As with everything Green Day related, my favourites change a lot. The song, the pyrotechnics, the guitar, the denim vest, his energy and passion being at its absolute peak, his voice as he screams out the final "I ain't gonna stand in line no more".. Don't get me wrong, I like emotions, but I'm also very glued togehter and not in anyway "hysterical" (yes, THAT is what I call being emotional), not even for Green Day. This band that is the musical comparisment to "the love of my life". But I will give it a try. There is something about Billie, especially Billie that I connect to. I believe it's these moments of melancholy. Its not a permanent thing, but something that is always present in every song, every movement, every live god damn instagram thing. Always. A grief or sadness that you live with and has become a part of you. A vulnerability. For some reason I see this shining through the most when he is in a goofy mood, like on instagram and that's when I feel the most connected to Green Day. It's a little desperate, but not obvious, it's the mask to cover another mask so to speak. You get weird and slightly awkward when you never really got over your own hell, so instead you part have to live with it and part sometimes take a forced vacation from it, so to speak. I can't really explain it, but it's there. The pain, the giref, the out-of-your-mind, panic, desperate, fucked upness. Never put up on display, at least not for real, but it's in the background. Like a little devil on your shoulder. I always cry the most during the most upbeat songs, the party songs, because that's where it gets real. Where it shows. I am a little drunk.
