I will say now that the hardest one for me to pair up was "Say Goodbye" because I didn't feel like they had an older song that was comparable. It was one of the things that struck me the first time I heard it, like "wow this sounds fresh and new for them." I will post my track list after I get the kid in bed -- now I can't remember what I settled on to introduce "Say  Goodbye" and I'm curious 😂

Popular Post letsdanceon
Well, here's my tracklists for the CDs I made for someone who has never heard AI, 21cBD, the Trilogy or RevRad but is very familiar with the older material. It was fun and I recommend it! I just don't always have an answer for why some of these clicked for me, so I hope I don't get grilled 😆 It ended up being a double cd like what Green day did..Trilogy..

Awesome!  I need to do this to make mixed tapes.  My ancient car only has a cassette player and when I drive to/from school it's 1.75 hrs each way.  I just need to find someone with, or buy, a cassette/cd player.

I wanted to introduce her to some of the newer material in a way that wouldn't be completely jarring to her, so I chose which new songs I wanted to include and then picked an old song I thought was a good lead-in to play back-to-back. Usually it was something musically or structurally that made sense for me to put the old song and new song together, although at least one was thematic ("Christie Road" into "Outlaws" for example). I didn't think too much about my choices and I have no musical background whatsoever, so it was a fun little project to work on, completely subjective, and was kind of like putting a puzzle together. I swear I didn't do this on purpose, but when I looked back on my finished playlist I had picked "Pulling Teeth" to be followed up by "Give Me Nocovaine" and I couldn't stop cracking up 😆😆 Ha!  I was at the dentist today and had both Give Me Novocaine and the video for Geek Stink Breath stuck in my head. 51 minutes ago, letsdanceon said:  Disc 2: Misery / Say Goodbye  I always felt that Viva la Gloria (Little Girl) and, to a lesser degree, Peacemaker, were the offspring of Misery.

I am sure I would have had different answers had I chose the old song first, but when I made the CDs I chose the new ones that I liked the most that I would want someone who was unfamiliar to hear. So I kinda had to work in reverse order. But it's cool to hear these other viewpoints, and I totally agree with Viva la Gloria!!

Jesus of Seneca
Okay i want to see if anyone can help with this. In pop choir in school we're trying to pick a song to add to a setlist that we could learn informally. A pop song song or something of the like, and something that we could add instruments to. (Guitar, drum, bass, uke, whatever). Anyway i really want to find a green day song that i could convince them that we could do. I thought of Holiday and 21 Guns since they're both from the broadway show, but the broadway versions have too much solo stuff going on with them and we're trying to stay away from that with this one. Also, 21 guns is arranged more of a traditional choir/ pentatonix kind of way, which we're also trying to stay away from with this one. So far the suggested songs have been: House of the Rising Sun _The Animals Night Changes_One Direction Viva da Vida_Coldplay Sound Of Silence_Disturbed Version Titanium_By i don't know who If anyone could think of a song that would be cool for a small high school choir of 13 to do that'd awesome! I need to have an idea by Thursday morning.

I'm thinking just because the Broadway show does those songs a certain way, doesn't mean you have to. I'm imagining the harmonies you could do for Holiday and it would be amazing. I say go for that. For sure. Just have the whole choir sing it and have the lower voices do the harmonies. It would be freaking fantastic.

I think Holiday'd be awesome, i just can't find a good example of someone doing it. Oh well, maybe we'll be the first.  here's hoping

Popular Post stories and songs
Today is the day I consider my Green Day anniversary. There were months leading up to it where I was getting more and more interested in Green Day, but April 5, 2005 was the official day that they wore me down and I decided they were my favorite band.  I resisted for such a long time—I was all emo at the time and thought their music was too punchy and upbeat for me. I'm glad they finally broke me, lol. Happy Anniversary, Green Day. The past 12 years with you have given me so, so much happiness (most of the time ), and you've only gotten better with age.  I'm so proud that they're my favorite band. Wouldn't have it any other way.
