Anaïs.
I don't insult people. I only make fun of AI fanboys. So AI fanboys aren't people?
Clean Cut Asshole
Nope. Just pointing out that he gets bitched at for it all the time, yet when people insult others for liking the Trilogy it is allowed because you agree with their opinion Um, I don't think Tom ever said that. Clean Cut Asshole
Why would he be trolling? The problem with this forum is that people get lots of hate for stating different opinions. But when someone makes fun out of the trilogy it's ok? That's how the whole world is, the reason it's okay to make fun of the trilogy is because it's a popular opinion. Though while I personally don't like the trilogy, I don't make fun of people that do.

Ryan
"yet when people insult others for liking the Trilogy it is allowed because you agree with their opinion" He doesn't have to say it...it's obviously how it works. Just look around here and unpopular opinions. People who mock people who like the Trilogy don't get anything said to them.
Anaïs.
I can't see that GIF as I'm on mobile, but I'm going to assume it's either mocking what I said or asking me to clarify. I'll do so. If you're making fun of someone in a nonfriendly manner, in a way they don't appreciate, that's insulting them. So are you saying AI fanboys aren't people? Or are you saying making fun of people isn't the same as insulting them? Because the latter isn't true in most cases.

Is the problem why people hate the trilogy because it's not mainstream as AI was? What makes it a popular opinion (at least for me) is that many people agree with it. I've heard plenty of other people outside of GDC criticize it too. I just don't like the trilogy. I feel like it's half-assed at best, the guitar sound is too weak. That's just my take on it. He doesn't have to say it...it's obviously how it works. Just look around here and unpopular opinions. People who mock people who like the Trilogy don't get anything said to them. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but I've never seen someone actually make fun of people for liking the trilogy.

I'm not saying it's true that the trilogy is shit, I'm saying it's true that disliking it is a popular opinion. I'm not even sure how you can argue with me on that. And it wasn't just a few people, I've heard plenty of people say it and there even was a list of "The Most Regrettable Albums" made by some website and the trilogy was on there. WhiteTim
To be fair I've never seen anyone (at least none of the regular posters) really bash people for liking the trilogy where as Seagull has and does bash folks for liking AI and 21st and not in a jokingly way Not to bash on Seagull as I don't have a issue with him like some others may have I disagree with his opinion about his hate towards those albums but he is entitled to his opinion
Clean Cut Asshole
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, they're just not entitled to act like assholes about it. I try not to act like an asshole over my hate of the trilogy, I do bring up that I hate it quite a bit but that's pretty much just because I think it's kinda funny, I'm seriously not trying to change anyone's opinion. Maybe because people who call themselves fans don't like things that aren't mainstream. The same thing happened when Warning was released. Because the album didn't sell well people said that the album was bad. Now 14 years later Warning is considered to be a top 3 GD album. Just because AI was released during the Bush and all the "fuck war" era where teens only found out who GD are and became huge fanboys doesn't mean that the album is better than the trilogy. Mark my words people who don't like the trilogy now will change their opinion through the years.

Do you really think *any* of the Trilogy haters here care about what's "mainstream"? Would Ceadog like Biffy Clyro were that the case? Would I like Anaïs Mitchell? Would Tom like the Manic Street Preachers? Besides, you lump 21CB in with AI when it's the third-worst selling record of their career, so how is that "mainstream" when Dookie and Nimrod apparently aren't? And quite simply, *none* of the most prominent Trilogy haters' reasons for hating it have to do with popularity. Guitar tone, vocal filters, recycled melodies and shoddy lyrics? Yes. Popularity? No.

No, the album is not mainstream, but it is not underground (as WhiteTim said). And I hear "Stray Heart" on the radio a lot BTW.
