Stefano Bras
American Idiot was the album the world needed in that post 9/11 era, now I hope Revolution Radio becomes that album we need in this chaotic and messy world we live in.
Popular Post Beerjeezus
What BJ said actually made sense (can't we just appreciate this fact? :P) I kind of think it's bs to expect a group of conservative people to accept his opinion. Groups of people who share same views tend to assure itself about being right and aren't likely to collectively question whether their beliefs are flawed or not when someone comes up and begs to differ - they are more likely to write off differing opinions. And proving that the minority/disagreeing person is not only wrong opinion-wise but a complete waste of human flesh is a common mechanism. One person goes: don't listen to him, he's unqualified, someone else goes: you can't play violin, your opinion is invalid!!! Etc etc. That's the way it works. Most people surround themselves with people who agree with them, especially online. That makes emotions grow stronger when it comes to disagreements.
stories and songs
I'm totally on the same page as Billie with those comments–I've made similar comments myself, honestly. No, Trump isn't committing genocide. But he's taking advantage of people who feel their voice isn't heard and is turning fear into hatred. Billie backed up his point and I think it's completely valid.
armatage
I've seen people say BJ should shut up if his history knowledge only goes as far as Hitler. Which is fucking stupid, because he was completely right in that interview, and that comparison is very much on point. Seems like some people need to educate themselves more about the Second Reich and volksgemeinschaft. It's a little upsetting that he had to draw back and make a milder comparison, I wish he stood his ground, but I suppose anything to make the people understand. And they still won't.
stories and songs
I think taken out of context, without the explanation of why he thinks Trump is like Hitler (which he explains when talking about his supporters), it just sounds like a brash statement. And that's exactly what the media outlets were trying to make it out to be, which sucks – some articles even used pics of him looking squinty/off from an event where there were plenty of nice images to choose from, which didn't go unnoticed by me. The media was spinning it into something it wasn't, and I believe him when he says he doesn't want to add to the fear and anger this election has created. I think that's why he get the need to soften what was said a bit. I've really enjoyed what he has had to say about this election, actually. That feeling of optimism from how far Bernie got and how younger people are getting more politically involved is a sentiment I definitely share. Sometimes it hits me that outsiders have a very different perspective of him then fans do. They see certain things and hear certain quotes. They don't know this is a man who also spends his time creating an Instagram for his dog and putting commentary on cat videos.

Maddie86
I came across this video on youtube, it's from a show MTV did in the late 90's where they pick a fan to go meet up with their favorite artist. I actually remember watching this back in the day, I'm pretty sure I taped it back then, I think the episode was Green Day and Usher. Anyways, I wonder if the fan in this episode is on here

A man who loved his country, and saw that many Germans (who were recently bitch-slapped by WWI) were in need of a leader who restored a sense of pride to his countrymen. Much like what Trump and his followers post-9/11 are currently experiencing. It was very easy for Germans to get caught up in all the propaganda, they didn't even realize what was happening before it was too late. My family that lived there at the time were terrified once they realized that anything they said could be misinterpreted and have them killed. They had to watch neighbors who were not "real Germans" be dragged away and they couldn't say anything against it for fear of being labeled as sympathizers. Anyway, I think Billie kind of sees this happening in the States as well, where anyone with dark skin and dark eyes are labeled as terrorists, and standing up for them makes you un-American and on "their side". By building a wall, by excessively killing people of color, by condemning a group of people based on their religion.....all in the name of restoring a country to its former glory.....that is very Hitler-esque. Anyone with an education will be able to see these comparisons without letting personal bias interfere. Trump, as well as Hitler, did not originally have such crazy intentions. They were just in love with who they were, and where they came from, and wanted to share this pride with their fellow citizens. There are going to be radicals of any ideology, be it far-right or far-left. The Nazis were just a reflection of what could happen when a particular party begins to snowball. Man if you have Tumblr you should post this on there. Everyone's talking about that Kerrang! Stuff on there.

I read similar article on the Internet yesterday, I think I came across the one on The Hill, and the comments were pretty awful, too. Like, why these people feel the need to say about someone he's not qualified or educated enough to have opinion? What's the point of that. Ah. It's disgusting in a way. Like every single person should just go and study history no matter what. Luckily, I can still ignore those comments, but I just don't understand it. This new post on UG blows yet another bit from the Kerrang interview out of proportion and says that Billie Joe was spaced out on coke during trilogy. Um, he explicitly said it was booze in pills, where the fuck are you getting cocaine from?

Second favourite son
It really annoys me in troublemaker when Billie sings 'you're giving me a heart attack, you're giving me a cardiac arrest...'. Like, is he having both? Or does he not know the difference? One of my pet peeves is people getting the two things mixed up, but everyone does it. Still like the song though.
