Popular Post unextraordinarygirl
I'm stuck on Kerplunk lately. Words I Might Have Ate is my current favorite. I love the stripped down acoustic sound. It sounds like a happy bouncy song until you hear the lyrics. My other favorites are Who Wrote Holden Coufield?, Best Thing in Town, Strangeland and Android. As well as One of My Lies. Ahhhh! Ok I just basically love the whole album. IMO there isn't a bad song on it. Stuck With Me is another awesome song on Insonniac too.

Popular Post lizziebix
Every time hubby is in the car and Still Breathing comes on his radio he sends me a text. All it ever says is Still Breathing. And then today he had a really hard business meeting. When I asked him, via text, how it went and if he was still alive, he just texted Still Breathing. I might make him a true GD fan afterall!
21guns&novacaine
This is more of a Green Day related story. Spoiler So day before yesterday (the 29th of May) me and my dad embarked on a six hour journey from our little hovel in Wyoming to my cousins' house in Kansas for a funeral. Our initial plan was to get there, and hang out in the hotel for the rest of the day, so I chose to dress comfortably in my normal black attire and Green Day shirt, because I didn't think I'd be seeing any family. Well, we got there way ahead of schedule because there hadn't been much traffic despite it being Memorial Day. So we decide to head over to my cousins' house to meet up with them, no big deal because they're chill. We get there, hang out for a bit, and then they're talking about going and seeing 'grandma'. Well, I didn't realize until we'd drove into town and ended up at the funeral home, that by 'visiting grandma', they meant going to the visitation service, where everyone is dressed nice and talking in hushed voices... And here's this kid that unintentionally looks like they just stumbled out of Hottopic after a clearance sale. And of course, I got lots of judging looks from everyone there. I'm sorry! And that, my friends, is the last time I dress like 'myself' around family.

I either want it as #StillBreathing or just the words Still Breathing, but I haven't decided which one or where I want it yet.

Thatsername
Today I turned on the radio and couldn't believe my ears, they talked about Green Day. Unfortunately I only caught the last few words, they were obviously talking about AI, and then they played WMUWSE. Made my day, because that radio station usually constantly ignores Green Day.

Actually hearing them on the radio never gets old. I woke up to them being subject of a guess the band call-in competion the other day. The clues were a snippet of Walking Contradiction and "lead singer is called Billie Joe, NOT Billy Joel". Didn't bother to enter but it sure woke me up

I've moved your thread into the existing 'Random Green Day Thoughts' topic, as this is the best place to post quick, one-off thoughts that don't quite need their own thread - there'll probably be more discussion about it in here too. The 'Welcome to Paradise' section of the forum and the guidelines have plenty more information to help you get started on GDC. Sorry you couldn't get a ticket to Madrid I'd love to get up on stage with Green Day too, I'm sure it's a dream that lots of us share. Unfortunately, like you said, it's really unlikely to happen, but even if you don't get called up you'll have still seen an awesome rock show, which is well worth going to. Hopefully you're able to see the band live not too long in the future!
Popular Post 21guns&novacaine
I've realized that sleeping while listening to music makes you hear stuff in the music you never noticed before. I fell asleep last night with my ipod on shuffle, and became semi-conscious during Wake Me Up When September, and I became more aware of the song than I ever have, if that makes sense. Like you could really hear the emotion in Billie's voice, small details I skip over when I listen to it normally, and hear all those small background noises so much clearer. I don't know if it's just that your unconscious mind detects it better or what, but now today I'm addicted to that song with my new found love. Anyone else have this happen to them? Or is it just a weird thing I do? lol
pouty bitch
There's a band playing at my local pub tomorrow night and they cover many different bands' songs, including GD. I guess that's my Saturday night planned already.

Such a surreal feeling, really. And Macy's Day Parade and Dark Side of Night are great too.
TracksAtChristieRoad
Just was on break from work and was picking up cat food and litter at the nearby pet store, the cashier recognized me from riding the bus an started talking about my tattoo on my upper back/shoulders. And that Jos was her favourite song. ( The tattoo can be seen in my profile) I've never had anyone recognize where the lyric is from. We also talked about the show back in March. I mentioned I was going to see the for the 5th time in August.
Popular Post St. Jonny
My mom came over and we were smoking a J in my room and she was looking at the Dookie poster on the wall. She asked me what Dookie meant, which was really surprising and then I had to explain that all the brown stuff is in fact shit behind the Dookie logo and being flung all over by dogs and dumped on people. She was able to notice Ozzy but not Angus, who is in fact the guitarist of her favorite band. She had brought the album into our household in 1994 but I guess she didn't pay too much attention to the artwork with it being so tiny so until seeing the enlarged poster on the wall I don't think she knew what the name of the album actually was. And then it was funny 'cause we just got high on hash and she asked about a bunch of the drawings while I had 39/Smooth on.
