Popular Post amberwhite
I think I've been following the tour threads too much, I was listening to Revrad and got confused when Good Riddance didn't follow Ordinary World.
RedundantIdiot
It's interesting how hearing a song at a concert makes you want to listen to it more often afterwards. While I've always liked Letterbomb, Scattered, St Jimmy and Are we the Waiting, I've definitely played them more frequently since the gig.

Some are better thought out than others. But what he has been saying lately about love and compassion and that patriotism isn't exclusive is pretty damn awesome. It would be easy for him to just say fuck America, and people would agree with him, lol. But instead he's trying to unite everyone in the room while still pointing out the problems. It's wonderful. So true! I got chills watching the one from Georgia (1.50) the other night. Actually wasn't far from venturing in the fangirls thread to gush over that passionate delivery, haha.
Popular Post Beerjeezus
I like the speeches, they are ok, but he shouldn't disrupt Letterbomb. It's much better played in one go. LB is one of my favorite songs but it wasn't that special live, the break kind of takes away from its energy.

And releasing a triple album kind of negates the need to ever release a double album. So I don't think it's very likely.
stories and songs
Kinda feeling bummed. I had an AMAZING time at the Brooklyn show last night. I took my parents (my turn to pay for their tickets, lol), and they always love seeing Green Day, but they weren't that into the show last night. Granted, me and my mom were fortunate enough to see them during the club tour, which is obviously a lot more special and intimate. I guess I'm just a bit sad because I'm in my post-show happy phase and the fact that they didn't enjoy it as much drags that mood down a bit. That said, I'm the one who is obsessed, not them, so maybe I shouldn't expect so much from them. They're usually just more excited about the shows, that's all.

I wanted my mom to go with me because after the years of having to endure Green Day, I thought she deserved to see what the whole fuss is about and it's very important for me that she loved it so I absolutely understand how you feel.

Libertine Angel
The Kerplunk version of Welcome To Paradise came up on my MP3 player and listening to the break I got a real Dead Kennedys vibe I'd never thought of before.

While my friend and I were on line we started talking to one of the security guys. He told us that as per band management none of the venue security were allowed to speak to any of the band members, no one that worked at the venue was allowed to be inside during sound check, and the black towels (black, by request) the venue provided for the band in their dressing rooms were deemed unacceptable because there was lint on them so someone had to run out and buy new towels. That's all silly stuff and I know many celebrities are known to be far more demanding and quirky. I also understand that the band is there to do a job and they don't have time to chat with the staff, but this guy made them seem so aloof and diva-ish. I was just very surprised to hear those things, especially because I've always heard they are usually friendly and approachable. Divas or not, I still love them and I can't wait for Barclays on the 15th! None of this seems out of the ordinary to me. They are one of the biggest rock bands on the planet, they're traveling for hours and hours, away from their homes, probably barely getting any sleep, busting their asses along with their amazing crew to put on the most epic show that they can, for which that venue is making tons of money on... lint-less towels and some peace and quiet before a show seems like nothing. Maybe thats just me. I'm sure there are little bummer things here and there that we could nitpick, but honestly I think part of the reason why this band has such an intense and loyal fanbase (this website as the ultimate evidence) is because not only do they write such great timeless songs, but they just genuinely are good people, and we all just wanna root for the good guys to win for once. Three best friends from very humble beginnings who grew up in the middle of fucking nowhere became one of the biggest bands in the world. They could be any of us. So yeah, I mean they are human beings, they aren't perfect and if we put their lives under a magnifying glass I'm sure we'd find things that bum us out, although thats true of any human.
jengd
Not sure about the towel thing but I'm not surprised if security are given instructions like that regularly, and probably most of the staff, would have thought the risk is that by the time they had spoken to, signed stuff and taken selfies with all the staff in these venues, they would need an extra day at each location! They are there to do a job and I would also bet a lot of folk would take on a job like that in the hopes of meeting famous people, it could get out of hand really quickly. Can't really imagine them being primarily donnas but who knows.
Niënor
I would think that would be part of the employment criteria for any venue -- don't harass the performers.
WhiteTim
It's just varies from artist to artist some don't have the rule some do sure some probably do it cause they think they're bigger or better than a security person some probably just wants to focus on the task at hand just like some won't do interviews before a show and some do there's a artist who has it that venue workers are not allowed to even look in his direction or speak directly to him actual venue policies can also vary like most places in Houston do allow employees to talk to the hosts as long as there's no restrictions from the artists managament and isn't long i.e. No long convo they're allowed to ask for an autograph or a picture as long as their work is done or they're on a break
RougeRogue
So...particularly being in an entertainment industry, I think what you also have to consider is that there is a close circle of people/management that surrounds the band and is primarily responsible for their outward appearance and communication with anyone not within their close team. So when you hear things like "So and so complained about this issue" - it very rarely is first hand heard information. A complaint is made to a manager, a manager brings it to the next person in line and so on. And for management and personal management of artists (be it actors or musicians or whoever) part of what their job entails is perceiving and diffusing any issues before they occur. So sometimes when a mistake is made that the actual artists wouldn't consider a big deal, the management does have to treat it like a big deal, because it is their job (literally) to keep their client happy and a mistake could threaten that. So management could be saying "It is absolutely unacceptable that these towels are not what was asked for" but that does not mean that came directly from the band. I take every "diva" dressing room stories of any famous person with a grain of salt, tbh. There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that not everyone just knows about.
WhiteTim
I just noticed this part "no one that worked at the venue was allowed to be inside during sound check" yeah I think whoever said that was pulling their leg no venue is going to accept and honor that at all they were just at Toyota Center if the band required that Toyota Center would've cancelled the show in a heartbeat I know MSG and Staples Center is the same they will not leave their venue unattended with zero employees zero security inside the venue's insurance alone would not allow that at all
moonj17
Maybe it was just the security guy kind of exaggerating things. He was definitely not a GD fan and he knew we would eat up every bit of information he had about the band and the show. It was a weird conversation and he made them out to be such dicks, which of course bothered me. You all make very valid points.

I met a guy at Soundwave who was driving them around (wasn't a fan & hardly knew anything about them). He said BJ, Mike & Tre were so lay back & went with the flow - the guy said you would even know they were millionaires.
jengd
I think it's so difficult to evaluate all these comments we hear from different sources. Some security guards, staff etc could be fans, could be haters, could be having a bad day, have felt slighted by something minor, or some member of the team, who knows. I remember, around the Trilogy, I think an early morning to appearance in New York, a supposed "fan" was really bad mouthing them, how rude they had been etc etc but yet there were photos of them meeting fans, signing stuff so who knew what tripped that reaction. We all want to believe the positives we hear and I know we hear and see so much good stuff about GD being down to earth, great guys etc that it must have some truth in it. Having said that, I sometimes get the impression that people often find Tre quite hard work so I guess that could come over in many different ways. They must get exhausted too, look how hard they are touring, it's not an easy life so I could believe there must be days which would try the patience of a saint, and nobody very called them saints lol! Think we have enough evidence these are good guys, I'm going with that.
Beerjeezus
Wasn't the Trilogy era story somehow confirmed fake? I'm not sure at all, just think that I heard it somewhere.
