The Trilogy is massively underrated

Seriously though.

I always wanted green day to go kinda back and sound more punk or whatever but when they did it now in the trilogy I realized how bad a decision it was.For me the trilogy had nothing new or fresh.Or interesting.Just green day which I consider a good band jamming some songs. So it's not noise or really bad music. But it's not good or inspired either!People saying it's better than American Idiot or anything else they've ever done sound funny.Like you can compare American Idiot's catchy tunes, epicness and emotion with songs like those they gave us in the trilogy. And to think my favorite album is Insomniac!Oh and the lyrics are actually bad!Except from some high points they overally suck major dick.

It goes Insomniac>American Idiot>Kerplunk>Dookie>Warning=Nimrod>21stCB>1039>>>>>>>>Dos>Uno>Tre for me.

You had me until Dos being your favourite Trilogy album and Tre being their worst album overall :P

Except "Brutal Love" isn't theirs and the lyrics to "Nuclear Family" suck balls.

Nuclear Family has some of the best lyrics on the Trilogy. Far more complex than Extraordinary Girl.

People aren't just comparing it to it, Sam Cooke is actually credited in the Tre album booklet as a writer because they deliberately used elements of his song.

I agree it's an overreaction though! Choosing to openly use an element of an existing song (and giving credit for it) isn't "ripping it off". Taking inspiration from or making a tribute to or building from something that went before is just another way of making music and it doesn't make it any less legitimate. Some amazing songs, films and pieces of art wouldn't exist without previous artists' work having been incorporated into them.

I agree but I never did find that credit to Sm Cooke in the lyric book. Whereabouts is it?

Not for me anyway.

Your static and stubborn opinion on the Trilogy stopped mattering the day UNO was released.

*shrug* It sounds good, which is more than can be said for the vast majority of the Trilogy. It's hardly "Where in the world's the forgotten, they're lost inside your memory." :P

And more complex than "She's an extraordinary girl in an ordinary world."

No opinion is less valid then another. Especially on the internet. Don't be a child.

I'm just saying. All you do is trash on the Trilogy. A good opinion is one that regards both sides and doesn't immediately put down anything to do with the topic.

Just like yours on 21CB.

And more complex than "She's an extraordinary girl in an ordinary world."

"More complex" doesn't equal "better". You, as a fan of a band that's been recycling the same chords for decades, should know this.

There is no such thing as a "good" opinion. Plus you seem to have decided long ago that 21stCB is the worst thing ever inflicted on man so you're being a tad hypocritical here.

I changed my mind though. I posted that sometime in September. I admitted I was being ignorant towards it. The status got a bunch of likes. Lady Nightlife would know.

I genuinely really love it. I'm not sure if I do as much as other albums but I honestly think it's really different, I find it difficult to compare.

Are we talking Green Day? This is a Green Day fan site, and you are also on it, so aren't we both fans?

And again, I changed my mind on 21CB in September and admitted to being ignorant to it.

I highly doubt she has any recollection of it.

Yes, I'm a fan. Now rebut my point.

So now having strength in one's conviction is a bad thing? Just because someone can admit they were wrong about an album doesn't mean anyone else has to. Why should anyone have to censor their opinion on the Trilogy just because others don't like it?

What has being a fan got to do with anything? He stated a fact. He never actually said it was a bad thing. I, for one, don't believe it is. A chord progression = / = a song.

HEY.

But yeah, Nuclear Family is probably the most solid song on Uno, come at me.

It is, objectively. Hell, Stay The Night is my favourite song on the Trilogy and even I know Nuclear Family is better

Do you know what rebut means?

Yes. It means to argue against in some way. I was saying that I misunderstood his tone and therefore a rebuttal is not necessary.

Nuclear Family just has that unmistakable Green Day edge to it. I'll admit when I first heard it I had such high hopes for Uno. It hooked me almost as effectively as "American Idiot" hooked me into that album.

Yeah, definitely. I was so disappointed by the time I got to Kill The DJ, it's an amazing start to an album. It doesn't even matter that the lyrics are a bit weird, the actual sounds of the words together sound great and it's the closest anything on the Trilogy comes to matching the quality of general Green Day stuff.

Ah, DookieLukie, you never fail to amuse. I wonder how things would be different if your name was NimrodJimrod or TrilogyBillogy.
