Random Green Day Thoughts

YOU GUYS.

I finally saw a band whose stage presence is in the same vein of Green Day's in terms of crowd involvement / participation. It was The Maine and I just got back from their show and a guy got pulled up on stage! The lead singer was totally engaged with the crowd the entire night, start to finish, non-stop.

Green Day is the only band I had ever seen do these things to this degree, but The Maine has easily taken a second place, very comparable spot. Wow. Blown away.

I was considering writing up a post because I got a great video of some of it but I couldn't think of where something like that would go.

Check in Other Artists for a thread. If there isn't one, start it and post your videos there.

Listened to Warning on my way home today and was struck with the random fear that Too Dumb To Die will end up as the Deadbeat Holiday of RevRad, i.e. the absolute gem that never sees the light of day live :(

GOD!! I GOT 99/100!!

I'm so mad I forgot the name of ONE song. I knew the song I just couldn't remember the name! I had 2 minutes to think of the name but I just couldn't remember.

It was Road to Acceptance. That was really hard to remember because it's not actually said in the song. That's made me mad. I still did really well but I'm disappointed I didn't get 100

The one I couldn't remember was 16. I am so rusty on that album lmao. Two I didn't get because I couldn't get the spelling right

Damn, that quiz is the most stressful thing I've done in a long time. It's one thing knowing the songs but to readjust your ears from one to the next so quickly..! Not to mention typing fast enough. I guess 80/100 ain't too shabby, I ran out of time with 12 songs to go.

I read your comment first, thought I was bound to get that one then, and proceeded to fail

On the subject of GD quizzes, Dad has just played Longview in front of me without him knowing what song it was! I had to make a quick exit out of the room before the last verse!

Oh my God, it's so awkward when that happens. :ermm: If Longview comes on when my parents are in the room, I have to stop whatever I'm doing and skip it as quick as possible. Except for one time, my dad was out and my mom was upstairs in bed, so I put it on really quietly and then turned the volume down even more for the last verse.

I don't find it at all awkward listening to Longview with my parents.  In fact, I sing along to most of it when it comes on in the car.  It's one of the songs we turn up, partly because it's so quiet and partly because it's especially awesome.  Maybe it's because my mum's a big Green Day fan and my dad likes them too, though.

Funny story: when I was a teenager my mom bought me a Dookie music book so I could learn to play the music on guitar (which I never had the patience for, but that's another story). When I opened it, I discovered that she had gone through the entire book with a bottle of Wite-Out and whited out all the swear words. When it came to Longview, she had not only used the Wite-Out on the word "masturbation" but also drew a line over it in permanent black marker 😂😂 she was not taking ANY chances about having to explain that one to me 😆

I just wrote about this in the story I wrote about growing up in the 90s and how Green Day played a part in it, and I let my mom read the finished product. I hope she got a chuckle remembering that, although I didn't ask 😂

Neither of my parents are fans of GD and they are both extremley prudish, so Longview is a HUGE problem in my household.

LOL trying to sing F.O.D. must've really sucked because so much was whited out.

It's stuff like this that makes me especially glad my parents have been fans since Dookie :P

That's funny! Yeah it was brought into my house in '94 when it came out, I was allowed to listen to it but not repeat it which now makes no sense to me but, thanks for not caring too much mom and dad.

Restless Heart Syndrome is such a fantastic song! I was listening to 21CB doing work yesterday and I just stopped what I was doing because the song was just so mesmerising. It's a shame it doesn't get more exposure as I think it's definitely one of the best songs the band has ever recorded

It's one of my favourites, so underrated.

It's so underrated. It's one of the songs that stuck out to me the first time I listened to 21CB.

I couldn't agree more. It's always been one of my favorite songs by them...it is such a great son and really haunting. I mean, it's never been easy to listen to for me. It's hard to explain, but it does convey a heavy emotion.
