Do you guys think it's worth entering the IN before the tour kicks off so I can get presale tickets? I doubt it because the shows are huge, no way fanclub sells the good spots out but I'd like to know if IN membership makes any difference.

Just wait and see if they do a presale (or if you're lucky an early entry contest) for a show you're going to and decide then. You'll find out if an IN presale is happening either here or on greenday.com before it happens, and it only takes a few minutes to sign up and then you're a member right away, so there's no benefit to doing it in advance, might as well wait until if/when it's actually happening.

That was my very first GD show.  It's the reason I went in search of like minded fans.

Whoa. That seemed like an first awesome show! I was wondering if they gave the kid a guitar. I thought he did well up there.

It was amazing.  Hubby and were casual fans and I got lucky to get tickets a couple of days before the show.  We had no idea what we were in for!  Although I can't remember if the kid was given a guitar.  It wasn't something I knew to look for at the time.  But I do remember him saying he needed to sit to play!!

Thank you, I think I'll go with this. :)

That's what I've always done so far :D. I do usually go ahead and pay for it for the presales, I don't know if it's really been necessary for getting tickets, but I've always successfully got them in them and it is reassuring to already have them before the general sale.

Spread the love!

Here's a role reversal: I raised my kids on AI and 21stCB ( they were born in '96 and '99).  AI, and then 21stCB when it came out, were on a constant rotation in the car. :)

When they were listening to Wake Me Up WSE, Dad asked Mum to name the band and the lead singer she said 'Green Day and Billie Joe Somebody'. They also listened to the Killers' songs that I put on the album. Hopefully, they will listen to the other GD songs.

Geek Stink Breath is a quite upsetting song.

In what way? It's honest and straightforward because that's what happens when someone is on Meth.

I think I see what Jane means.  I don't interpret the song to be telling what happens to a person on meth, but that it is a person choosing to do meth because he wants to self destruct.  He is doing it on purpose.  Did I read your mind @Jane Lannister

Yes, it's honest and straightforward and that's the upsetting thing about it. It's about meth and it's put so matter-of-factly  that you don't even realize how fucked up a concept it is. It dawned on me today when I saw a gif with lyrics on tumblr and it made me think about it a bit more.

Yeah, you're close. The disconcerting thing about it is that he's probably enjoying himself in a even though he knows what he does is wrong. That's twisted.

I get what your saying, because it does say in the lyrics that he made a decision to do it.

I think sometimes people either try it out of curiosity or they come to it from another drug, like a gateway drug.

Meth and Heroin are a real problem in the city I'm from and it's sad to see what it does not only to the people themselves, but to their families. 4 blocks down from my house the cops busted a meth house and 3 adults and 2 children were removed. They had a meth lab in the basement. I feel very sad for those kids. Sorry to get so serious, but this is an issue very close to home.

I like Geek Stink Breath but I'm bummed that it's one of the only songs from Insomniac that they keep in the set list, I'd love to see them play Armatage Shanks and Stuck With Me more often, and Babs Uvula Who

I wonder when we'll get another greatest hits and b-sides collection. there's definitely enough material out there right now to put them out. I really don't care about a 2004 to 2012(16) greatest hits collection, but I'd like a Shenanegans part 2, maybe they could even slip in some Cigarettes and Valentines songs. I don't remember hearing about too many trilogy outtakes, except for a song that Mike mentioned in an interview where he plays drums and tre plays bass. oh and I think Chris Dugan mentioned in an interview that there's some unreleased vulgar x-mas songs.

Please no. It feels like the worst idea they could come up with at this point. There is enough material but only new material can help them bounce back.

They could just do it on the side for the fans, it doesn't have to be a big release. They could maybe release it on Record Store Day like Demolicious?

Deal. And they could release C&V demos as well while they're at it.

Releasing a greatest hits tends to be something bands do in between albums to keep the fans interested.  If they did that now I would crawl into a fetal position and cry.

I was talking more of a b-sides album like Shenanigans. And besides, aren't greatest hits albums more for the general public who aren't that familiar with the band since the fans probably already have all of the greatest hits? And just on a side note the greatest hits album is dying since everyone can just stream all of a band's songs. There's really no point to greatest hits albums these days.

The B sides would apply as well, they generally tend to be fillers while fans wait for a new album.  Usually, greatest hits or B sides might have a new track or 2 as well as some sort of incentive for the invested fans.  It might have a poster, some kind of booklet, something to make it a little bit different and somewhat collectible for the invested fan.  So no, not always for the general public.

But I do agree, there is no need for a greatest hits album since you can stream or just purchase the songs you want.  If you really wanted to stretch it, there isn't any reason for an album in general.   Because of the streaming and ability to purchase one song at a time, music might make a cycle and go back to the days when bands did release one song at a time.  I don't think it will fully go back to the days since often bands will build a theme around an album, but it might start to be a trend.  Just a theory

When asked in recent interviews how soon fans can expect a new album, the Offspring have mentioned that they're "focused on singles" for the moment, but wouldn't rule out the possibility of an LP in the near future. So there is some weight to the theory regarding bands releasing one song at a time.
