I decided to "upgrade" one of my Green Day shirts. I got it on tour in 2013 and was conflicted about what size to get it in because I was between sizes at that point, so I got a large. Since I really like the shirt and I saw it on Green Day's website, I decided to order it in an XL. Didn't realize how worn mine old one was!

He's doing a book tour with his new book and was in the Midwest. There wasn't a schedule posted so I messaged him on Facebook asking if he was coming to Indianapolis and he said he was tonight! It was a small book store, maybe 15 people there. Asked some early Green Day questions and really enjoyed his stories! Really nice guy! I had a great time. Got 1000 Hours signed by him.

I'd liked this more than once if I could.  Nice story.  (Better than Tim's version tbh!!)

I've met larry a couple times, he's a nice guy. I have a picture somewhere of me by him where i'm super drunk. this was back in 2008 at the final Ergs show in Asbury Park NJ, i'll see if i can post it tomorrow. i talked to him briefly back in December in Baltimore at the final Dead Mechanical show, but that was a pretty bad night for him so our convo was brief. He did a book signing that night that i missed out on but i did get my copy that night

Yesterday my dad asked me what I'd like for my birthday and I immediately thought of asking him to buy me a ticket to see Green Day the next time a chance pops up, but I can't do that because my birthday is two weeks from now and nothing is confirmed yet so it's not even sure there will be a tour in the near future. Besides it would be an awesome opportunuty to just persuade my parents to let me travel abroad to see the band - they wouldn't let me do that before even if I would be going with a friend and his family. I'm going to be an adult now and I've spared enough money to pay for all this so there really is no reason why they should have a problem with it. They could go with me if they wanted to.

But I don't think it would be fair to ask any of this when I can't make any concrete plans and we can't make an agreement. My parents think that travelling because of a concert is bullshit and they underestimate my obsession with this band so in all likelyhood, they will always be against my travel no matter any promise they make. Long story short, I'm praying for an announcement in the next two weeks because seeing Green Day would be the best birthday gift ever, even if I was the one paying for it. Yes, I'm this pathetic.

My parents once gave me a voucher for a flight to a destination I can choose to see Green Day. It was one of my all time favourite presents and your parents could do something like that even without knowing any upcoming dates. If they don't like the idea of traveling to see a band it might be difficult but at the same time a flight could be used for something else, too, so maybe that's an option for them as the main point is to make you happy with a gift and it seems like your biggest wish is something like that so. :P

My birthday is on March 29th (the day the TriBeCa tickets come out) if I can get tickets, my parrents agreed to pay for my plane ticket as long as I cover everything else. Just an idea for you.

This might be a solution :) I could take a nice trip even if there was no Green Day. There's a lot of possible places to go not very far from me so a train or bus would do. I think that's what I'll tell them if they ask again and just casually mention the concert.

Fingers crossed this works out for you! I'll suggest it to them and we'll see :)

So, I've just finished watching Broadway Idiot. It's a good documentary as well as a good promo for the musical. I didn't like the recorded versions of songs from the musical, so I didn't expect much either from the musical or the movie, but this made me change my mind. The stage production has a lot of energy in it when you can see what is going on onstage. I liked how the documentary showed the process of making the play, especially Tom Kitt's insights into the arrangements. I did like what he did from what I could hear. It's difficult to adapt such simple songs for a string section and more singers withought making it sound cheesy. He seems to have avoided that, or at least he had a sensitive approach to it. It was great to see his and Michael Meyer's attitude to working with this material. They both revealed new layers in it.

The movie is in general very good, the amount of live footage and talking heads is pretty well balanced. What I think there was a bit too much of was the live footage from BIAB, however it's no major issue. I was nicely surprised to see the footage from the 1996 show in Prague. I didn't know there was any and to tell the truth I'm very happy they chose a recording from my city. Just for the sake of Green Day sort of acknowledging its existence.

To be continued in the fangirls thread.

Lady Cobra has a very cool vocal melody. It's so fun to sing and easy enough for me.

I'd love to hear blues covers of Hitchin' A Ride and On The Wagon.

It does but it's also extremely similar to Fell In Love With a Girl by White Stripes
