I find the "normal guy" part of him even more attractive. Nothing is better that than talented, intelligent and successful men being down-to-earth.

I agree, it's so rare.  And I love how he is so geeky and seems to have fun with his family and his kids. So wonderful. And damn, is he handsome!!!

I know how you feel.  I think it is because one of the major reasons I find him so attractive is because he is so relatable.  He can go onstage and be unbelievably sexy and confident.  Then in real life he is shy and dorky, just like the rest of us.  I love that it appears that he would rather go surfing with his children then go to a party.  He just seems like an every day guy.  Then he is just so damn talented, that is very sexy.

I agree with all of what you just said.

I know, right?? But didn't he have a terrible time with dating? It seems a lot of his songs were about girls ignoring him, breaking up with him, not loving him, etc.  If only they knew how they all blew it!

Well, the fact that he was unsuccessful with girls is just a part of being a terrible nerd on top of all this, isn't it? ;)

I don't know, he had at least 3 girlfriends that we knew of and was married with a kid by 22.  It sounds to me like he was pretty damn successful.

Yes, and I love the nerdiness so much. What a perfect combination; a nerd who is impossibly hot and handsome.

Who were the 3 girlfriends? And didn't they all break up with him?  I know one of them was Amanda, aka Whatsername.  His songs from his teens are so wonderfully angsty.

When I'm going by his lyrics he sounds like a loser, but in fact I have to agree. At one time he must have had 2 girls at once, didn't he? Or at least he switched between Amanda and 80 in a short time. Let's just say he's too handsome to be unsuccessful with girls before this turns into too much speculation. ;)

There was Adrienne, Amanda and I think the other girl was Erica.  The guy was always getting laid.

He's too handsome to be unsuccessful....he's too handsome to be real!!!!

In the new IG video, If he had unzipped that sweatshirt a little and worn a looser T Shirt so the collarbone tattoo was showing,  I would be officially dead now from hot and handsome overload.

You're right about his talent being sexy...I think he's pretty gifted, actually. "Normal" kids, teenagers, just don't do the stuff he did as a kid. The way he loved to perform as a young child is remarkable, and then his songs and poetry were amazing for a 16-17 year old boy! And having the drive ,passion and leadership, despite being kind of thoughtful and  shy,  to create a band and see it through to worldwide fame at such a young age is pretty incredible.

He has always brushed off attempts in interviews to quantify his talent, too.  But yeah, he's gifted.   He's just amazing.

Totally agree, have you seen the interview with BJ and Michael Mayer and the interviewer is asking about him writing Why Do You Want Him at 15 and asks if he was a child prodigy, his reaction is fab, can't describe it but it's gorgeous and I really love that humility he has about him.  Think he's one of the very best songwriters of his generation, so in touch with the world, clever and witty.

Agreed. His humility is one of the most beautiful things about him.

Broadway Idiot review part II: I do love everything about Billie in that movie. What's good in particular is that it really shows how he took it as an opportunity to learn something new and improve. Michael Mayer said multiple times that he was surprised the collaboration worked and I think the reason for that is that Billie seems very openminded about the ideas he and Kitt brought. Sometimes it looks like he can't believe his music really could get this far. I was wondering what would his art had been like if he got to study music for a good part of the movie.

And he's beautiful, he really is. In every moment of the film.

Nice review, part one and two. I wasn't interested in this movie because, like you, I don't really like the sound of the Green Day AI in the Musical Theatre style, in recordings I've heard.  Music Theater is not my favorite.  But it sounds like the movie offers insight into the craft of the thing and Billie's role as well. I've seen clips of him in this movie and he's beautiful; stunning, really. Maybe I'll get a hold of this and watch it after all based on your recommendation :)

I watched some of HLAHG on Youtube and it made absolutely no sense, terrible editing. But he looked beautiful in that, too.

I don't like musicals, it's just never been my thing but this movie is worth watching. At least for the sake of Billie if not anything else.

HLAHG is  absolute utter dribble.  It was one of the worst documentaries I have ever seen.  Broadway Idiot is actually a very well made insight into the creative process and how Billie got involved in the usical.  As far as American Idiot is concerned, it was one of the most exciting and exhilarating theatrical experiences of my life.  You are on a roller coaster for the entire show.  I would highly recommend it.

There is one beautiful scene in HLAHG. When Billie plays his acoustic and sings "When it's Time" in his sweet natural voice for Cavallo and then  asks him, kind of shy,  if it's good. My God I my heart melted. For his singing, his acoustic playing, his sweetness, and his beautiful humility.

I'm probably one of the few people that doesn't like When It's Time.  Billie just doesn't do sappy love songs well.  I'm not a big sappy love song person to begin with and it is just not a good song, at all.  I don't even like it when he changes the words and renames it Wake Me Up When September Ends.

It's not that great of a song, you're right, but I loved his honest delivery of it, and his shy and humble demeanor when showing new material to Rob Cavallo. It just touched me somehow. His love songs are not his best, unless they are upbeat like "2000 Light Years away".

His love songs are the best, when they are real.   I personally think that the greatest love song ever written is Church on Sunday.  It talks about a real relationship and how to make that work.  That is what love really is, wanting to be with someone so much you are willing to compromise to maintain that relationship.  And both parties need to compromise.  Church on Sunday is just a freakin' perfect beautiful, honest song about a relationship.  When It's Time is a hallmark card and I'm sure it meant alot to Adrienne.  My personal opinion it should have stayed their secret.

FYI, I don't like 2000 Light Years Away either.    I'm not a huge fan of early GD.  I do like the early stuff because it shows the talent and the potential to be great.   They lyrics he wrote as a young man were amazing.  But overall, I get tired of the 3 chord power chord songs.  There are some gems on Kerplunk, but to me, 2000 Light Years Away is not one of them.

I love Church on Sunday!  You're right, it's a perfect love song. And yes, Kerplunk and 1039 Smoothed is all about the words. The poetry is just great. And I love how Billie just sounds like a boy! But musically, meh.

The only sappy love song that I like is Last Night On Earth. It's so much better than When It's Time.

Personally I like When It's time, Church on Sunday and his other love songs. Maybe I'm a sentimental romantic, but if a guy wrote a song that heartfelt for me I would melt. It shows how much he loves Adie and that's a beautiful thing. Especially since he wrote When It's time when he was 19 to his then girlfriend Adrienne. That's pretty sweet.
