That shirt and waistcoat looked a little too small for him  (so short!) and he had a little muffin top above his pants but he pulled it off very well. That polka dot shirt and grey waistcoat was one of his best concert outfits.

It is not a muffin top, it is a pillow.  Get it right next time.

Whatever it is, it's very pleasing to look at.

I have my own song on my boyfriend's band's album now - You know... I can't sing he just wanted me to shut up about Billie Joe offering me something I couldn't say no to: My own song  xD

A lovesong song written by me, about me and for me. ;)

Since it's on now, I can go on fangirling anyway

I finally listened to Billie Joe's Rolling Stone phone interview. He has such a nice speaking voice! And wow, he was much more coherent than he has traditionally been in interviews, I was so proud of him.

You really think he has a nice speaking voice?  It is so high pitched.  Also, it sounds very different than it did in the past.  I don't understand why.

Yes his voice is high and kind of nasal but it's resonant and clear and I like his California accent, it's cute.

I wouldn't say it's nice but hearing it sure makes me smile. It's funny, maybe kind of cute...

OK I always end up laughing at how high it has become since I last heard him

I'd really like to know how this could happen. He seems to talk in falsetto.

I know, how the hell does someones voice change like that.  I know as we age our voices will change, but they generally don't get higher.

Here is an interview from 1994

Here is one from Broadway Idiot, the interview starts around 1:15

They don't sound like the same person.  How the hell does that happen?

I agree, I like listening to him talk, but I liked the tone of his speaking voice when he was younger.

Yes, voices in fact usually get deeper as people age and smoke cigarettes. It's unbelievable. He had such a smooth-sounding speaking voice before, as if the lower tones of his voice prevailed in it - does it make sense? but I still like it now. I just can't wrap my head around that change.

Me neither, it is almost as if he was or is changing his voice on purpose

Did he quit smoking?  Could that be a factor?

I wouldn't doubt that that is a factor, but I don't know if that would make that much of  a difference.  I've never smoked and no one I'm close with has ever smoked so I really don't know.

Coming from a family of chain smokers - smoking usually gets deeper with smoking.

Yes, I figured that, but if a person who smoked quit, would their voice get higher?

Im not sure but when you quit smoking other things improve - like lung capacity etc so I wouldn't doubt that there would be voice changes.

To an extent - I think.  The dryness and irritation of the vocal chords would be alleviated, even if a full reversal to pre-smoking state wasn't possible due to lesions etc.

Maybe we just never heard his real voice before.

Was he a very heavy smoker though - I have no clue.

I don't know.  I have seen him with a cigarette, but I don't know if he was a heavy smoker.

I hate to admit this, because it makes me sound like one of those teenybopper fans, but one thing that initially drew me to GD was how green and pretty Billie's eyes are.
