Beerjeezus
They should've made that horror movie they talked about in the 90s. Do you guys have any idea how awful and amusing that would've been?
Grinch
I suddenly have a new affection for Wake Me Up When September Ends. I don't know why the song has become emotional to me now but I think because it has lots of memories of my life tied to it.
deadair
Billie certainly gives a shit about looking more clean-cut and polished on bigger venue shows and not so much on smaller ones (Example: 99 Revolutions tour in 2013 vs. any show in 2011) I don't really get the meaning of "On The Wagon". At first I thought it was obvious it was about Billie Joe alcohol addiction mixed with issues in his relationship but then I realised how old the song is because it's from the Basket Case single and must probably comes from the Dookie sessions, soooo my theory doesn't make much sense anymore. Does anyone have any idea ?I thought it was partly about masturbation too? I'm not 100% sure though.

Hermione
I thought it was partly about masturbation too? I'm not 100% sure though.I agree,Sometimes it gets real hardAnd I need some kind of outputFor input twice the size of my one inch mindSo slap me on the handPut it right back down my pants...has a masturbation vibe to it. I think the song is about giving into/fighting temptation and excess, specifically in the form of drinking and sex and/or masturbation. Hermione
OH DEAR I never understood what these lines meant. This can't be unseen Just my interpretation . I think it's probably more of a double meaning than just a dirty meaning , but knowing the band's sense of humour I can't believe that they'd write a line like "sometimes it gets real hard" completely innocently.
Chin for a Day
OH DEAR I never understood what these lines meant. This can't be unseen Your self-appointed board mommy is telling you to close your eyes and forget you read it. Just a totally random thought. I've grown a great appreciation for Too Much Too Soon. It is fun and fast paced with good lyrics. I find myself singing out loud when it comes on shuffle.

It's not a song I listen to often, but when I do, I'm always pleasantly surprised. It's so bouncy - easily the best AI b-side. Johnny.
ok I've been thinking this a lot lately; I can't be the only one to see a lot of similarities between the trilogy and Warning (not quite as good as their usual stuff, kinda weird/trivial topics for songs, overproduced) ...does that mean their next album will be as good as American Idiot?

Johnny.
No.Also, what?In my opinion I didn't think the three albums were nearly as good as their previous work personally. EDIT: with the overproduction; the Demolicious record I felt was way better than the actual Uno Dos Tre songs, I think punk/rock doesn't suit a clean sound, it needs to be distorted and dirty like the demos were. Chin for a Day
Warning (not quite as good as their usual stuff, kinda weird/trivial topics for songs, overproduced) Really? Warning has some very serious subjects on it, a failing marriage, materialism, being an individual, not following the crowed, etc. It was a first step at tackling more serious subjects. I have always thought of it as a pre-cursor to AI. IT is a brilliant, more mature album than anything they had done in the past, up to that point. And, it is hardly over produced.

Also, your points of comparison are way off.Warning has a bunch of Green Day classics. Minority, Waiting, Church On Sunday, Blood Sex & Booze. Sure, Fashion Victim and Hold On are a bit crap, but they're no worse than the low points of Nimrod or 21stCB.The only weird song on Warning is Misery. Everything else is standard Green Day with minor alterations to their tried and tested format. Whereas on the Trilogy, out of 37 songs, you have one weird song: Nightlife. That's it.Trivial subject matter. Can't argue with that with regards to the Trilogy. But Warning? Nope. Not unless you consider Blood Sex & Booze indicative of the entire album. Deadbeat Holiday is one of the most mature and reflective songs BJ ever wrote. Same goes for Macy's Day Parade. Church On Sunday is probably one of the most realistic love songs GD have written (and there have been many). Minority and Warning were the first real steps by GD into socio-political commentary, and are the missing link between Nimrod and AI.Overproduced. Nah. That's just incorrect, on both albums really. Warning is probably their least produced album, and the Trilogy just has a shitload of vocal filters.
