I feel it's more appreciated here, but don't see much about it in other fan forums. Misery has been one of my favorite Green Day songs since the first time I heard it. It so clearly influenced one of my other favorite GD songs, Viva La Gloria (Little Girl). Both so underrated!
Cris.
Good grief. Today the mail person came to deliver the boxset and instead of trying to reach me through the intercom, they just left a notice they had come and for me to go the post office to pick up the parcel on MONDAY (because tomorrow is a holiday, and why even bother on Saturday). They could have left this on Monday this week and I could have picked it up by Tuesday.😭 And it would have been so perfect to get it today precisely because it's a long weekend, I could have consumed the whole thing over these 3 days. Oh well, I'll go continue listening to Black Eyeliner.
Undómiel
Put Wake Me Up When September Ends on my speakers, turned the volume up hella loud and laid on the floor, just listening. Almost feels like prayer. 3
Robbie1039
The Homecoming demo made me want to listen to Green Day’s cover of A Quick One While He’s Away, so I ended up watching a couple of videos of them playing it live and watched The Who play it live on rock and roll circus. After the “Dang, dang, dang…” part, I realize they sing “cello, cello, cello…” and I read that it’s because they wanted to have a cello in this part of the song but the studio couldn’t afford it. That makes me like it so much more! It probably adds more to the song than a cello would’ve. I can also see how Keith moon was a big influence on Tre. I’ve never really watched the who play live before.

Popular Post The Grohl
I've been replaying Rock Band lately, so of course, I pulled out Green Day Rockband. I was playing a stage based on Milton Keynes and my bf walks in and observes. He says: "Why are they so buff?! Billie's not that buff!" 1
Gwen Stacy
Ugh, I'd do disgusting, terrible things to have a Rock Band guitar again. Would give me an excuse to dust off the PS3. Still can't believe both my favorite bands got their own Rock Band games. Shame we never got the Lookout era material for DLC like they were planning at one point.

It does suck that the masters degraded cuz i could see in a universe not far from here Dry Ice or Paper Lanterns being seen as among some of the hardest rock band/guitar hero songs Even then I'm surprised insomniac nor nimrod had the rest of their songs released as dlc (Panic Song and Platypus especially were missed opportunities)
Cris.
Someone in my partner's work quit, which means he now has to fill in for them on a work trip to South Africa. To Cape Town. The same week Green Day is playing there. Good god, please give me the self control I need to be financially responsible and not tag along for this trip. Honestly since we found out about a year ago that he might be go on this trip to South Africa I wanted to tag along. And if he had been initially confirmed to make the trip I would have probably saved and planned for that, and then it would have been a happy coincidence that Green Day were there But like this it is so "last minute" that it just seems very unfeasible. 1

Oooh how tempting! I can understand that it’s really difficult to decide that reasonably. As for me, my mood right now is „let’s enjoy everything as long as we still can…“

And I don't expect to get many excuses to go there. Making adult and responsible decisions is tough!
Robbie1039
I never realized how the very beginning of Viva La Gloria? (Little girl) is Restless Heart Syndrome and that the solo is basically a faster version of that song. Resonating a lot with RHS lately. Cris.
If I ran into Billie Joe today and had time to ask him a single question, that question would be: how did you come to the decision not to include Black Eyeliner in Nimrod? It might be on my top 5 Green Day songs. I just don't get it how it didn't make it to the album. Don't get me wrong, I love Church on Sunday so I'm glad things happened the way they did so that we could get both songs... but just why? 😂 (I'll be back with more random thoughts about this song in a page or two, I don't think I'll get over it anytime soon).

Popular Post PhuzzyPhriend
Feeling like I need to take a moment of silence and honor the fact that today marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Boulevard of Broken Dreams as a single, the song that introduced me to Green Day and changed my life forever. 4
redline punk
About Restless Heart Syndrome I used to hate this song when I was 18 (2009). Now, I think it’s amazing

Addiction is terrible and it’s ruined some aspects of my life already. I mentioned this a bit earlier in the thread, but I never realized the very beginning of the piano intro to Viva La Gloria? (Little girl) is Restless Heart Syndrome’s melody before the instrumental break. On a side not, I watched Riding in Vans with Boys with Kut You Up and man were those guys drunken goof balls. Lucky as hell to go on tour with blink and Green Day. It’s all about who you know sometimes. I gotta say though, it looks like they had more fun on that tour than I have in my entire life lol.

I feel this is the only place where I would brag about that number, as opposed to being absolutely self-conscious and mortified by it 😅 Even here, I think I would wait for others to tell theirs, and if I am in the same order of magnitude - or below - then I might come forward with mine 😂
That Dude
Green Day haven't been playing songs from 4 of their albums, and I wanted to look at setlist.fm and see when they dropped these albums from their sets. I was surprised to learn that they never completely stopped performing songs from any album cycle. Below, I make note of the most recent performances from each album: 39/Smooth - they played some songs in 2023. Rev Rad - they played the title track this year, 2024! Uno - Oh Love was played in 2023. Dos - Amy was played in 2017. Tre - 99 Revolutions made it up to 2015. Father of ALl - the title track and graffitia were played in 2023.
