Radio interview with John about HLAHG.

http://www.wzonthepulse.com/podcast/John_Roeker_on_WZON_10-05-15.mp3

Confirms international and DVD release (which we already knew).

Hints at new album news....but don't think we can read too much into that.

Can someone please transcribe what he says from 15:52? I understand that he's only guessing on the international and DVD? This is what I understand: "I'm very... I guess on the DVD and I guess on the international which will just be really big".

And then the new album hints, I never saw any fan wondering about if this is a build up for new music, I can't see the relation between releasing a movie about one album and relasing a new one tbh  As easily as I get excited, John's reply seems to me like something he said to get by answering the question. This is what I understood of his reply though, it's quite difficult to understand (16:16):
Interviewer: "Also, the fans are wondering if this is the build up of maybe a new Green Day album coming out".
John: "Ahh... that... that... that's another thing, yeah. There's lot of... incomprehensible... it'll have to wait".

Loved that interview with John. He seems like a really cool dude. Can't wait for the naked Jacuzzi scene! Also, that When It's Time footage is going to be awesome.

As far as the "new album news" I'd have to think we'd be getting a new album in the early part of next year. Somewhere around the spring I'd guess. I don't really have anything to base that off of, but it's just a hunch. Just get the feeling that things are sort of building up to next year.

So pumped for this film!

Don't exactly trust John about the new album. He likes hyping up nothing, like he's been doing with HLAHG for 10 years. We'll see though.

My guess is the band has been writing songs for most of the last year and have been working on a new album. Things have been awfully quiet lately and there hasn't been much to see social media wise regarding any of them so I'd say they're taking a completely different approach than they did with trilogy by telling us absolutely nothing. New album sometime in 2016 for sure.

I'd say this is spot-on, if I'm trusting my gut. Honestly, less promotion could be more for them. Feels less forced that way.

Yet one of the main complaints about the Trilogy was NOT ENOUGH promotion. You fickle Green Day fans.

I don't recall ever complaining about promotion. Mostly, I just complained that it kind of sucked. Oh, and I complained about Angry Birds.

Hmm, the Nov. 13 rumor is making me rethink driving 140 miles round-trip to see it in theaters only four weeks earlier :ninja:

I'm still so angry I can't skip the school board debate and go see it. I was supposed to have one every Thursday night in October, but of course, the one that gets canceled is the week AFTER Oct. 15.

I don't think they're not going to promote it. I just think nobody will know what's going on until one day we hear about a new Green Day single being released in the coming weeks because everybody will be like "no way!".

With the trilogy everyone had already heard every song long before its release and there were tons of videos and such leading up to its release. I think they're very confident in whatever they've got going on and feel the music will speak for itself, which is very promising.

Day after hubby's birthday. Belated gift for him? Maybe. :P

I'm sure your hubby will be just as thrilled as mine is when they find out what they are doing on November 13.

Cool interview! Interesting to hear that the original was lost/partly lost so he had to start again. I don't know if he would've had to re-cut it to get it approved to be released anyway but still interesting.

And yeah that didn't sound like anything to pay much attention to.

That interview with John was kinda funny when he thanked the Green Day community for being SO supportive of him over the years, when all I can remember is all of us shitting on him for the last 10 years

But actually he was much more charming in person than online/writing/whatever other impressions I've had of him as a dickweed

To be fair I think that only started once the film coming out seemed to be off the table :P. Before that he was well liked on here, when I first joined GDC people used to listen to his radio show and call in, and join in with the silly lushotology stuff, and enjoy looking forward to seeing the film one day. He might not be aware of the more recent bitching on here.
