Totally off topic but since I feel like I kind of know you ladies I have to say I am just devastated about Chester Bennington. He was an amazing talent. Just one rock star after another. I'm so sad.. Why do these lead singers keep killing themselves? It scares me.

I'm so sad, too. I used to be a huge fan.

A picture and going full on ass-naked on stage aren't the same. He hasn't gone on stage ass-naked since the 90's when he was definitely intoxicated.

'cept the thousand times when he mooned the crowd, fully revealing his ass, and oh, the balls as well.

No dick was involved though.

What's your point though? He still does silly/fun/cheeky/suggestive stuff on stage (and is still a show off and part time exhibitionist :P). Naturally he's grown up a bit over time but not every silly thing he's ever done was solely caused by intoxication.

I am with Hermione, what exactly is your point?

By mooning just the right way

If the point is just that he's calmed down a bit on stage (owing to being sober and/or older) then I do agree. But I still wouldn't say he acts his age during KFAD :P, plenty of silliness left in him.

Edit: Wow what a page own

Every time I hear of yet another artist passing away, I can't help but think that they mean as much to their biggest fans as these idiots mean to us. Unfortunately, there have been many days that have reminded me of that lately. Very sad to hear about Chester Bennington's death, and it just makes me want to love my dudes a little harder. I don't know what I'd do without Sea Captain Billie.

Well, people who've been to the Konstanz show report seeing balls, not the dick. He's perfected the art of mooning.

That's another work of art

I was going to post about this too. Not only was it shocking and sad, but I was just yesterday thinking about Billie and how hard it must have been to be a superfan in 2011-2012 and seeing his very visible decline. I would have been worried sick every day I don't know how he or his fans survived that time.

It came up because I've been listening to some rarer tracks lately and specifically the songs Suffocate and State of Shock freaked me out. I would have been seriously concerned for him had I heard them pre-rehab and I know Chester B wrote a lot of lyrics that are viewed by many as a cry for help. I'm sorry he didn't get the help he needed. I'm glad Billie did but we also know recovery is not a straight line and I still worry about the things that as fans we could never know about. You just never know what's really going on in a person's life even if things seem okay.

Ironically, I was listenning to Still Breathing when I read the news about Chester Bennington's suicide.  The same thing could have happenned to Billie Joe years ago. No need to talk about it any further.

Chester's death is so sad to learn. No one should suffer in silence. Suicide doesn't solve anything. I wasn't a fan of Linkin Park, but I liked a couple of songs and I respected the band.

I love Linkin Park, not as much as GD but probably next on the list.  I am so sad at this awful news and that I never got to see them live.  I thought Chester was an awesome singer and writer and so sad that he has suffered like this.  Very sobering.

2012 was a very dark, very difficult period. I don't even like to remember the amount of sadness and worry I felt at that time, which was happening at the same time as personal issues, too. Seeing someone who has given you so much happiness and inspiration in such a bad situation is painful. But what came out of that time was better health and more happiness in the band than I could've ever imagined. I am eternally grateful and count my blessings because of that time. Life with Green Day is pretty damn good.

I just can't fathom what big fans of Chester must be feeling right now. My heart goes out to them.

It was quite simple - we didn't realize what was wrong, most of us didn't realize something was off at all. I thought he'd aged fast, that was it.

I agree some of his lyrics are haunting. Suffocate is one of my favorite songs but it's never been an easy listen.

All we can do as strangers is to wish him well - no point in worrying when we have no idea about things that aren't our business anyway. Hopefully he's fine and I hopefully he remains that way.

As to Chester, I don't think I can listen to some of his songs right now. I think I'm gonna cry tbh.

Tre took it on Lady C's order! We figured it out :P

I'm very sorry, this is a big loss for you. I really feel like he was special.

Why does it seem like these extremely gifted musicians with such big hearts have such tortured minds and souls?

I think it's because they feel everything so deeply it's what makes them so good at expressing themselves but it comes at a price.

I've written quite a long post in the main thread for Chester's passing, read it if you wanna know how the news impacted the LP fandom today. But just to comment on your posts here: the weird thing was that while we knew Chester had struggled with all those issues in the past, he seemed better than ever. I met him a month ago, to this day actually, and he was extremely cheerful, smiling and bouncing. It came as a huge shock for all of us.

You - the GD fans (me included) - are extremely lucky that something like this didn't happen back in 2012. I'm really hoping Billie stays well. Both Chester and Chris Cornell seemed over their issues and sober. Relapse and depression are an asshole that seem to sneak up on people when least expected.

And this is exactly why I still worry. 😕
