greenman1232
I know this is probably impractical but go with me on this. I think they should play one album of their 11 (soon to be 12) in its entirety every night. They would pick randomly for every show and never repeat an album till they've played all 12. This album portion of the show would come in the middle of the overall set. When the chosen showcase album is played it is played much like they did Dookie at the Reading festival, meaning its played straight through with little time between songs and no "extensions" to the songs (hey-ohs etc...) This way at the very most it will take up an hour and 15 min (21CB) but averaging really only around 45 min for most of the other albums. By doing this you take care of all the singles from a particular album within the album section of the set. (Great for Dookie and American Idiot fans) That would leave two big set chunks (The opening set, before the album portion and obviously after the album portion) of probably 7-10 songs where they could plug in all the other popular songs that weren't on that particular nights album or any other random songs they might be feeling. Before and after the "album portion" those songs can have the traditional Billie Joe theatrics we've come to know and love. I know what your thinking what if I'm unlucky and get one of the Trilogy albums on my show? Too bad I say. There has to be some songs you like buried on each album. So allow me to try to make a mock set list using this concept. I'll build it around "Tre" (Shudder) and also add the new album in there. So I will mark slots with New Song since we don't know the names yet 1. Bang Bang 2. Stay The Night 3. Know Your Enemy 4. Letterbomb 5. New Song 6. St. Jimmy 7. 2000 Light Years Away 8. New Song 9. Hitchin A Ride 10. Basket Case 11. Brutal Love 12. Missing You 13. 8th Ave Serenade 14. Drama Queen 15. X-Kid 16. Sex Drugs & Violence 17. Little Boy Named Train 18. Amanda 19. Walk Away 20. Dirty Rotten Bastards 21. 99 Revolution (radios) 22. The Forgotten 23. Welcome To Paradise 24. Brain Stew/Jaded (no random cover mash ups here please and thank you) 25. Geek Stink Breath 26. Castaway 27. 21 Guns 28. When I Come Around 29. She 30. Waiting 31. Minority Encore: 32. 21st Century Breakdown 33. American Idiot 34. Jesus Of Suburbia Encore 2: 35. Wake Me Up When September Ends 36. Good Riddance. I know that seems like a lot of songs, but remember the album portion will be played straight through so you can round Tre up to about a little over 50 min of actual stage time spent playing the album.

lucky_stars
I'm too lazy to write out a full set list, but I just want to hear them play Waiting live at least once in my lifetime. I know it's not the greatest GD song of all time or anything, but it's always been my favorite since I was a kid and would LOVE to see it in a set or encore somehow. Someone posted earlier in this thread that a good chunk of their set feels a bit stale and I definitely agree... hopefully they mix up the routine this go around.

That Dude
I just saw Blink-182 in concert and it was awesome. so here's a Green Day show that sort of immulates that show. They don't have the exact same number of albums, but I tried to get it as close as possible. you can see my notes below sort of showing how I decided what songs coincided with each other. Pretty sure this has never been done before. I might find some other bands I've seen live and do a Green Day set based on them. Weezer anyone? 1. American Idiot 2. Basketcase 3. Shout 4. Waiting 5. NEW SONG (first track from new album) 6. Minority 7. Wake Me When September Ends 8. Boulevard of Broken Dreams 9. BANG BANG 10. NEW SONG (a more light hearted song) 11. Knowledge 12. Burnout 13. That Dude
And of Course they should play the new album all the way through a time or two to see what works for the crowds. DeJennsitized
I don't know where I'd even begin with a setlist! Green Day have too many songs, dammit. But omg, @thatdude03. You're next level. I love lists but hate curating! On 08/08/2016 at 5:59 AM, lucky_stars said: I'm too lazy to write out a full set list, but I just want to hear them play Waiting live at least once in my lifetime. I didn't think it was one of my favourites, but they played it at one of the shows I went to and I completely freaked out. I think it was Wembley Stadium! Whilst I couldn't make up a setlist unless I had an entire day to do it, I can think of a few songs I'd take out. I know WMUWSE is a casual fan favourite but it doesn't do a whole lot for me. I'm so into Brutal Love though. I think it'd be great if they kept BOBD, played Brutal Love as their last song and then ended that song with the Good Riddance chorus. And whilst I love Are We The Waiting/St Jimmy, they could probably do without it. Especially if they put Bang Bang in there instead.

However, in recent years, I've been lucky enough to see Scattered, Razorbacks, No Pride, Christie, 80 teased, Gloria!, 86 Church, Coming Clean, FOD, Brat, Castaway, Waiting, Road to Acceptance, Armitage, and some other deeper tracks, so as long as they keep doing this I will be happy. Instead of a full setlist, I'll just post a list of "deep tracks never heard/ don't expect to hear" that I would love somewhere in the set on the next tour: -Grouch (heard once in '97 and it was killer) -Having A Blast -80 (full- only got the first verse at show) -Westbound (don't think it's ever been played) -Jinx/ Haushinka (ditto) -Uptight (ditto) -Horseshoes -Rusty James -409 -Desensitized (one can dream) -Judge's Daughter -Eminus -Road to Acceptance (broke my own rule, I saw it on the Insomiac tour, but it was so good...it's been ages, it would be phenomenal to see it again!)

They have so many songs they've never played live. I hope they throw in at least one or two live debuts of older deep cuts. No One Knows would be a crazy nice treat. Westbound Sign along with a handful of Insomniac tracks have yet to be played. Walking Alone is the only Nimrod track they've never touched live, while four Trilogy tracks have never been done in concert and lots more of them have only been played once or twice. Mike Dirnt joked about it in an interview that they have so many hits and songs its difficult for them to decide what to play and what not to. He joked about that being a 'good problem to have' but it is still a problem. 41 singles and counting, I hope that they rotate songs this time around to cover each album properly.
