beejeezee
Unless the teacher grades hard and stupidly like in every English class. I'd just go super punk rock on her ass.
Guest
Green Day have been irrelevant for like, 4 or 5 years, not 10. The lived off the AI success until early 2008, and then people were still psyched for 21CB until it fizzled out. And is Arctic Monkeys that huge right now? I know of that but I've never heard anything of theirs on the radio and no one really talking about them (here in the States). 21 Guns got played a bit on rock radio stations, as did KYE, but there weren't many people raving about GD back in '09. Everyone expected another AI and when 21stCB fell flat everyone was just a bit "eh". AM are definitely massive. They're headlining every festival they sign onto worldwide, and they're being handed awards left right and centre. You'd pretty much have to be living under a musical rock not to have picked up on it. They've broken America (and the rest of the world) in a big way. Know Your Enemy was a flash in the pan, but I remember quite a few people back in high school loving 21 Guns. It sold over 2Mil copies in the US, so that's a pretty good hit. I remember hearing 21 Guns all the time on my area's local Top 40 station, so idk. I didn't realize Arctic Monkeys were so big. FYI they are massively popular in the UK, but I don't think they're more than your average rock band here in the US. You guys in Europe have considerably better music tastes, so that doesn't surprise me
Spike
It's quite ironic that AM have got so big since becoming significantly less good than they were back in 2006. I saw them headline Leeds Festival in 2009 and it was the worst show I've ever seen.

bagelfeet
Me and my friend did a drinking game a while ago with the iHeart performance. Everytime Billie says "fuck" you take a drink. We were out not even halfway through. It was fun so I was wondering if there any drinking games you guys do

I've done the one of picking a random interview with Billie on YouTube and take a drink every time he says "y'know." Another good one is to watch BIAB and drink every time Billie says "hey." You'll be dead by the end, though.

localinsomniac
Random thought: the great thing about having no real life Green Day friends is I'm not competing with anyone for the Demolicious vinyl.
DookieLukie
Anyone else think that Billie seems a lot less exciting/energetic live after rehab. I can't figure out what's missing, but he just doesn't seem himself.

Not going to redirect people to teh Unpopular Opinions discussion of this again as I don't want to make myself a nuisance, but yes, he seems quite unhappy to me, and looks bored and listless on stage. As Ceadog said, maybe sobriety just doesn't suit teh man.

Hermione
Having seen them live last year I'd say that's a load of balls. He's never just been super happy all teh time anyway, my's been loads of times in his career that he's been miserable and showed emotions other than happiness on stage. But he looks a lot happier now than at teh average 90s show to me. He's still energetic and commanding teh crowd and being silly and laughing with teh other band members and all teh rest of it, teh shows are just as good now. And my only appears to be a very small handful of people saying otherwise

Hermione
Basically all of Reading 2013, for starters. Jesus Christ, how many things did you guys change for today? Hmm maybe, people were saying he seemed tired my right? I saw him at Brixton a couple of nights before and he was wide awake and on top form though. You might have a point that he could have teh occasional off show but he still can and does perform as well as ever on a regular basis so I doubt sobriety's teh issue, more likely he's just getting older. I can't say enough that he really was as good as ever when I saw them though lol, didn't seem to be any lack of energy or enthusiasm at all.And lots

I can't figure out what's missing, but he just doesn't seem himself. Nope - he seemed really happy at soundwave x 3 that I saw - was there better shows then others - yes - but you get that in every profession. He was sharp and witty with audience members on stage also. I will say he seems a little less angry (if that's the correct terminology) - I love the new and improved billie joe
solongfromthestars
The only difference I've really noticed is that he doesn't ramble as much (so shows are shorter) and yeah he seems more peaceful rather than angry. Otherwise I think he's actually a better performer now and he sounds better too. He has loads of energy in this song:

Guest
There's a possible Bruce Springsteen reference during the Rock N Roll Girlfriend segment of Homecoming. At 2:39 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMB3M43AEpc And at 5:49 Or it could be totally random. Green Day are huge fans of The Boss, so who knows? Guest
I don't get what the reference is. In both cases the singer talks about being able to play a guitar and then throws in a little solo fill that doesn't interrupt the flow of the song. If it were anyone else I'd say it's just a coincidence, but the fact they they referenced three or four other artists in "21st Century Breakdown" including Springsteen makes me inclined to lend it a bit more credence. Still wouldn't bet my life on it or put it as the answer on a quiz show or anything.
