Guest
You do know Sweet 16 is about his wife and marriage it was written for their 16th anniversary... Well, I do now. Still an awful song.
Cob
Angel Blue is my favorite song off Uno. I love Sweet 16, it's such a good song. And I will always think Carpe Diem is awesome, it's the first Trilogy song that I was genuinely obsessed with. When Uno leaked I must have listened to it about 20 times in a row. Eva
A lot of the trilogy's songs are surprisingly meanful, just behind the facade of a dirty punk attitude. As you pointed out, many are autobiographical (Lazy Bones), which makes them even more relevant looking at Billie's rehab. Unless they do another rock opera, it'll be hard to get as serious as their two politically charged albums. (I wouldn't mind another rock opera ) Except there's not much dirty or punk, compared to other things they've done. Ok I've good unpopular opinion! I actually love Oh Love now! It's grown on me! I've liked Oh Love since it came out. Carpe Diem, Angel Blue, and Sweet 16 are rubbish. Definitely amongst the worst from the trilogy. Barely B-Side quality. Oh, thank God. I can't stand Carpe Diem. I'd never heard them play it live, so when I got Uno! I was expecting the song to be brilliant because of how hyped up it was. Turns out it's one of my least favorite trilogy songs. Akshat
Carpe Diem and Angel Blue are good. Sweet 16 is good too.Had this been released when the guys wee in their teens, it would have been the next best thing in music.I do agree it's not cool to see a 40 year old middle aged man sing that. But hey, Billie looks, acts and thinks like a 16 year old.So we are cool. Note-When I say Billie looks, acts and thinks like a 16 year old, I mean in a good way, not in a Taylor Swift way or something.

Guest
And Woodstock '94! Woodstock '94 is comparable to a normal Stooges gig back in the 70s. That was proper insanity. Green Day have nothing on them. Shit like climbing up 30 foot stages, smearing himself with peanut butter, and stabbing himself with nails. Iggy Pop makes Green Day look boring. Don't worry, I'm 16 and I'm not a slut either (at least yet) Did you just call Taylor Swift a slut? Because that's kinda not cool dude.
DecanoLP
I don't understand the obsession people have with Christie Road, especially when it comes to wanting the band to play it live. I love that song, it's great, but it's not the best song on Kerplunk. In the words of Mike: "If you shout out Christie Road one more time I'm gonna fucking hit you with my bass." Finally someone saying that! This song is so overplayed, especially live since everyone always requests it... They could easily play some other (better) songs from Kerplunk, such as One For The Razorbacks, Private Ale, 80 or Who Wrote Holden Caulfield! Christie Road is my personal white whale of Green Day songs. I've heard it exists live, but I've never seen it nor does it feel I ever will. It is but an apparation, a mythical creature of uncertain existance. It is the Moby Dick to my Ahab, the holy grail of live performances. Every time I go to a show I feel like Indiana Jones in search of my personal Ark of the Covenant known as Christie Road. I've never seen it live, nor do I believe I ever will...and lord knows I've been to enough shows by now.

He sais that to 80, "You're always be my sweet sixteen" in a loving way. I found that so lovely.

EggMong
Now don't get me wrong I love the song Green Day, but does anyone else think it has too many drum fills or is that just me? It doesn't seem to flow quite as well as other songs when I listen to it. The fills all seem to sound the same or very similar and it annoys me a bit. Other than that I think 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is am amazing compilation. Considering it's a collection of their very first EPs and album I think it's unbelievably good! There are a few average songs but so many gems. And it's so relatable to me, which I suppose makes sense since they wrote it when they were teenagers like me. I actually prefer it to Dookie. Cut them a bit of slack.

Guest
I don't find Billie Joe's eyebrows that outrageous. I wasn't aware his eyebrows were causing any kind of rage. In fact, how can eyebrows cause rage? They're just awkwardly placed hair.
