Just finished hand silk screening 300- "Heart Like a Hand Grenade" and "Lushotology" t-shirts. Made by yours truly! I will be giving them out for free at the after party at the St. Felix after the Cinerama Dome showing. Be there!

Okay not accepting and more friend request. It's getting creepy. Sticking with my old crew.

Hi All,

Was anyone else crazy underwhelmed by this? I mean, playing the full album track of "Jesus of Suburbia" in the beginning was pretty egregious. Same w/ "Homecoming" toward the end. I was anticipating Kathleen Hanna recording her vocal to be a bigger moment than it was too. Even the live footage. Besides "American Idiot," nothing seemed to have any life to it.

I cracked up at Billie's Sonic Youth line, and hearing that 4 other A&R people thought Rob should sign them was cool, but other than that I was pretty bored.

Are Ronnie Blake or Mike Pelino in this movie ?

I don't remember spotting Ronnie, but Mike is in there for St. Jimmy, during the live footage.

I wasn't underwhelmed, but I also haven't been waiting eleven years to see it like some people have. Nothing could live up to eleven years of hype, no matter what, but I thought it could've been better. Less live footage and more behind the scenes stuff would've probably done it for me. There was nothing particularly special about that first live show of the material, imo, and I'd rather have had more insight into the songwriting and recording process of such an iconic album, rather than another performance that we've basically already seen in any other live video from the AI tour.

I was a bit underwhelmed with it too. I thought it wouldve dealt with writing the album more, rather than performing it after it was written. I liked billie doing when its time though

this confirmed that letterbomb (clusterbomb) was written during the warning era..neat tidbit

Its kind of a time warp watching it. Its a cool gd related thing to come out of the vault

was the opening song during the title a GD outtake?

I just came back from the screening. I really liked it :) Yeah I feel like since it took so long we've built it up in our heads to be better than it actually was, so I can understand people feeling underwhelmed. But otherwise I really liked it. I hoped it would focus more on the making of the album, but some of the performances were cool too...except JOS...wtf was that? I was just so ready for it end and then it kept going! I loved all the funny bits in there with my favorite being the part where Billie keeps going "YEEEAH!" and then they make a sample of it. That was the best. I think what I enjoyed the most was the actual experience of seeing the movie in theaters with other Green Day fans. It was cool to see them come in with their GD shirts and what not. We were sharing an experience together and it was pretty awesome. Also, I loved the message at the end that said thanks to the fans for waiting eleven years. That was so adorable!

My favorite part was probably seeing Billie cry when he heard the ending of Whatsername coming together.

I totally loved it! I guess I did think they would go more into the development of the songs, but I still enjoyed it.  Billie Joe looks so young!   Watching the performances on the big screen with surround sound was a great way to tide me over until they tour again. The only problem was staying in my seat when I wanted to get up and dance.

The avant-garde dancing that accompanied Jesus of Suburbia was kind of bizarre, at first I was like “WTF is this?”  But as I watched I started to enjoy it.  Of course, I have always enjoyed weird stuff that no one else can figure out.  I found it interesting how the male dancers had 1960’s outfits and the female dancers had 1920’s outfits.

I think the funniest part was Billie Joe reciting the negative comments from the message board.  My kids would have loved that part. They like to watch those YouTube videos of celebrities reading mean tweets about themselves. But Billie was much funnier, using this tone of voice and facial expressions that mocked the people who wrote them.

There were only about 17 people in the theater, but that is still pretty good considering the mess with trying to get tickets.

Perhaps the thread name needs to be changed now with a warning alert:mad: Or could people perhaps put it in a spoiler.

I am waiting for the dvd but I wanted more footage on the making/recording of the album.

Policy I've always followed is that once something gets officially released, it's fair game to talk about it openly in the thread, and if you want to avoid spoilers, you stay out.

Surprised at some of the reactions in here, I think this is easily my favorite Green Day documentary now. The footage was incredible, and I also love how it proved what a tremendous fucking dork Billie is. I strongly disagree with the person who said he's the most serious one, he was hilarious in this.

I liked the bit with the cocaine and the hookers. Really wasn't expecting it. Also was that Andres in that scene? You guys know the one I'm talking about. It had to be him.

They did cocaine and paid for sex in the film?

Vimeo says the video's creator determines what time a video goes up on its release date, and it looks like that time isn't midnight EST. I guess I'm going to sleep now. Hopefully I'll find some time to watch it tomorrow evening.
