Anyone think that the band and/or Billie Joe will have an involvement at the Grammy's tonight? I just loved their appearance and 21CB announcement at the 2009 show.

I looked to see if they were listed among the presenters or performers and they are not.  Of course we would have known about it already.  However, Lady Gaga is headlining a David Bowie tribute so I was thinking maybe they might be in that.  However, I won't hold my breath.

I was reading an article today about how there are still tons of tickets available for this years Rock Hall Induction Ceremonies.  Why a very small part of me feels bad for this years inductees, a very large part of me is smiling.  :)

Been listening to J.A.R. more than once for the last few days and damn... truly brilliant.

Yes, their early material is really amazing, considering how young they were.  It's like early Beatles; deceptively simple sounding.  The songs are beautifully constructed, the lyrics are creative and meaningful, the energy is infectious.  I love J.A.R.   My favorite oldie is "Who Wrote Holden Caulfield?" but there are so many others.  I just love all of Green Day's music; I love how they have  changed styles, meanings, and  textures through the years; and how we can hear Billie's voice "ripen" to a full rich sound in his 40's.

I've always been amazed how he went from a young man who could keep a tune to a damn good vocalist.  Most singers lose some of their vocal ability as they age, he has gotten better.  I think that is a testament to his work ethic.

Have you heard Foreverly?

Yes I  agree! He takes his singing seriously, or he would have lost it.  And yes I have Foreverly, I think it's a beautiful album, my husband loves it too, he's into old timey roots music like that.   Billie Joe's voice sounds better the older he gets. My youngest is a serious singer, he is taking voice lessons and wants to major in music to  be an opera singer, and he and his teacher say that a man's voice is actually not fully "ripe" until around age 40; and with continual proper technique through warmups and singing often, the man's voice gets better and better through the 40's.  I'm sure Billie Joe has had some voice lessons/coaching because he sings with a healthy sound and great breath control.  Otherwise he would have lost it.

I could believe that somewhere along the line Billie started to actually enjoy singing and believe he could really do it and was good at it.  I think his voice has become much more of a feature then just necessary to get the lyrics over.  I read somewhere that when putting their first band together, Mike and Billie had a conversation that someone had to be the singer and Mike basically said well I'm not doing it, so you have to.  I love in Broadway Idiot how he says he can't act, can't dance and compared to the cast, he can't sing, and then blew them off the stage!

I listened to Dookie on the Wednesday night and I was surprised how entertaining (and short) it is.

It's the best teen frustration album ever.

Put on the radio station I used to listen to just to see what was there (and because nothing else was any good), was greeted by the words "sometimes I give myself the creeps". Everything they played after that was the same shit they played 10 years ago, but it takes a fair bit of shit to make that quality average work out.

In Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame they exhibited the dress Billie wore in Woodstock 1994. Well that was cool, but I think they should have exhibited something more great like the 'Blue' Stratocaster or even Mike's Grabber bass.

Considering the Rock Hall exhibits are permanent, I think Billie might miss Blue.

does mike even have that bass anymore? i heard that Tre broke it. also, i heard that a bass mike played at woodstock was actually on display at the hall of fame, it may have been a Kramer but i'm not 100% on that. I haven't been there since 2004 and I don't really remember much

It is indeed a Kramer. Kramer 250B. And you are correct, it is still on display in HOF.

Yup, Mike still has a G-3, given that GD rsrely ever throw their equipment out even if it's piece of shit, although I'm not quite sure if it's the same one he bought in 1990 in MN.
