McBain
I've said this before and no one really understood, but I personally think Green Day are repeating history. I mean let's compare old and new green day. OLD GREEN DAY (When album sales were higher) NEW GREEN DAY (When album sales dwindled) DOOKIE AMERICAN IDIOT - Commercial breakthrough, 10,000,000 records in the U.S. - Repopularized the band, 6,000,000 sold in US (About half of Dookie's sales) - considered an iconic 90's album - considered an iconic 00's album INSOMNIAC 21st CENTURY BREAKDOWN -follow up to massive record WITH SAME STYLE as previous album - follow up to massive record WITH SAME STYLE as previous album (also both concept albums) - 2,500,000 records in the US - roughly 1,100,000 records in the US (about half of Insomniac's sales) NIMROD/WARNING UNO/DOS/TRE - Both these albums were the band experimenting with styles - A change in sound from the previous two albums - Warning considered a commercial flop - Trilogy considered a commercial flop - Billie Joe charged with DUI - Billie Joe sent to rehab for alcoholism and prescription abuse IF MY THEORY CONTINUES TO BE TRUE... ...the follow up to the trilogy will be another huge Green Day record. Even look at the years of Dookie/Idiot. 1994/2004/2014??? How poetic would it be if Green Day repeated history again and not only become one of the only bands to have breakthrough not just twice, but three times in their career?! In all seriousness though, it would be awesome if the next album was a big hit. The guys deserve it.

Not a particularly unheard of theory...a very popular one, actually. I sure as hell hope it's true, though. I'll feel like one proud mother if they hit the musical jackpot again. McBain
Yeah but there really no chance for a new album in 2014... hey with these guys, you never know what they're gunna do. How many of us were expecting them to release 3 albums in a year?! But I do agree with you because I'm pretty sure it's safe to say they'll be doing something for Dookie's 20th.
