I have a dark sense of humour, but I don't find that the slightest bit funny. Some people are so twisted.

It's messed up.

Remember that guy who once made a sign that referenced the one minute speech? Billie got the security to take care of him. Not a bit sorry for that person.

Wait, people actually have the audacity to do this type of shit and then call themselves a fan? What a fucking arsehole. Glad Billie sorted him out.

I don't understand how can people have the guts to piss off Billie. He's not someone I would mess with.

I'm glad he doesn't - he's not obliged to take shit from strangers just because they came to a show

I'm a little over half way through watching this and Billie seems a little extra silly at this show. Also, they started the show with Welcome To Paradise and they skipped over The Grouch, which is unusual for the nimrod era

I don't remember, it was a while ago. Defintely before revrad tour.

But I remember Billie said something like "I don't want to look at this shit" and then the guy got wrecked by security. It was badass. 100% Godfather Billie

Well I feel a bit confused for the guy who- got wrecked by security... I think II have a slightly more nuanced position about this than you guys!

To be clear, I would never in public wear a shirt referencing this (especially not at a GD concert) because I know what Billie has said he feels about it and that it would hurt him ; and I find that completely natural. Also, I trust Billie about anything he feels the need to do, or ask security to do, as to preserve himself during a concert.

On the other hand, I would not allow myself to say that that guy who was kicked away with his shirt was not a real fan. I think it's not tolerant to say this, or assuming it's obviously "bad taste". Personally, the one minute thing was one of the first I discovered after becoming a fan (which was the day, the hour, the minute I discovered I knew the boys existed), and it must have taken 3 hours to see this 3 minute thing; crying the whole time, reminding me of my own 10 or 12+ years of severe addiction. I felt deeply sorry for Billie, and deeply relieved he had got out of his addiction by the time I was watching (late 2016).

Last summer, almost one year later, I have felt the need to re-watch it. And my feelings were quite different. While I still felt sorry, and it was still painful, I could watch the whole 2012 IHeart concert without interruption, even with some parts in repeat. Spontaneously, I think of "we've come here to sin, we've come here to live", he said in-between two songs. Billie wasn't acting consciously, to me it went to the point he spoke and acted over whatever he had said or done until that moment, whereas (it's the first thing that comes in my mind) during the RevRad tour, he has showed the greatest happiness, while being freed of his addiction; he no longer does need it to feel complete, day after day. The IHeart incident is part of this evolution. He was forced to move on from things he maybe wouldn't have otherwise (or not this way).

I had a flashback today of Billie's expression during the Hyde Park gig in July. His happiness was so palpable, it's beyond words. It filled me with happiness again. I think this is notably related to him winning a hard struggle, in a hard way; and for fans being currently in a close state to his in late 2012 (this might still be my case sometimes), the IHeart thing might be something mostly positive to think of, knowing the way Billie has managed to overcome it after showing himself, that vulnerable, indeed. I have felt extremely vulnerable myself, and watching his IHeart rant for the second time meanwhile has also helped me, in a very deep, maybe inexplicable way. I have just noticed, among all the pictures of Billie I have in my studio, only two I happen to have twice: a recent picture of Billie singing Still Breathing (I re-post it above for the occasion... damn I love this so much) and a 2012 IHeart one, for some reason.

Perhaps it's still something hard for Billie to think of (once again, it seems totally normal to me, I personally never want to think of my anorexia years) but to me, that 2012 period is something I think of while being mind-peaceful and proud of him, and thankful to him, and I don't think a fan going to a gig and wearing a shirt referencing it would necessarily be a bad or a fake fan.

Just to make myself a bit more clear - to me it isn't about being a good or bad fan, it's about basic decency. If you laugh at grim stuff it's fine but if it includes saying something insulting to people it's not very nice and you have to count with consequences. I'm not really offended by cruel jokes but I don't think people are obliged to take them. If you say crude stuff to people you're risking getting wrecked :P

I bet (I hope) even Billie who got that guy kicked off didn't think of him as necessarily a bad fan, it was just too difficult for him to look at. I believe judgment or interpretation over this guy and his sign (judgment and interpretation which for me include the words decent, insulting, cruel) aren't right in this case. Maybe the guy didn't go deep into Billie's journey, maybe he did and, with his own story, the way he relates to Billie's "meltdown" may be beyond explanation and control, beyond what one would normally find to be basic decency. I don't think that the way I fangirl over Billie is always basic decency, even to myself. That could include stuff from the IHeart (once again, it doesn't mean I would ever feel right to expose it, especially at a GD concert...)

By the way, I haven't seen the scene you've been referring to, so I don't know what that sign was exactly; I'd love to have a look at it; could you possibly give us a link?

Yeah and The First Noel and Why Does It Always Rain On Me and a Network-type song. And was Minnesota Girl from there? It's similar quality but I can't remember if it was or not. Billie would call once a week or something and leave random messages, and just sometimes decided to play songs (hence the terrible quality). There were like 50 of them. They used to be available to download and I used to have them all but I think they're lost now . Tre did some too but I don't think they were ever saved.

I love this one! Includes the "fucking cunt, shit, piss in my mouth" rant :D. Nimrod shows are my favourite to watch.

Yeah Minnesota Girl was one! I have a few of the talky ones I think, Billie Joe talking about music piracy and Tre Cool Loves David Copperfield  and the best one which was recorded New Years 2004, and Billie is just rambling away and talks about their upcoming album which he thinks will be big (and of course it was, lol)

That moment when a GD song is playing on the radio and I scream: "Turn the volume up!!!!!!" and other people say: "Why? You listen to them all the time!" They have no idea what devotion is :D

I'm in a little room by myself today so I was able to sing along (quietly, in case someone came in, lol)

i think of it as before american idiot and after cause he changed the bj from the duct tape to the tape he has now that looks kinda like hockey tape but i don't know, but what it is to be completely honest

Oh I wish we had a Green Day tattoo discussion thread because I was just having this discussion elsewhere where we were trying to identify and date them. There are a lot of photos out there too but I don’t have a site to post photos from if you’re feeling ambitious and want to start a thread hopefully that will be okay with the mods. I love talking about their ink.

What’s funny about the JCS one is that I’ve always loved that show and when I saw he had it I thought he was a fan too. Turned out he only got to know the musical later. He just saw the image on his friend’s soundtrack album and liked it but hadn’t even heard it. I couldn’t imagine taking that kind of risk with a tattoo. What if he heard the show and hated it? But then he always had a christianity fetish so it makes sense.

I love the look of his full sleeves overall, but individually I love “Be Silently Drawn” and the fact that he has his kids’ names and Adie’s pictures and anything that has more meaning for him. Even the little homemade ones are cool because they have a history, like the matching stars he and Mike have.

I've recently gained a huge appreciation for X-Kid. It has quickly become one of my favorites.

This is a brilliant set of lyrics:

"Did you wake up late one day and
You're not so young, but you're still dumb
And you're numb to your old glory but now it's gone"

It is! X-Kid has great lyrics. It's often overlooked but it's definitely one of the lyrically best songs on the trilogy.
