Has anyone ever noticed that summer of 69 and Jesus of suburbia sound very similar at some parts. "City of the danmed, at the end of another lost high way" sounds very similar "When I look back now, that summer seemed to last forever."

We know...we just try to forget it most of the time

There's a million songs that sound alike. There are only so many chords on the damn guitar, people are bound to write things that are strikingly similar. :)

Would I be an asshole if I made this into a sign for the concert on monday?

 I find that to be pretty funny! If you watch the Broadway Idiot dvd Billie comments on Trump being there on opening night. He was like 'what the hell is Donald Trump doing here?' or something like that.

Before The Lobotomy and Restless Heart Syndrome are two of my favorite Green Day songs. They're both just so musically creative and unique. I don't see many people talking about them but they are just so good.

Before the Lobotomy is one of my favourite songs in the entire world. Masterpiece.

I'm printing it out right now  I feel like I should write a headline for it though so he doesn't think I just printed out some tweet of this douchebag to annoy him. Any ideas?

Eh, I don't know, this is too random for this tweet. I was thinking of writing "IRONY?" but... I need something to show that HE is the American Idiot and how ironic it is that he thought the musical was great. But I can't think of anything :D

Hmm... I don't know, honestly. Not that you're the smarter out of the two of us *sweats nervously*...

I just arrived in Cologne by train and now I'm sitting in a Starbucks, hoping that Mike will show up.

In my drama class the other day, the teacher named one of her imaginary characters 'Billie Joe'. Let's just say I kinda lost my cool (just a tad) and my friends practically disowned me!!

I counted the beats of the starting drum roll in Nice Guys Finish Last. They're 13. What a meaningful number to open a song like that!

Also, my favorite album opener, Somewhere Now close second.

I think that Don't Leave Me would be a really good addition to the setlist! Punchy and fun, with an extremely catchy chorus!

This is kind of random in general but I'll just stick it in here. I read a review of a Green Day show yesterday - the writer was praising them most of the time, however he mentioned something along the lines of "the years of booze and drugs do show on Billie's face". He didn't mean that as an insult, he considered it a proof that the band "keeps the rock'n'roll spirit alive". I'm not bringing this up to start any discourse on Billie (please). I found it very cringeworthy and in fact pretty disrespectful as well - because, you know, he might not be keeping anything alive had he not quit. It illustrates very well how addiction is normalized in the media. I just want to say that it's pretty fucked up that there seems to be more of a stigma attached to being in recovery/going to rehab than to being an addict but fitting into the cool party animal stereotype (bc honestly, how the fuck does that get acknowledged as a positive quality instead of overcoming the issues :shy:). Weird! (That's my new theme word :P )

I read that one as well (one of the few before I decided it'd be wiser to stop :P) and I found that line pretty fucked up too. I had to read it 3 times to make sure he actually meant it as some kind of a twisted compliment. First I felt offended for Billie, I don't think anything shows on his face - I know the author wanted to emphasize how charismatic he is, but how is that a good thing to say?! I also think it's  disrespectful and just plain stupid to take that and praise it as a positive quality. Weird indeed!

Yes, it seemed like the writer was kind of trying to be ~edgy because there was absolutely no reason to bring it up. How is this a compliment is beyond me... the fact that he meant it well made it even worse imo. :P Strangely enough, it's not umcommon - things can't get much weirder than when it comes to Cobain's suicide. It's been turned into a cool story more times than I can count. "He was on heroin and then he killed himself. What a cool, authentic artist!!!". It's twisted.

Yeah, if he really meant it as an insult, I'd just think whatever, the guy must be blind :P But to put it as a compliment like that was just weird and uncalled for. And that's a good example, Kurt's death (and addiction) has been terribly romanticized. It's true that praising addiction as part of the "rock'n'roll spirit" is not uncommon, but when I see someone randomly write something like that in the middle of an otherwise nice review, it makes me realize how strange and out of place it is.

He must be blind either way:P

Yes, precisely. Reading that review, it struck me how messed up this is. It's not only Kurt, the whole 27 Club thing is incredibly disturbing in my opinion and so is romanticizing/normalizing addiction. I mean, as a society, we are inconsistent - it's cool to be fucked up as long as you're a celebrity, but kids, don't try this at home and in real life, being judgemental is mostly a thing. As I said, weird.
