Random Green Day Thoughts

In my opinion, it's very reliable in the light of some clues such as this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4e0W26HZ4U (about 4.00) where a guy from SJC talks about a new drum kit ready to send to Tre Cool.

Also, Tre has published this photo on his intagram profil 5 weeks ago : https://instagram.com/p/7ZYVdmRy6F/?taken-by=trecool

Finally, a french guy has got the privilege to meet Billie Joe in August, at Broken Guitars, He asked about the next album and BJ told they have "some" pieces and should not delay to return to repeat, to put it in shape.

Something happening...Secretly but surely.

Not that I am buying any conspiracy theories right now - the fact that the band is working on the music doesn't neccessarily mean that an album is in progress, however, I do think it's possible that any new release will hit the market suddenly, the way Beyoncé did it or like BJ did with Foreverly.

I know we all go a little mad when there's no new Green Day news.  But I just made a list proving that they are the busiest band on the planet, even when they are not.  Haha.  I don't mention every thing they did each year, only a few things each year that show they never really went away.  We have yet to go one year without at least some kind of Green Day news since they formed in 1986.  And live concerts, wow.  They just don't stop. If you include the side-projects, Green Day have played live shows every single year since 1986!   Here's the list:

1986 – formed
1987 – a few shows
1988 –  a few shows
1989 – at least 19 shows
1990, smooth
1991, rereleased
1992, Kerplunk and toured until 1993
1994, Dookie
1995, Insomniac
1996  “Brainstew/Jaded” and “Walking Contradiction” on radio.
1997 Nimrod
1998, “Redundant”, Touring
1999, Touring, “Nice Guys Finish Last”
2000, Warning
2001, Tour for Warning and Greatest Hits
2002 Shenanigans
2003, MoneyMoney2020, Private Hell and SuperMarket
2004, American Idiot
2005 , Bullet in A Bible
2006. The Saints are Coming and played one show
2007, Working Class Hero, Simpsons
2008 – Foxboro Hot Tubs
2009, 21st Century Breakdown
2010, American Idiot Musical Soundtrack
2011, Awesome as F***
2012, Trilogy
2013 – Cuarto, “X-Kid”
2014 – Demolicious
2015 – Heart like a Hand Grenade

I hardly consider a single being released to radio as something going on in the Green Day world.

Yeah, some of those things are compilation albums (Shenanigans, Demolicious) or required little to no effort on the band's part (HLAHG). And one show and three cover songs from 2006-7 isn't particularly active, either.

I mean, I'm not saying it's unrealistic for them to take a break right now to recoup after rehab and their personal matters, and to let the Hall of Fame happiness soak in, but to say the band is always active isn't exactly truthful.

I don't really get the meaning of "On The Wagon". At first I thought it was obvious it was about Billie Joe alcohol addiction mixed with issues in his relationship but then I realised how old the song is because it's from the Basket Case single and must probably comes from the Dookie sessions, soooo my theory doesn't make much sense anymore. Does anyone have any idea ?

This explanation still makes sense.

Exactly, he's always openly said he's used and had problems with alcohol/drugs to varying degrees throughout his career (as well as touching on it in many songs), it's not a new thing. I think the theory is correct!

That song is definitely about drinking.

Just been reminded my first ever Green Day show was 6 years ago today! Totally amazing not least because I met like 30 GDC friends for the first time as well, many from across the world. Meeting everyone and sneaking out of the line to the nearby pub through the day, Anja bringing personalised cookies, then seeing the band performing in front of my eyes (!!!), being silly waving at Jason White with my sister, J'net being so lovely that when Mike handed a security guard a pick to give to her she gave it to me, singing along to American Idiot with the also lovely Tony from Bullet In A Bible himself, and back to Sharon's house with all the rocktober people. Such a great first show. Has to be said that Billie told the worst Before The Lobotomy story of the tour though, wrong date and wrong drinking age :P

To be fair - does Bj ever tell a good story - oh I can't wait until they tour again & we can discuss bj's new rants - still think I've got the best one - "I'm bleeding from my anus"?

I thought the one about him and his brother in the bathtub was pretty good. :P

Yeah he told some great ones before Before The Lobotomy, either funny ones from his past or something that happened in the city the gig was in. That one was charmingly bad though at least :D

One of the most profound quotes of all time

Just came across "The Forgotten" while my music was on shuffle. Totally forgot about this song. I actually find it refreshingly good.

Don't make me cry! I haven't watched 2009 videos in so long. This performance and entire tour was spectacular, there will never be anything ever like it again.

Also I always thought On the Wagon had a dual-meaning. Like it was about addiction but also having a relentless sex drive and saying anything to get it.
