jengd
Just seen an article in a Uk newspaper which I can't copy, I think the URL is massive, about the Sheffield show and it says GD playerd there in 1994 and a fan remembers Billie had a broken leg, I don't remember that, is it right? There's nothing under the Sheffield show (October 18 1994) about it, but there is a mention back in April of a show in the Netherlands that was cancelled because he tripped over a tech and it says he broke his ankle (April 28?). No other shows mention this. I saw an interview once where they catalogued all their injuries that tour and Billie said he had some torn ligaments I think but that was it. He would have had cast if it was broken and it would have affected more shows I think but it didn't seem to (they played a show May 1). Would be strange if he still had something in October. Maybe he just mentioned it happening during the show. ETA: It appears they were referring to the May 2 show in the Netherlands where this happened
jengd
I knew he had fallen off the stage and hurt one leg quite badly but am not aware of it being this serious. Thanks for investigating.
IcyMoffatt
The video of the crowd singing before the Hyde Park concert has been show on RDI minutes ago. What a good way to start my day!
MillenniumFan
Yeah, it's currently trending #26 on YouTube, now that was a (albeit rare) smart promotional move!
MillenniumFan
It seems to me that South America is the only place where Green Day are still insanely popular right now. While Green Day are struggling to sell out shows in the US, all shows in South America are about to sell out almost 4 months in advance (for most gigs, including the stadiums there's only a few hundred tickets left!). herewegoagain
I like it when satirical twitter (my only news source) seeps into and provides context to the GD world:

In Canada, the concerts were sold out or near sold out last winter (depending of the city). And the concert in Toronto for next August was near sold out when I bought my tickets back in April. They announced the tickets only a few weeks ago and already at pretty much every single gig there's only a few hundred tickets left. I reckon every single gig might be sold out come August... But still, good to know that they're doing well in Canada. They seemed to do well in Europe too, it's only in the U.S where they're struggling in some places... MillenniumFan
Yeah, but: 1. From what I see in most cases (for the places concerned, because there are a few places that are almost sold out, including Darien, which is actually sold out) it says 2-5% of tickets still available. 2. This is Green Day! There's only a month to go in some places and these tickets have been available for months. All I'm saying is, they're doing less well than previously and that the only place where the tickets sell out in Green Day typical speed today (so as quickly as they might have sold out in 2009/2010 or 2004/2005) is South America and parts of Europe (and Canada is seemingly quite good too). But remember we discovered an anomaly with the us data. I know for a fact that the day of the concert, Worcester showed as no tickets available. But when the data came out it said the show was not sold out. I am going to the Hartford show and I actually checked to see what tickets were available. The only ones available are limited view (which are not listed as limited view, but I know they are from being there before) and lawn seats. The theater fits 30,000 but only 7,500 are covered. I don't know if any band has actually sold that venue out, including lawn seats
MillenniumFan
True, there might be a problem with the data, I didn't consider that...

Yes, although that particular post was after seeing like 50 people reblogging something like "Sara and Adie are fucking around and Tré and Billie are fucking around and all of them were fucking around at the same time although Billie and Sara / Adie and Tré wouldn't fuck around without their husbands watching and it's a dom thing" and I swear to god this is the most disturbing shit I've ever heard or seen a fan say
pacejunkie punk
Ugh. Anyway... Any chance we may see a Superbowl halftime show from God's favorite band any time soon? It's about the only milestone they have yet to reach. They'd be awesome as fuck.

Popular Post pouty bitch
Last night, I was thinking about how GD's songs cover so many different subjects, but the one that stuck out to me most was Pulling Teeth. I think domestic violence/abusive relationships is a topic that doesn't come up very often in music. Also, I find that people usually assume that the man is abusing the woman in an abusive relationship (maybe not as much now as they did back then however), so I like that fact that it's written from the point of view of a man who is suffering. I really hope the song raised awareness of men suffering from domestic violence at the time. Also, I read that Billie was inspired to write the song after Mike fell and broke his elbows during a pillow fight with his girlfriend. If that's true, then Billie really is an amazing songwriter. To take a simple accident like that, and build on it, to turn it into a serious topic for a song is such a clever idea. Also, the fact that Billie has never suffered in an abusive relationship (as far as I know of), yet he sings those words with so much emotion and vulnerability - it's just mind-blowing. When I first listened to Dookie, Pulling Teeth wasn't one of my favourites (I was more drawn into songs like Burnout, Longview, Coming Clean etc.), but I feel it stood out more than other songs, like Sassafras Roots or In The End, and I don't really know why. I was listening to it the other day, and it still wasn't one of my favourites. However, I've literally just grown to love it overnight. When people talk about Dookie, they rarely mention Pulling Teeth and I think it's so underrated.
Beerjeezus
I love Pulling Teeth, it's always been my favorite and I agree with everything you said. It's never been recognized enough.
pacejunkie punk
I've always liked it for the melody. It's funny how he can take songs with subjects like that and make them so catchy. Blood,Sex and Booze is another. They're so singable.
