stories and songs Posted October 5, 2016 Share Posted October 5, 2016 @Teenage Lush I don't think you sound crazy at all. I feel the same way—I've been a fan of this band for more than half my life. They've made me happy during otherwise dark times, and I've stuck around through the shit they went through, too. They have had an indescribable impact on my life—I can't divorce myself from who I am without them, because they've been part of my everyday for such a long time. No one and nothing has come close to having as much meaning in my life as they have other than my closest family and friends. The emotion I feel when I'm at a Green Day concert is something completely different than how I feel at any other point in time. Last time around for promo, even before iHeart, things felt weird and off to me. At the time, I thought it was a "me" thing, and I just wasn't jiving with them anymore. And that completely broke my heart—the idea that maybe I wasn't going to connect with them in the way I used to. After everything came to light it, made more sense that I was getting strange vibes. I had hope that things would get better, but it was weird after that for a long time, because there were no interviews or anything—no real way to gauge what the band would be like after that era: Would things get better, worse? Would they be recognizable to me again? Would things genuinely feel good again, or would they just push forward and pretend? So to enter this new era, and have everything feel so fresh and happy? Wow. I've never had as much fun as a fan as I'm having right now. I'm loving every second of this, and not taking any of it for granted. It honestly feels like falling in love with them all over again, with both me and them in much better places than where we first found each other. Even though everyone I know knows they're my favorite band, I've always kept my interest in them on the down low. Lately, I couldn't be prouder to show them off. It's the best. They're like best friends, don't know if that sounds stupid, don't care, but they really are. I mean, they've been with me for almost 12 years, that's a really long friendship that sometimes feels like a marriage lol. By the way, I'm at work and I must take a moment to reflect on just how absolutely beautiful Billie Joe has been during this tour. Not only is he gorgeous in every way: face, hair, body, the outfits, everything, but he is so happy to be performing again that he absolutely glows from the joy of it! What an amazing man. Yep I love the jacket! I was only able to take a couple of screenshots on my phone as the memory is nearly full and my computer is playing up.
