's considered almost legendary by most here. But fact is, Billie was very tired on the day and it showed, Tre's drumming also wasn't at it's peak (understandably), he messed up the drum fill-in in Burnout for example...

Still, this is all nit-picking as none of the above are really bad...

It must have been last year. It's definitely more than a year ago, so I suppose it was a performance from around 2013. Probably Rock am Ring. I love Reading but I acknowledge tha the sound of the Rock am Ring recording was very bad indeed. But as you said, those performances are not BAD, they are just not as good as some other GD-performances. And he's a drummer himself and I think he's of the opinion that Tré's drumming isn't very spectacular and a bit monotonous...

A guy with a nose ring came into work and it was about the most interesting thing that happened all day. But it'll do me.

My brain is forever ruined by Green Day (and GDC  ). Well, I say ruined...

On a similar note I say y'know to my flatmate all the time. She'll never know. :):(

I don't think it's fair that some fans are using Chester Bennington's death to rehash iHeart and write essays about how Billie was going the same way. I don't mean people who are shaken up thinking that it could have been Billie, I mean posts that are more along the lines of speculation about his condition back then. He's only outright stated he was suicidal once, a very long time ago and even if it's likely he has been since, it's not our place to assume and post about it everywhere. He would have spoken about it publicly if he wanted us to discuss that (and he actually made it clear he didn't want any pity over rehab and that he wanted to move on). Not to mention it's taking the focus off the tragic death that actually happened.

Maybe I'm a heartless bitch :P

I agree.

This just isn't about him, that's the main problem I have with it.

Billie hasn't said anything about being suicidal but I believe most people weren't talking about his possible suicide but about death in general. It's understandable that people worry about him though. Even though there's no real point in speculation and what-ifs, I see why it came up.

It's just fear over someone else people care about that "dodged a bullet." However it's expressed, I understand it. When a tragedy happens close by, you think about your loved ones, this is just an extension of that.

Totally agree, I think lots of us feel this really strongly and while we don't want or mean to dwell on it, something like this just brings it all back.  I am going to stop complaining about the Bellahouston show being cancelled now, could be so much worse!

Someone made a similar comment to Billie's IG post basically feeling ashamed for bitching so much about the Glasgow cancellation when things like this make you realise what's really important.

I did say that I didn't mean people who are shaken by thinking that it could have been Billie. That concern is completely natural, because he means a lot to all of us and the what ifs are upsetting. I just don't think it justifies speculating about his mental health in ways that are more invasive than concerned (the posts I saw were a lot more along the lines of how suicidal and mentally ill he is than "shit he could have died").

edit: whoever found my tumblr to send me this, you suck

On another note, Billie's voice sounds so sweet in Barbara Allen. It's beautiful, really makes you think about how nice voice he actually has. And that fiddle . BA is seriously such a great tune and I've only realized that recently.

I agree, I'm not really a fan of most of the songs on Foreverly but their voices sound so good. And I love Down In the Willow Garden, so creepy and haunting, really want to listen to it now.

I'm watching the Hyde Park footage now and I've belatedly noticed the sign language interpreter on the big screens, which is making me laugh so hard right now! Billie definitely threw the interpreter a few curveballs with some profanities ;)

Went on a mini road trip with my mum and my brother today. As we started the drive home the car was SUPER HOT so I rolled the back seat window all the way down and my brother put Forever Now on at full volume (sorry mum) and I had the wind in my face as green fields rolled by and it was uh-mazing.

Also I just realised it's been a month since I saw them

I actually like Foreverly and I absulutely agree. There's such a beautiful contrast between their soothing voices and what they're singing in Down In The Willow Garden. I love it.

I love Foreverly! Who's Gonna Shoe Your Pretty Little Feet is a perfect lullaby  and Kentucky is the perfect lying in a hammock and de-stressing song.
