Random Green Day Thoughts

Sometimes I wonder if nobody went along with the "1 2 - 1 2 3 4" for as long as Billie would want everyone to during Hitchin' A Ride, if he'd just sit there and stop playing entirely

I was thinking about this the other day, and wondered if anyone else had noticed this.

the line “one nation under dog.” From Minority. Well, if you spell dog backwards, it spells 'God'. I don't know if that was Billie's intentions to smuggle a nifty Easter egg in there or not. Even if it wasn't intentional it's still pretty cool.

I'm going through a phase where I'm listening to Fashion Victim a lot. It's such a catchy tune that I tap my feet to.

That is the intention, it was a play on the Pledge of Allegiance saying "one nation under God".

Lol this just reminded me of when he wants to get the crowd to do a continuous hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooome at the end of Jesus of Suburbia (so he can then jump and play the "you're leaving, you're leaving" part and end the song). People never really get it and just go hoooooooome and stop and he has to keep trying to get them to carry on so the sound doesn't stop and it's a lot of effort. He kept at it for ages in London this year . Leads me to think you're correct about HAR, his commands must be obeyed!

GD show 4 of 5 this year is over for me, and they kept getting better and better. Can't wait for the London Hyde Park show although it'll be the last one for me and that will make me so sad! The boys are SO on fire right now, it's surreal.

I watched practically the whole Nova Rock show on youtube and totally get what you mean. All of the Rev Rad tour so far has seemed fun but the last string of shows have been so full of funny and beautiful moments. At the beginning of the tour leg I thought maybe it was an Italy thing as they've said they love Italy and the fans are pretty intense, but they're just really fucking enjoying themselves playing and interacting with fans, and it's so so so cute.

It made me realise I'm just so indescribably happy to have 'found' them again when I did last year and to experience this era of GD right now when they're all so happy and perfect :wub:

No, as I said in the Greenfield Thread, they were on fire at that show too, and I think Billie broke the smiling record of this tour at that show too. They were great in January and February, don't get me wrong, but my god they're fantastic at the moment. I hope they'll record some of it, they're at their best of this tour that's for sure...

For me it's only two shows, but with the general atmosphere, feeling, happiness and good view (practically barrier) at the Greenfield gig, I really couldn't be any happier...

Just makes me more mad at the people working for promotion that are not giving Green Day the exposure they need and deserve...

Skids are opening for them and Rancid in Glasgow. Fucking SKIDS. If I had the money I would be up there in a heartbeat, that and Hyde Park are like ultimate dream lineups. If Buzzcocks were on the bill too...

Really?? I didn't realise there were more bands coming, it's turning into quite the event.

I don't know of anything else for Hyde Park, Skids in Glasgow were announced this morning. I would kill for Buzzcocks to appear somewhere on the tour as well but I'm not holding my breath.

Right, I just thought Glasgow was going to be a 'regular' show and not a multi band thing. I'm guessing Hyde Park has filled all the slots. Sorry you're missing out on Skids. :(

I've rarely heard of a line cleverer than “maybe you’re the runner up but the first one to lose the race”... Damn, I love this album so much, but especially Horsehoes and Handgrenades.

That's what F1 legend Ayrton Senna always said about finishing second.

They have to play Homecoming live again one day. They just have to.

I would love it if they just swapped JOS for Homecoming, just for one show.

Or one day, they might play AI in it's entirety like they did with Dookie.

Definitely wouldn't mind seeing Homecoming rather than for example Letterbomb or JOS. And damn they look good in that video.

I had to revisit an old classic - who said they used to rip through songs in the 90s? My favourite moment is the epic high five at 6.33.
