Hermione
Sorry but are people seriously saying that Billie's acting in Haunted was good?! We must not've been watching the same video. But that doesn't matter. Who knows how much better he could be years later and in a different role that he was already great at on stage? No one knows if it'll be good or bad unless he tries. And regardless of how good it is it could still be an interesting, mind expanding experience for him, and will still be interesting for us to watch either way. "It might not be very good" seems a pretty terrible reason for a performer to not try something new and creative to me.

Sarcasm
Well that clip from This is 4o with him isint very good either and also even his voice over role for the simpsons movie sounds incredibly forced and awkward even though he was basically doing what he does every other day being a frontman....he isint a good actorwell thats your opinion. I thought he was good in this is 40, but not so great in nurse Jackie.I'm hoping for a movie kind of styled like 8 Mile though, and not a cringe fest. lizziebix
I loved his Haunting performance. I truly believe he was suppose to be that awkward and unassuming. You mean he wasn't?
sara_gd
i think people are just not used to seeing him on the screen in a different role, but people definitely shouldn't say that "he cannot act" or whatever and be negative just because this is something different and new that he's doing. I don't know if you were putting me into that "people", but I have to say that that's not what I think at all. I wouldn't close to "something new and different", I'm glad that's he's trying something new, and it's not that I'm like "he's a musician, not an actor, he shouldn't act!", not at all. It's only that I don't like the acting that I've seen, so. I wouldn't know, I only watched it once. Haunted is great though, and there's also that one he played guitar on where he was like someone's friend or something. Also that deleted scene from whatever movie it was with the Viking band thing. What Viking band thing? I don't think I watched that one. What happens to me is just that what I saw doesn't make me want to see more, but maybe I should give him a chance. Sorry but are people seriously saying that Billie's acting in Haunted was good?! We must not've been watching the same video. But that doesn't matter. That's why I'm not upset or anything that he's doing it, it's just that it scares me that he would do a shit performance. But let's see! lizziebix
He waant bad in this is 40 but then he wasnt really acting just being himself... So what you're saying is that he's not bad when playing himself. So since St Jimmy is just another side of himself, he, therefore, wouldn't be so bad at it. Yeah, that's the ticket!
Sirens-of-Decay
Did you ever see him play Jimmy in the musical? He was 110% perfect. He WAS Jimmy. I was most nervous about seeing Jimmy portrayed in the musical because he was the character I liked the most in the AI saga, and Billie nailed him. I've seen videos from his Broadway performance, which to say the least are AMAZING, but I don't know about his movie acting. I guess I just haven't seen enough of it. Hopefully since it's his own character it'll be a good performance.

Ummm i didnt say that... dont put words in my posts that's not there But I've never said he'd be terrible flat out just said there is a major difference between acting in Broadway and acting in a movie and if we are judging from his brief past expereinces he's not a great actor but then he hasnt really has alot to really judge and he's not the worst

The only scene that portrays abstinence in a painful way is Trainspotting, and that was epic. I also don't want it to be too polished. I want the actors to have facial flaws and not be smooth skinned hollywood bitches and buff guys from South Beach, that would kill the whole style of the album they're making the movie from. Marrymebilliejoe
I was just adding through a few of the pages but I was just curious as to anyone's idea about how they would transcribe the musical into a movie? I mean it's obviously going to be different but how much? And in regards to Billies acting in it..I think he will do a good job because unlike the other cameos he did he was given stuff..and like the American Idiot stuff is HIS stuff..I mean he is no Tom Hanks (or insert your favorite actor) but I think he's deccent I mean I think he chose the musician life for a reason guys xD

Clockwise
I really have faith that Michael Mayer will push him to give a fantastic performance in this. Besides, this isn't some guest spot in a movie, it's way more important to him than that.
sara_gd
calm down mate. i didn't even read your post. I'm not angry, and I said I didn't know if you were refering to me or not. But, you said "people" in a way that could refer to people that aren't completely positive about Billie playing the role, and in that case I don't think you're correct about the majority of the people who aren't completely positive about Billie playing the role. That's why I replied as one of them.
Heather.
What I want from the style is the grim views of a shitty place to live, cynical characters, swearing (I can't watch the movie if the characters goes "WHAT THE FRICK, MAN?!"), somewhat realistic sex scenes and abstinence scenes. I want the actors to have facial flaws and not be smooth skinned hollywood bitches and buff guys from South Beach, that would kill the whole style of the album they're making the movie from. That would be cool, but no way in hell are we going to get that. A part of me thinks that they definitely WILL honor the R-ratedness of the album and musical, because that's how the story is meant to be told, and with Billie involved how could he consent to letting his "baby" be Disneyfied too much. On the other hand, he and MM and all the producers might agree that it's in the best interest of the film, to get this somewhat diluted message out to a younger audience, to try to make this movie PG13, when push comes to shove. Rent has a lot of "fucks" in the soundtrack and it's about AIDS, heroin, depression, etc, and they managed to make that PG13 and I think it was a good idea because it meant my life was able to change from being exposed to those messages at age 15. So as truthful as it would be to make American Idiot as adult-content as it should be, maybe in the grand scheme of things it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to tame it down a little and give a brand new generation of teenagers a chance to go see a movie with music that can change their lives. Besides, I think the trilogy distracted us from just how little cursing is actually on the American Idiot album. Pretty sure he says fuck five times on the whole album. And as emotionally true as "I HATE MY FUCKING LIFE!" would be, I would hope that the screenwriters could come up with perhaps some more interesting dialogue than Billie Joe himself tends to lean toward On that note, wasn't Dustin Lance Black going to write this? Because if that pans out, what a dream team.

IcyMoffatt
I'm happy for Billie playing St.Jimmy if the movie does come out someday. He loves acting once in awhile. But I must say he isn't a great actor neither a bad one. He is just a so-so actor. It depends of the previous roles he had. Well, in Nurse Jackie, his acting skills didn't convince me that his caracther died. In fact, I was laughing when I watched the episode. Iva
By the time they get this movie started Billie will be 65 years old and the heroine can go right in his IV bag and out his catheter Please, don't say that you see 65-year-olds like this and that this is just a joke.
