Random Green Day Thoughts

When I was about 10 years old and heard Dookie for the first time, I remember thinking Mike's backing vocals were sung by a woman.

I was 10, shut up.

You just aged yourself. Maybe Mike was a late bloomer.

Random Green Day related story:

Yesterday my brother was playing video games in my room. (Need for Speed Most Wanted on PS3, to be specific.) and I heard a familiar song and I attacked him and told him to stop driving so I could hear the song playing on his car's radio, and guess what!?... Stop When The Red Lights Flash is on the game soundtrack haha.

Hey, at least the song title has something to do with driving. ;)

I can't wait for Green Day to publish a new album. I know I said they should take their time, but I changed my mind. I want it now. I want to feel the joy from listening to their first song again, I want it stuck in my head for the entire week and pester all my friends and family with it, sing it all the time. I want them to tour again and I want to feel as happy again as I did when I saw them last time. I want to buy a new record and hold it with my own to hands and listening through it and cry and ... I'm being very sentimental right now. I'm deprived of good new music. Hurry up, please.

Same for me. I'm looking forward to listen to anything new they're gonna put out since it's gonna be their first album whereof I will enjoy the growth! How does it feel to be a Trilogy-era fan? To me it still feels a little weird after all they'd done before but then again it's like I've been with them forever.

It feels weird seeing as the newest album that came out since i was a fan is hated :P I started with Dookie and worked my way up so the first green day song I ever really heard was Burnout so that song'll always have a special place in my heart  so the trilogy wasnt the first things i heard but still :P

The Trilogy wasn't the first Green Day album I listened to either, since my brother used to listen to them, but I became a die hard fan only during the Trilogy era, well not really because of the Trilogy but still :D I don't mind if it's hated, I really like it and it'll always have a nostalgic taste to me.

Yeah I know, but for some reason negative things/opinions always overwhelm positive ones in people's minds.

I feel you. The hype, waiting for the ten second long videos, drawing out clues, talking all day long about the new album conspiracies, the songs, the sound, I miss that around here so much!

I dont think they wanna do just a 12 song punk record probably because they want the fans to feel like the wait was worth it, ya know? Like their mindset might be "The fans waited 4 years, I dont wanna just give them 12 3-4 minute songs, we need to give them 18! or a full trilogy of albums!" idunno this is just guessing though

Sadly if the past is anything to go by that's probably their exact thought process. Breakdown came after a 5 year wait and it was enormous. Personally at this point they could wait 10 years and then release a 15 minute EP of straight up punk songs and I'd be happy as long as it was good.

They should just do a single of them covering The Pirate Song, I'd lap that shit up.

If they did it in the style of Misery with Tre on lead vocals I'd never have to listen to anything else ever again.

She is just the sweetest woman. She called a girl in our area who has cancer and talked to her for about 10 minutes. The girl is so excited. What a very sweet thing to do.

Yes, I know she connects with a lot of fans but this just felt extra special to me.

Makes me like her that much more.

Oops. Posted in the wrong thread. Just ignore it (or read it again in the Taylor Swift thread!).

A senior moment

"Moment" :P

Since we're on the subject, I'd love to see Green Day cover Style. Maybe they'll lower themselves to Punk Goes Pop someday.
