What Green Day songs should i listen to?

It means Fixed That For You and you implied it. You just told him not to listen to a song just because you don't like it. That's retarded.

I was kidding around, calm down.

Wow that's mature. The fact is that it's not a political album. It's got the name American Idiot and Holiday is political, so the idea that the album is political caught on. It's about teenagers in suburbia.

and if you kept reading I said 'because is is not the time or the place', which it isn't as it's derailing the thread. what I said about American Idiot and Warning is my PERSONAL opinion. you have no say in that at all so just quit it.

Don't try to fight with her, some people are unreasonable.

how is this anything to do with you, stop jumping in just to take a chance to insult me. it's childish. he pretty much said my opinion was wrong and I defended myself. how is that unreasonable.

Because the only political song on the album is Holiday, and if you want to count it Favorite Son. The rest are about society and the media, not the government.

Let's not forget the song American Idiot. The video for Wake Me Up When September Ends was rather political. The album itself was a social commentary on where America was at that time. It might not of been directly political but it is made obvious within the album that the state the country's in at the time plays a big role in the events.

Well my opinion is that squares have three sides. Doesn't make it true.

This thread barely has rails in the first place, it proved, like I honestly expected, to be just A) people saying "all of it" or B) People listing their own favorites. We aren't exactly taking anything away from it, especially when OP already said "thank you" and left.

If I have no say in it then you don't either. If you really thought it was an opinion then you wouldn't be so sensitive about it and would just accept that mine's different. Instead you responded with harsh sarcasm and told me to shut up. That's why beejeezee said you're unreasonable. When I tell you you my opinion, it's a personal attack on you. When you do the same, it's "defending it".

Even though it isn't an opinion.

AI was about media victimization, not politics. Social issues aren't always political issues. Agree about WMUWSE though.

Check out the music videos/singles, and live performances and then look into the album tracks. Dookie, American Idiot and Nimrod are generally regarded to be Green Day's best albums, but Insomniac is my personal favorite. For live performances I would look at these shows: Bullet In A Bible (American Idiot tour), Woodstock (Dookie), Awesome As Fuck (21st Century Breakdown), Jaded In Chicago (Dookie) and Goat Island (Warning)

Wasn't waiting too? And with as much of a go to as letterbomb's been it prob should of made it to a single. Didn't they open the Hall of Fame 2012 induction ceremony with it?

Speaking of, based on 39/Smooth they're up for induction in 2015. It'd be fuckin bullshit if they get passed by.

edit: I think they're wrong but wiki says waiting wasn't.. there was a video and a lot of radio play though

I am a recent fan, so to say. I have heard some of their latest work, but I don't feel like I truly know them as artists through their earlier stuff. if you have a song you would like to suggest (preferably old) you are welcome to post it here

I would like to thank all the great suggestions put in by you lovely visitors. I never intended for this to get out of hand by starting a fight, though. I have listened to almost all of them, and loved everything, including the Foxboro hot tubs.

I'm glad you're enjoying it! Nothing better than finding a new band you like. Don't worry about people getting into a disagreement btw, just happens sometimes and it's no fault of yours.

Personally I really love listening to whole albums. That way you hear all the songs together the way the band intended them, for me listening to all the songs that fit together and compliment each other is always more satisfying that listening to a selection of different songs from different albums. So my recommendation is to do that! Pick any album and listen to the whole thing.

Also check out some live performences once you have got to grips with some of the classics.

Really, looking at some lives on youtube will give you a good impression/sense of what green day is like in concert, and also how the songs have evolved other time.

I always start noobs off with AI because #reasons and then to introduce them to a song off of each album I'll pop them back to "At the Library," "One of My Lies," "Welcome to Paradise" OR "Burnout," "Brat," "Scattered" OR "The Grouch," "Minority," "Maria," and "21 Guns." I haven't introduced anyone to the trilogy yet and I'm still not sure which songs I'd have them start with.

Maria, thats a good one. Easily overlooked too.

Pretty much Intl. Superhits is your best bet. Hear that first and then go to each album to find the "gems", better start with the earlier stuff.
